For some reason, Anna looked suspicious. She stopped walking and stared Yvonne in the face. She probably had to look up for that, because Anna wasn't very tall. "I'm part of his pack, I don't know her!" she said. "What's a Red Talon doing in Berlin? Did she say?"

Yvonne was hardly very tall, so there was very little looking up to do. Yvonne unconsciously takes a step back. "She said she was looking for a lost cub. Aren't you one, anyway? I didn't think you could be in a pack if you were unrited." Yvonne finally realises she's not supposed to back down from people, but doesn't make a big deal of it. This was worrying her. "Is something wrong?"

"I'm not a lost cub," Anna snapped. "You thought wrong then. So I haven't been rited yet. What difference does it make?"
For some reason that remark seemed to have annoyed her. Or she was just being overly touchy.
"How do you know that anyway?"

"Sorry, I don't mean anything by it, I've hardly been rited a year myself. Just cubs don't normally join full packs, I've never had a pack at all." The hostility was beginning to bug Yvonne, but she does her best to stay friendly. "I knew you were because we came to help rescue some cubs, Danny was called shortly before the attack. I didn't mean you were a lost cub, I suppose she must of been looking for Martin."

"Desperate times," Anna said, accepting the apology and calming down a little. After all, Yvonne was right about cubs not normally joining packs. But then there was nothing normal about Berlin.
"They're not taking Martin either," she said. "I won't let them."
She was apparently done with shouting, and she turned around and started walking towards the empty house again. Once she reached the driveway she stopped and looked around to make sure they weren't being watched. "Try not to get lost," she said. Then she concentrated and slipped out of the physical world and into the Umbra.

With the faintest of whispers in the quiet air, Kasiya is, where before, he was not. Waiting for Martin's marginally slower transit, he proceeds to inquisitively sniff everything in the room.

Martin appeared a few seconds later. He was twitchy and apparently unhappy to be cooped up again, but his curiosity overcame it quickly. There were things in here he had never seen before, not even in the big clean place. Everything there had been white and grey, but here there were huge colourful things. And the place smelled strangely too (the Library had the smell of old books, although Martin didn't know what it was yet). He could smell Anna too, but she wasn't here.
"Where do the two-legs sleep?" he asked. The word "upstairs" had been new to him.

"They have big soft nests that stand on four legs off the floor. I will show you."
Kasiya places a paw on a door handle at random, pushing down to operate it, then slips through. He goes in search of upstairs.
"Tell me if you need to urinate or leave spoor. There is a place you must go to do so."
Gaia have mercy, I'm house-training a Cub.

"I know," Martin said. "In the clean place, they made me use the white bowl. The--" Now that was a difficult word to say as a wolf. Martin decided not to try. "The man in white coat, he said to call me Martin too."
He was done explaining by the time Kasiya had opened the door and started exploring. He wanted to explore too, but he was very tired. He lay himself down on the rug in front of the fireplace, wishing he was back home in the Black Forest.

The door that Kasiya found probably led outside, where the Library had a large backyard that would have looked rather nice during the summer or spring seasons. His search for "upstairs" ends with a staircase that leads up to the second floor, which appears to be a refurnished attic. There are some bookshelves here too, but the books seem to be much older than the ones downstairs. There are a few beds, and a door that leads to a bathroom. There is nobody up here either. Apparently, Danny was the only one at the Caern when they arrived. Actually, the only other person in the Library is Martin (and I assume Simeon is knocking around somewhere).

Although she had left last, Anna crossed the gauntlet somewhat faster and arrived in the physical world shortly before Yvonne did. She appeared once again in the Library, separated from Martin and the fireplace only by rows of bookshelves. She was stills standing there a few seconds later when Yvonne arrived.

Returning, Kasiya manages to shut the door before flopping down by Martin.
"If you need to make mess that door leads outside. We will find food tomorrow."
He closes his eyes and allows his breathing to steady as he moves towards sleep. That journey is broken at Friedrich's return, the only sign of the Ghost's report being that one of the Black Wolf's ears pricks up. He resolves to speak to the Cub upon waking, snorting air through his nose to acknowlege Friedrich he once more drifts off to sleep, this time under the watchful eye of the dead.

Once Yvonne finds her away across and gets her orientation (still a difficult task at times) she turns to Anna. "Can you tell me about what just happened? I don't understand." She does her best to ask the question softly, this obviously was upsetting Anna a lot and Yvonne didn't want to seem pushy.

Anna sat down at the foot of the stairs, no longer singing, but looking like part of her wasn't really there. "I saw a ghost," she said. "He said to come back."
She left out the rest. Yvonne might be able to accept the fact that she could talk to ghosts without thinking her mentally unhinged or something, but anything else was pushing it. Of course, Yvonne had probably already made up her mind about that. They had made up their mind about that too.
