It was obviously a 'private' moment for the two, so Em hung back a bit, trying to blend in. She didn't feel left out, after all she was the newest member of the pack, and it was natural the other two would be close. So, she wandered over by the fire to glance at the map Danny and Cloud-Dancer had been looking at and marking on.

It was a start. Cloud-Dancer hid a smile and shook her head. "That won't cut it," she said. "Not for the raven banner. All the previous banner bearers fell in battle, and they had more protection than a couple of Silent Striders." She continued to lead the way towards the bawn. She left his question unanswered for now, because she didn't know the answer. "No, there's only one pack here that can pull this off," she said. And that pack was currently patrolling the bawn. She paused again thoughtfully, fully aware that Judgement-from-the-Skies had already tested Hands of Mercy and made a decision in that respect. But he was the banner bearer now. His survival was vital to the outcome of the battle, and that would make all the difference.
She stopped walking suddenly, and Simeon and Hands of Mercy could tell that it was because she had found who she was looking for. Or at least close enough.
"Where's your alpha?" she asked in the mother's tongue.

Anna saw the three approaching and set out to meet them, since they were obviously coming her way. She gave Simeon a warm smile in greeting. After everything they'd been through together, she felt closer to him than even some of her packmates. Cloud-Dancer and Hands-of-Mercy got a more formal and polite greeting.
"He is close," she said. "Shall I go call him?"
She looked at Hands of Mercy, her eyes searching for the bow he usually carried. She looked for a moment like she was going to say something to him, but thought better of it and decided not to divide her attention in the presence of an Adren.

Though a bit flattered that Hands thought they could just make a pack and pull this off, even Simeon had reservations about such a thing. An untested, brand new pack in a fight of this size, it sounded like a bad mix to him. But Hands of Mercy was also right on the point they wouldn't fit in with Jona's pack. Sure he could get along with them if needed, but he couldn't see that as a long term thing.
Seeing Anna he gave her a slight smile and a nod, and did an incredible job of 'not' making a groaning sound as she was sent off to find Vasra. It wasn't that he didn't like the other, in fact he had found himself watching him a lot ever since the idea of forming a pack had first been brought up. Seeing how the other led and did thing. It was more the fact he was getting a bit tired of getting tossed here and there as a temporary pack member. Oddly, he wanted to find a permanent home and not be the back up singer as it were.

Hands of Mercy looks up at Cloud Dancer with a slight frown. He hadn't considered Slagbroder as an option, and putting the banner bearer on the front line would seem a bold move, if not downright stupid. But he trusts Cloud Dancer, and doesn't voice his surprise, instead turning his mind to what he would have to say to Judgement form the Skies and their totem.
As they approach Anna, Hands of Mercy returns her greeting. He has no reason not to respect the young Godi. He notes her expression, but doesn't react. If he was reading Cloud Dancer's intent correctly, she'd have time to speak to him later, if it was important. Forest's Hunger hangs across his back within the leather case he typically carries it in.

"No, I'll get him," Cloud-Dancer said. "You three find Shadow-Stalker and head to the forest clearing. We'll meet you there to perform Zachary's death rites."
This way she could have a quick talk with Vasara first. She didn't feel the need to explain any more to the Cliaths though. They knew to follow orders without asking pointless questions.
She stepped away from the group and left them alone for now.

Anna nodded and started to look around for Kamut.
"What've you been up to?" she asked Simeon. "And who's Zachary?"
They had certainly been out of touch. Not only had new people arrived, but they had managed to get themselves killed in the meantime. She trekked through the umbral forest in search of Kamut and turned to Hands of Mercy.
"My Alpha thinks it's a good idea if I train in ranged combat," she said. "I don't really like guns, but if you could teach me how to use a bow, I could repay you."
She already knew how she could, too.

"Zachary Born of a Dark Wish was a Shadow Lord Ahroun who died fighting the Ratkin's enemies as part of our quest to bring Hrafnsmerki back to battle." Hands of Mercy answers, his voice harsh and rasping.
"I would be happy to teach you, though you would have to acquire a bow. Forest's Hunger is not the most amiable of spirits, and I would not want to risk offending it by allowing another to wield it. And, of course, when battle comes, you would need your own bow anyway. Knowing the pull and veer of the weapon you will use will aid you when it matters. I shall teach you to make arrows as well. Doubtless there are human-produced shafts of plastic you could use, but I imagine you would appreciate the opportunities inherent in binding spirits to your flights."

"I have a bow," Anna said. "And arrows."
She looked at him as he spoke.
"I wouldn't worry though," she said. "Spirits tend to... like me. Even the less friendly ones." This might have sounded a little overconfident, but it was true. Although it probably was just because she knew how to talk to people (and other things) without offending them, something most Garou seemed to lack.
"Do you know how to bind spirits?" she asked. "If not, I could teach you that in return." After all, nothing was free. Even among Garou.

Hands of Mercy nods at Anna's response. "Good, the sooner we begin, the more able you will be by the time you need to use it." He looks thoughtful at the second part of her response. "Nevertheless, I would rather not offer Forest's Hunger to be used by another. The spirit within specifically chose to travel with me, hence its current form."
To her final offer, he responds with another question. "How useful would the Rite be to someone who cannot speak with most spirits?" It is an honest question. He has only known Theurges to have the Rite of Binding, and isn't sure how much the ability to negotiate with the spirit is integral to its use.

"Oh, I have been up to this and that. Looking for secrets you know how us Striders are..." he teased lightly, but it wasn't all teasing for he had been doing that, from the building with the trapped spirit to searching for a missing gypsy kin.
He fell into a content silence as he listened to the two of them banter. Thinking ahead a bit and mulling things over. There was a moot to be had soon, and he was sure he would play a part in that as well. not really realizing it, he had started to hum softly to himself, nothing anyone new, just something that was coming to him as they walked further into the Umbra.

Anna smiled at Simeon. She had to wonder why he was still on his own. He wasn't like the other Striders. She'd always felt he'd do well with their pack. She thought for a few seconds before answering Hands of Mercy's question. It wasn't something she had thought of before. After all, she'd learnt the rite from a Galliard, and he'd never had trouble communicating with Spirits.
"Many spirits speak the language of Garou and humans," she said. "Most of the the ones around the library do, since they're allied with our Caern's totem spirit. You don't need to be a Theurge to communicate with them, especially if you're using rites. Rites sort of circumvent the language barrier." It was difficult to explain, and she wasn't sure she'd done such a good job of it. "Of course, you still have to approach them the right way, or they won't talk to you at all," she added. "Let alone agree to be bound."

Hands of Mercy nods. "Very well, then. Once we have performed the Gathering for Born From a Dark Wish, we can sort out when to start." Hands of Mercy takes a deep breath and lets it out slowly. He is tired, exhausted, but exhilarated at the same time. He feels as things are coming together in a number of ways. He smiles at Anna and Simeon, and returns his attention to scanning for Kamut's dark fur.
