About time i checked out the Caern!

[Kaleb]

Kaleb looked at Micah and shrugged his shoulders. He was about to say something about them going out but Edward already mentioned it. Kaleb thought to himself how awesome it would be to hang out with him, as he seemed to have a route to as much food and shiney things as Kaleb wanted..and he wanted lots of it.

"Yup, we are going for some grub, like Edward said. Neat car, hey? Can't help it you all left us here starving to death. We'll be back later." Kaleb made his way to the car and wrinkled his nose at the invite from Edward to Micah. He'd eat all his share..no way was Kaleb gonna let that happen.

"Your dad said he'd be back soon. Just relay the message will ya? Let's go Edward." Kaleb waved off Micah and hoped in the awaiting car.

Edward thought to himself...'wow some people are hard to impress, o well one day it will come in handy.' With that he whipped out his mobile phone and rang the restaurant to make a few orders, so the food was ready when they got there. He went to check the time on his watch...'huh!' he thought to himself...'Hmm i swear i was wearing it when i entered the Caern, o well will just have to grab another one from the draw back in the penthouse.'

With that he asked Kaleb 'Hey what do you feel like eating? I'm putting an order through to my chef.' As he has said that he swing himself into the drivers seat and swings the door closed.

He turns down the radio..which was pumping out underground rave music. And waits for Kaleb's reply for meal preference....

"You were just going to leave the Caern with no one here?" Micah stared incredulously, after he'd gotten over the self-starting car. "Where'd Dad go anyway?"

Unfortunately it was already too late. By the time Micah had recollected his thoughts the car had pulled out, leaving him choking on the dust.

[Kaleb]

Kaleb didn't really hear what Micah was saying, the kid just did not understand the importance of eating. If something were to come up, how would Kaleb or Edward suffice with no energy? Plus Edward had shiney things that Kaleb wanted, and free food and watches.

"So, where we headed off to? I hope it's got some good grub, some of those fancy smansy places got the worse stuff to digest. Best place I've ever eaten was at old lady Herrich's dumpster. She had the best left over's ever, that lady could cook. Too bad she died about 3 months ago..I was packing on pounds from her cooking." Kaleb patted at his gut, which was less then fat.

"Hey, nice speakers, what ya got in here? Amp, subs?" Kaleb turned in the seat a few times, obviously not buckled in or taking heed of Edward's warnings.

Edward didn't get a reply to his food request so he told his chef at the hotel to put on a banquet, basically a big spread.

Edward then took control of the car and sent it flying off the front of the old library onto the quiet street...leaving a cloud of dust an dirt in his wake. After that he said to Kaleb in German 'Well it is the latest Blaupunkt car stereo with the latest graphic equaliser, sub-woofer, tweeters and a 6 stacker CD player! Feel free to test it out....I got my chef to lay out a spread for us when we get to the hotel. Dumpsters you say..why would you eat from a dumpster? Hmm.cant say Ive tried it...maybe later, but I'm sure the fair at the hotel is much better.'

With that he started to maneuver the car at high speed through the streets to the hotel, throwing Kaleb around in his seat.

Edward asked Kaleb 'Hey you didn't by any chance happen to see a watch at the Caern by any chance?..just curious, cause i swear i walked in their with one.'
With that he resumed his concentration on the road and other drivers...not that he cared if he got scratches on his car, but it was more of an inconvenience.

[Kaleb]

Kaleb started messing with buttons, adjusting the sound, bass and trebble in the car, until he was satisfied with the sound quality.

"Why would you want to eat at stuffy hotels and be waited on by snobby waiters all the time?" kaleb retorted with a snicker that was cut short by him being tossed about by the turns Edward took around the curbs.

"Watch? Does it look like I keep time, man? If you can't keep track of your belongings, I'd suggest not flashing 'em around all over the place. But you know what? I will tell you that that some of the occupants in the caern have sticky fingers...like that Micah kid. Great dad and leader, but wierd kid." Kaleb shrugged his shoulders, smirk on his face.

[Rockerfella]

Edward...grimaced a little at the settings being changed on his sound system. After all it is generally polite to ask the driver if you can change the station at a minimum..let alone all the settings! Now the stereo just sounded all distorted and out of sync, he hastily changed the settings back..nearly side swiping a cop car on the way round a corner.

Edward replied ' Hey don't touch the settings, it took me a week to get it down to the way i like it. Grrr...As for your stuffy restaurants point..Well it is the life i have known and have not known any less, well except for the stint in the army.' Edward shakes his head after the worst noise he has heard in ages. He thinks to himself 'I really must find a way of locking the settings in.' Then he states to Kaleb ' Well here we are!'

