Anna shivered in the presence of his icy breath, and did her best not to flinch as he opened his jaw. Finally, she was here. She was cold, she was no longer tired.
She took a deep breath and tried to look remotely confident.
"Great War Wolf of Fenris," she said carefully. "I am a cub of Fenris. I have journeyed here seeking your blessing. Tell me what I must do."

The war-wolf didn't show any sign of comprehension as it walked up to Anna and circled closely, sniffing her as it did. It eventually stopped directly in front of her. When it spoke, the words came out as growls. "I am on a quest for great Fenris. You can help me, little cub, by playing a small part in it. You do not need to know my greater purpose, only that I require the spirit of a predatory bird to assist me."

"I'll help you," Anna said immediately. "I will find a spirit for you."
Although Anna didn't know their language yet, most Spirits seemed to like her. They certainly treated her better than people did, anyway. She thought it must be a Theurge thing.
She was starting to think that maybe she could do this after all.

The spirit nodded in agreement. "Bird spirits are not close friends of Fenris, it will not be an easy task. Do this for me and I will acknowledge you rightly. Return when you have succeeded." He turns around and walks back into the undergrowth.

And Anna was left alone once more. She turned around, and started back along the path. Anna didn't know much about birds of prey. She was relatively sure she'd seen her share of Owls around the city though.
She had no idea how she was going to get them to agree to help her though.
Let's just concentrate on finding one first...

Anna makes her way on her own into the forest again, trying to remember what she can about owls and their spirit counterparts. Her memory served her well on this occasion and she started looking and sniffing around for signs of the passing of owls. Though she made her way to what she thought would be the right area to find owls she couldn't see any sign of one.

Anna wasn't going to give up just yet. She was sure there were owls around here somewhere. She kept looking around for signs of them, trying her best not to get frustrated. It wasn't going to be easy.

Though Anna moved around the area, sniffing at trees and through the undergrowth finding suggestions of owl around her in a smell or regurgitated rodent carcass she could't see any of them herself.

Oh great, now what...
She was really hoping that some of the owl spirits spoke German. She had seen some Spirits lower themselves to speaking in human tongues. Tapio, the Bear King, had done so on quite a few occasions. Anna wasn't very hopeful, but she was running out of options.
She shifted to homid. "Children of Owl," she said loudly. "In the name of Fenris, I humbly ask for your assistance."
Would one of you please just talk to me...

Unsuprisingly, Owl spirits were not likely to show themselves without reason. At Anna's call however, a hoot from a nearby tree alerted her to the fact she was being watched. There was a flicker of movement from the branches, moving too quickly for her to see. It stopped at a tree close by her, though still above the reach of her arm. The small Tawny owl fixed her with it's gaze and hooted again, before resorting to Anna's human tongue. "What doo yoou desire."

Anna took a deep breath and tried to sound as confident as possible. In the very least, she was able to stop her voice from shaking.
"I need your help," she said. "The war wolf of Fenris has sent me to find you. He needs you to assist him on a quest for great Fenris."
She held her breath, and waited for an answer.

"'Needs' does he? For what reason would I help Fenris achieve his goals? Why does Fenris ask you to do this for him?" The owl looked around the forest suspisciously, it's head twisting back and forth to scan the surroundings. Then it snapped back to focus on Anna again. "And what would 'Great' Fenris need of Owl?"

"I am on a quest to prove myself worthy of the title Cliath," Anna explained, looking up at the Owl. "I am a Garou cub from the last pure Caern in Berlin, which is watched over by Owl. The War Wolf hasn't shared his purpose with me, or why he needs you to help. But if you aid him, I will owe you..."
Anna paused. There really wasn't much she could offer Owl. Actually, there wasn't anything she could offer him. "I promise to repay that debt," she finished lamely.

The owl watched her silently as she explained, blinking once after she finished but stayed silent for a long few uncomfortable seconds. It eventually spoke. "You speak truly and wisely, and hail from a Caern blessed by us. I will do as you request spirit-friend, if you perform a service for me." The bird fell silent again and for a few seconds Anna thought she was expected to reply, but then the owl continued. "The population of my kind in the forest is strong but dwindling in the physical world. Humans steal our eggs, their purpose is unknown to me but it must stop. Do not bring suspiscion from others in doing this, the humans only need to know they must not return." Owl shook and stretched it's wings, though it's head didn't move from being focused on Anna.

That didn't sound like an easy task, but Anna nodded anyway.
"I will do my best," she said. She didn't know if her best was good enough, but she hoped it would be. "Thank you."
She was already looking for a place to step sideways. If she was going to be dealing with humans, she definitely wasn't going to be doing it from this side of the gauntlet.
"Do you know where I can find them?" she asked the Owl.
