As they neared the edge of the pool, Max helped Adiyah out of the water. "I'm sorry," he said, once he'd regained his breath. "I shouldn't have pushed us on." He looked a little worried, but he grinned anyway. "But how does it feel to cheat death?" he asked. Adiyah probably hadn't enjoyed it as much as he had, though.
He sat back on the rocks, giving Adiyah some time to recover from almost drowning. He looked at Yvonne. She didn't look at all ruffled by the swim. "You don't even look like you just spent ten minutes in a freezing pool," he said with a laugh. "I bet you could out-dive dolphins." He grinned. "That was a good job," he added a little more seriously.

She smiles back at Max, but is more concerned with making sure Adiyah stays alive. "I've done it before. Normally I know when I can surface though." Yvonne makes sure Adiyah is on her side, so she can cough out any water she might of swallowed, and rubs her arms to help her warm up. Being icily cold doesn't help suffocation much at all, and Yvonne herself is shivering violently. "Nothing like an invigorating swim, huh?" She tries to grin.

Adiyah coughed and sputtered, bringing up the icy cold water from her lungs. For a few tense moments, she was sure she was dead, and slowly, between being flipped on her side and Yvonne's hands trying to warm her up, she realized she was too cold, too uncomfortable. She was still alive, thank gaia.
"Invig.........vigorating my ass." She followed that up with another round of coughing, then slowly moved her hand up to Yvonne's and clasped it a moment. "You both.........saved my life. Thank you."
Adiyah didn't want to think about what just a short while longer undrwater would have done to her. Somehow, being under the water and nearly dying was a whole lot more frightening than fighting enemies. She pulled herself up to a sitting position when she thought she could manage it, then looked at Max, trying to stifle her urge to cough again and weakly smiled.
"It's....alright. Don't apologize, hard to communicate..........under water. If that's what cheating death feels like, got my fix for a while."
She shuddered and looked around the darkness of the rocks and surrounding area, becoming aware that her light had gone out. It made her realize again how close she'd come to dying and it made her shiver again.

Max grinned again, this time with relief as Adiyah found her breath and started talking. "It was Yvonne actually," he said. "I was struggling towards the end too. Apparently I overestimated myself."
He was cold, and he realised Yvonne and Adiyah were shivering too. The cave was now big enough for them to fit in their Crinos forms, so he shifted and reverted to the mother's toungue. "Warmer this way," he said. "Looks like we're following Owl's words to the letter though. We can't be far now."

Yvonne almost manages to blush, despite the cold, and clasps Adiyah's hand firmly in comraderie. "I'm sure you'll get a chance to do the same for me some day." She stands, helping Adiyah to her feet if necesarry, and looks around into the darkness of cave trying to guess how big the it is and if it goes anywhere.

"I hope that chance comes later rather than sooner."
Adiyah accepted the help to get to her feet, and shifted to crinos, not needing that suggestion to come twice. Warmer sounded really, really good about now. She nodded slowly to Max.
"Owl isn't often one to beat around the bush much from what I know of him. So far, it all makes perfect sense."
She looked around, squinting a bit. "I can call the light back if need be?"

This part of the cave seems a lot bigger than the one they had previously been in. The air is damper and a mustier, and the sounds of dripping water can be heard echoing in the distance. They manage to grope around and get to their feet, but without Adiyah's guiding light, they can't really see enough to get anywhere.

"I think there is need... I can't see us getting anywhere like this." Yvonnes reaches around her, trying to find a cave wall at least so she has some sort of bearing.

Max agreed with Yvonne, but hoped the light wasn't costing Adiyah too much of her essence. He didn't want her to tire out, especially since they didn't know what lay ahead. On the other hand they had very little chance of finding out what lay ahead without the light.
"I think so too," he said, his growl echoing eerily through the cave. "Do you think you can manage another one?"

Adiyah squinted, not able to see much at all in the dark cave, even her friends weren't the easiest to make out. "Right. I can manage. Hang on."
She concentrated on making the light again. Without a light there just wasn't a way to proceed. After narly dying, she wasn't about to turn back now. Matter of fact, she was hopeful there was a better way out of this place than there had been going in. One a little less wet, freezing, and deadly.

The small light popped back into existence and blinded them for a few seconds. Once their eyes got accustomed to it, however, they saw that this part of the cave was much larger than the the previous part. They were actually standing at the end of a chasm. The cave was quite damp, and water was dripping from the rocky ceiling. Hundreds of stalagmites and stalagtites filled the cave, and it was quite a breath-taking sight, despite the fact that they could only see part of it.
And lying in the gap was the biggest bear they had ever seen. They themselves were no larger than its front paws. It could have swatted them like flies, if it wasn't for the fact it was deeply asleep and oblivious to their presence.
A path led further into the cave, although it was narrow and ran along the gap, with nothing stopping them from falling, should they slip. Adiyah's keen eyes picked out something else in the distant darkness: A flicker of reddish light.

Max looked over the edge, and his eyes widened. "Wow," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. He motioned the others over to the edge, and pointed down at the giant bear. Somehow he felt he didn't want to wake it, whoever it was. Maybe it was his cave, and they were intruding on its nap time. "Over there," he whispered, pointing to the narrow edge. "We'd better move together, like before..."

Yvonne stands staring at the bear, dumbstruck for a time. "It's even bigger than that bane at the wall." She looks up at Max as he speaks. "Yes, let's move on. Any idea where it leads?" She looks uncertainly at the edge, wondering how easy it would be to cross on four legs instead of two. She certainly doesn't see any way of helping someone that does slip.

Adiyah's eyes widened at the sight of the massive bear dozing in the gap. It could easily tear them apart with a flick of a paw if it was awake and had wanted to.
Yvonne's silence was contagious, and the fian was also staring in disbelief. After a few moments she licked her lips and spoke in a whisper. "Alright...I see light up ahead, must go somewhere."
With that she moved cautiously with the others, painfully aware of her misfortune and being the weakest link in the chain so far. Adiyah hoped her luck would hold out on this one, because she wasn't looking forward to being bear chow.

Max squinted to try and see what Adiyah was seeing, and then slowly started along the edge. "Keep the light close," he whispered, taking Adiyah's hand. If they lost him, they could probably still get out in one piece while he made his way down the bear's digestive system. If they lost her, they were stuck in darkness and that would mean they were all lost.
He looked back at Yvonne. He wanted to say something along the lines of "if we fall screaming to our deaths, don't panic, just go back and get out" but somehow got the feeling that wouldn't be helpful. Instead he grinned at her, and kept going.
