Danny didn't miss that remark. He looked at the two females like a trapped rat. He was starting to think he'd rather have another go at the bane than deal with this. He took a deep breath and explained. "I am the Caern's Warder," he repeated. "And I have faith in the pack. You have seen what they can do," he said that sentence to Sparrow. "They will return the boy, and our missing cub." He tried to give Yvonne a reassuring look, hiding his own misgivings.
Sparrow shook her head, her expression just as stubborn as Yvonne's. "She is right, if there are battles being fought, then we should be there to help," Sparrow insisted. "We can find them, we will take a different road than the bane's. You should not come. I would not expect a Warder to leave his Caern. In fact, I would lose respect for you if you did. But we should go. The battle calls us."

Danny had almost succeeded in appealing to Yvonne's good sense, but she is spurred on by Sparrow. "Then we will go, you can stay here. Do you know anything more specific about where they will be, or shall we just find it ourselves?"

If Danny had been a little more used to being in a ranking position, he would have ordered the two of them to stay at the Caern and that would have been the end of it. But when you've spent most of your life running from place to place, you don't have a chance to learn what it's like to be in charge. Yvonne could probably have given him a very good lesson in that. He faltered. "I won't tell you not to go," he said finally. "But be careful. I know that Edward called me from a warehouse in Friedrichstrasse. But where they went from there I do not know."
Sparrow nodded. "Thank you, Danny-rhya. It's a start," she said curtly. "We can track them from there." She looked at Yvonne. "Shall we go then?"

Yvonne nods in agreement and, despite having gotten comfortable in front of the fire, gets up eagerly. "We shall have to return to the Umbra to get past the wall, plus it will take us less time if we travel on four legs." she looks questioningly at Sparrow "I suppose that comes naturally to you?"

Danny sighed. Yvonne might be able to run across the city and back before dinnertime, but the Talon was going on three paws as it was. "I can take you as far as the warehouse, and across the wall," he suggested. "After that, I must return. That is, if you don't mind flying again."
"Not my favourite way to travel, but if it must be done," she looked squeamish at the prospect. "What do you think?" she asked Yvonne.

In the least, the novelty obviously appeals to Yvonne enough to overcome any apprehension. "I don't mind at all. It will save a lot of time I'm sure. Let's go." Yvonne walks over to the mirror and looks at her reflection, running a hand through her hair to even it out after all the fuss, before reaching out through the gauntlet.

The others join her in the Umbra. Sparrow still looks a little uncertain. "Wolves weren't meant to fly..." she voiced her misgivings quietly.Danny stepped outside and shifted to Glabro while waited for the girls to join him. He reasoned he could probably carry them both in this form. After all, the wings did most of the work. "Then why would owl give me wings?" he said, looking even uglier and hairier than before now. He wrapped an arm around Yvonne, and held out another hand to Sparrow. And they were off. To the Border