And to accentuate the fact screeches to a halt in front of the hotel and Kaleb has trouble not going through the windscreen.

The Valet comes up and takes the keys and takes the car to be parked out the back...

Edward says and gestures to Kaleb ' This Kaleb is where i hang out and the stuffy restaurants you speak of..I hope you brought your manners and an appetite!'

With that Edward is waiting on the red carpet of the hotel to go to the restaurant to eat....

[Kaleb]

"Army, you say? Did you blow up lots of stuff? This one time our pack got into some trouble at a bar, and you missed a hell of a show buddy." Kaleb beemed proudly thinking back to it.

Kaleb gets tossed about in the car as Edward comes to a painstaking halt, making Kaleb and his head hit the stupid wind screen...Well better then the cement he reckoned..that might've not worked out too good.

Kaleb snorted at the manners, part..it was all french to him. He walked with Edward, slicking back his hair with some spit and his right hand.

"Appetite you say...You've no idea." Kaleb smiled and looked over the valet, wrinkling his nose. Some people should just enjoy the simplicities of life, and get off their throne. Kaleb shrugged off the thought as quick as it came, it was more fun to think about the food they would be eating.

Edward waved to the staff of the hotel as he went towards the waiting meal in the restaurant, his usual table set and ready to go. It was set up like a long table, a proper banquet, usually only used to entertain clients or family when they visit. But this Kaleb character looked too skinny for his own good.

To Kaleb's question, he replied ' Well i was in the USA army as a military lawyer, so no blowing stuff up, although ht ere was an incident in the Middle East. But I will have to get to know you better before i divulge any more information on that. Missed a show you say..well I'm sure i will see on ein the near future no doubt.' To this he smirked and thought...'well sounds like i have finally found some interesting people to hang out with. I'm sick of all the people who are much like my parents, well too stuffy and boring!.'

Edward grabbed a plate and helped himself to a modest size helping of Roast beef, quail, caviar and some escargot. Then seated himself in his nice comfy chair...took a swig of the only whiskey he drinks, as the staff at the hotel only know too well. On the rocks in a nice big glass.

He also gestures to Kaleb to grab a plate and help himself and point sto a seat where he can sit. He says ' Just get the waiters attention and they can bring you anything else that is not on the table or something to drink.'

With that he starts to eat with his knife and fork , savoring every bit....

[Kaleb]

Kaleb frowned a bit at the lack of military experience Edward seemed to have...he was just a pretty face behind a desk. Well, he did say lawyer stuff, never know when that might come in handy; hopefully never in Kaleb's case.

Grabbing a plate up after Edward gestured to it, Kaleb made his rounds around the buffet table, minus the escargot. Something just did not seem right about eating snails in his mindset.

"Anything you say?" Kaleb thought about it and beckoned over a waiter. "Yeah, you all got any beer up in this place? That other stuff ain't really my cup of tea." Kaleb snorted at the wine and other hard liquor that was placed about them.

"So you doing what you did there, here in civillian land? I mean, what is it your firm specializes in?" Kaleb waved the waiter off and looked at Edward.

Edward was enjoying the excellent food food prepared by his favorite chef...After a nice sip and savor of the whisky he replied to Kaleb 'Well we mainly deal with Corporate law, but specialise in environmental cases. Such as chemical spills and the like. But we pretty much do anything as long a speople can afford the firms time. Don't be shy with the food, looks like you are wasting away.' Edward's thought came back to Kaleb's comments in the car on the way to the restaurant about eating out of dumpsters, no wonder he always wanted to eat. Maybe Kaleb was a bum, a weird concept of which he had no idea, but was fascinated none the less!

Edward asked Kaleb 'So what do you do for a living? And are the rest of the pack employed? As I am looking for the services of some individuals that can help me with a few minor duties and tasks not covered by my currently employed staff.'

Edward was nearly finished with his meal, placing the last of the escargot in his mouth and enjoying the expensive snails. Then finishing it off with the rest of the whiskey.

He then pulled a fresh cigar from his breast pocket and lit it up with his grandfathers zippo lighter.. and preceded to lean back in the chair and blow smoke rings into the air above them.

[Kaleb]

"So no pro-bono stuff then, hey?" Kaleb rolled his eyes not surprised in reality. After all the watch, the car and the place they were eating at showed off about how much money Edward made a year.

"Living? Me? Well I recently got myself a job at Vasara's bar. You'll meet him later on, once I let you in the pack." Kaleb smirked at the comment, and then took another deep breath in."Most of us work there some of the time, and Anna..Well, she's young. We don't let her in that kinda scene ya know." Kaleb shrugged and watched Edward light up a cigar. Dropping his voice, he leaned over the table, pushing his finished plate aside and stared at Edward.

