The friendly and familiar face is a welcome relief from the strangers and tainted wraiths. It even calms him a little. Not enough to be making good clear sense though:
"Glad to see you. I understand. Out now." Kasiya tries to smile at the news that Martin's safe. The whole affair hadn't been a total failure.
Pressing the palm of his hand against the window, claustraphobia seems to have taken hold as soon as the door slammed shut between him and his friend. His only real friend. Sensing that Fred would follow now, he tries to give him a warning through the glass:
"One of them's with me!"

The van started to move, leaving Fred standing outside the police station. Kasiya could feel the ghost's exhilaration at finally getting free, and at a certain point, he wasn't even sure if it was him or the ghost that was feeling it.
The van moved and stopped so many times that Kasiya had a hard time not getting carsick. Miss Oster offered him some water, but it didn't really help. At one point, it stopped so abruptly that Kasiya fell out of his seat. In fact, it didn't stop so much as crash. Kasiya could hear the screeching tires, the driver swearing, and Miss Oster scream as he experienced his very first automobile accident.
Then things inside the van went quiet.
(Continued in the streets.)