"What is it the pack can do for you that your workers can not? Obviously minus the pack details." Kaleb slanted his eyes thinking about what Edward said. There was no way Kaleb was going to find himself as some blue collared worker anytime soon. He had a pretty nice set up on the streets and at the bar, so no need to busy up his free time with more work.

[Rockerfella]

Edward looked at Kaleb with a little indifference to the comment about no Pro-bono work. In reply he said 'Well if you must know, i am the son of a rich oil magnate back in New York, so I don't need the money the Law firm brings in. But it certainly help s the Rockerfella empire grow and stay how it is. I take on some pro-bono stuff occasionally when a case interests me. I have lost a case yet, unless i mean to. As for the other work i mentioned.' Edward leans in a little closer to Kaleb blowing smoke in Kaleb's face as he talks..' Well i have need of other types that can get in and do dirty work so to speak, information i have covered, as I have quite a reputation in the law society of Berlin. I know people and have a few contacts from the old days. But i don't have anyone that can do what you guys can all do..wink wink..besides I'm sure we can all benefit from the arrangement. You don't think i specialise in Environmental corporate law for nothing do you!'

With that he sits back has another sip of his whiskey, which finishes off the glass. Then savors another deep breathe of his cigar...then contemplates what to say next to Kaleb.

He then says to Kaleb 'Let me in the pack huh...and why should I do that, I seem to be doing fine right now as it is. What are the benefits? I guess I will have free access to the Caern if I join you. But what does the rest of the pack have to offer? As you can see I don't need anything, as i can usually buy it or convince someone to give it to me.' With that he sits back in the chair with a huge grin on his face and light chuckle.
'Well I don't know about you but I have had enough to eat and it is probably time we headed back to the Caern to see i f your pack mates are back. Do they have a phone in there?'

With that he gets up from the table and continues the conversation back to the front of the lobby of the hotel, where his car shortly drives back up and the Valet gets out. Edward casually tips the Valet 50 deutch marks as if it was monopoly money.

[Kaleb]

Kaleb listened to his speal about the law firm and his snooty silver spoon mouth. He rolled his eyes entierly unimpressed. Sitting in the chair Kaleb clenched his fists at his side, tempted to get up but remained seated for now.

"If your suggesting doing something that may get a few of us into trouble, legally or saftey wise; then you can just go jump off a cliff bud. We don't ever intentionally put our family members danger unless it deals with the wyrm; then we have no choice or in situations that would bring attention to ourselves that would end up breaking "the veil."

"As for letting you in, your the one who hunted us down, not the other way around. So you tell us why your so interested in becoming a member at the caern. Go ahead and keep believing you don't need us, but you will one day. There are things going on around here that your stuck up ass hasn't been around to see. When your sitting all by yourself one day at your work or home and the wyrm comes for you, just remember you had your chance."
Kaleb rose from the chair as Edward did the same, heading for the valet area. Kaleb was more then annoyed with this man and would be damned if he sat in the same car with this jerk. Making a beeline from Edward and the valet, Kaleb made his way from the pair and down Berlin's city streets. If anyone knew the streets it was Kaleb and he knew the quickest way back to the caern without the annoying thorn in his side.

Edward was a little taken back by the abruptness of Kaleb's reply...but true he did come and seek them out at the Caern in the first place...he had a point! As for Kaleb's facial reactions to his earlier reply, he was used to that he had seen it many a time in a court room, the false smiles and utter contempt for his profession and social status. He could even see it in the hotel staffs eyes on occasion when they thought he wasn't paying attention.

To Kaleb he says 'Well I have a little job i need to do before we go back to the Caern at my office, maybe after that you will change your opinion of me. And as for illegal stuff well, like you say only if it involved the Wyrm. You will see shortly. And yes I am interested in becoming a member at the Caern. Of course i realise I cant do everything by myself, I can do a lot in this town but not everything!'

With that he jumps in the car and waits for Kaleb to buckle up like himself, he waits a few seconds, then roars off towards his office. Replies to any questions or small talk that Kaleb has on the way, but is determined to get to the office in no time. Edward drives like a man possessed! If Kaleb thought the ride from the Caern to the hotel was rough, the ride to the office was worse much like a rally race.

Edward thought to himself 'I have to get that video edited and then sent back to the police station, plus graba few documents then i can go back to the Caern and see what else is happening in this city.'

With that thought he performs a handbrake slide into his carpark next to the elevators in the parking lot. Jumps out and waits for Kaleb to join him in the elevator.....
