Anna can barely stay on her feet, let alone concentrate on the delicate task which is healing spinal damage. But as she calls upon Bear's guidance, she doesn't find it too difficult. Vasara stops shaking, his muscles stop twitching, and the internal damage which the book inflicted heals entirely. The only thing left is the dull aching in his burnt joints.
Saxon stood up and walked over to Adran. "Well, you've impressed the boss," he said. "Not many people do that so easily." He looked Adran in the eye and touched him gently. It was strange to see such a large man be so careful and so gentle. "That was a nasty hit," he said. "You're spitting up blood from stomach ulcerations. I can heal you now, but it'll likely come back. You might have trouble with this for a long time." Adran felt the pain fade, and the urge to vomit recede... for now. Saxon turned to Vasara next. "Let's go rip those hounds to shreds," he said.
Vasara heals 3 levels of damage and the battle scar. No more twitching. Adran heals 3 levels of damage, but the battle scar remains.

Adran nodded to Saxon in thanks and reached inside of himself for the connection to Starcaller. He asked her, "What should we do about this book? When one of the members of this pack destroyed it and almost killed everyone, it reformed itself."
After asking his ancestors his question he went over and picked up the longsword, thinking to himself, "Well, even if I don't have the training to use this, it will still be a good relic to have around in the shop. I could always learn later on how to use it.
He went over to Vasara and said, "I'm able to do the rite of cleansing. But if you want me to accompany you, I will do so instead. But I think that since the book itself is tainted, we could try to cleanse it and then destroy it."

"Thanks." Vasara said to Anna and as if to test his nerves, tried to hold his hands steady in front of him. They still shook, but only on limits of normal. "I called the Bear, he should be close now if we need help. That is if he heard me. Kamut, heal Nadezhda, she looks like shit and we need her claws when in umbra." Vasara looked at Adran suspiciously. "Child of Gaia? Can you heal her?" Vasara nudged his head toward Anna.
"You know the Rite? Good." Vasara said and prepared for the second round. "You can help Anna with cleaning this place, both physically and spiritually. I want only packmembers in a fight, we can't risk on tripping on non-member during battle. I also want to know how Rite of Cleansing affects that book. That book needs to get closed permanently."
Vasara walked south, leaving the book behind. "We kill the hounds one by one. Kamut lures them to us, and we three fight as triangle, if hound attacks one of us, rest of us attacks it's flanks."

Kamut pulled himself to his feet and looked again between Nadya and Anna, unsure of who needed him more. But the Alpha had spoken, so he stepped up to Nadya and used the gift of Bear to heal her wounds. Saxon, Nadya and Kamut then followed Vasara.
As soon as they reached a safe distance from where the hounds had been earlier, the pack (minus Anna) stepped sideways into the Umbra. Here they could see no movement in the darkness.
For reference, you are back where you started in the first map, south of the clearing. Nadya heals up fully. 6 successes on Mother's Touch. Adran and Anna can move here

"Spread out a bit." Vasara said to Nadezhda and Saxon. "If Kamut manages to pull Hound at us, the best situation would be if we could end up attacking it from all sides." This would in the end be the most simple thing they had done this far. Attract attention, lure it away from reinforcements, destroy the bane, repeat. "We don't know how strong they actually are, so no fooling around. If more than one appears, scatter and try to focus on one Bane at time."
Vasara looked at Kamut. "Run like hell and don't get killed."

The pack spread out and headed north towards the clearing. Vasara was vaguely aware of Saxon and Nadya's positions, although Kamut quickly dropped out of sight. As he approached the tree stump in the Umbra, he saw the remains of the first hound. Not far from the stump, the black sphere that Kamut had described was still there. It smelled of rot and decay, and gave Vasara the same dreadful feeling that the book did when he saw it. The sphere itself looked like it was pulsing, but had flecks of white spattered throughout its surface. It didn't seem like it was growing, but seemed to be waiting patiently for something to happen. The Blight around the sphere was bare, and it looked like to him that something had blasted the area clean of everything.

Vasara waited for Kamut to make her scouting run. He had no idea what the sphere was or what to do to sphere, only thing he could think of was to perform Rite of Cleansing on the area. But first they needed to find out if any of the hounds were alive and put them out of their misery. At least he knew what to do to them. Tear them until they fall. ((sorry for one-liner but Vasara lacks details so... ))

Vasara's head snapped up as he heard a rustling in the woods, but it was only Kamut's hispo form that emerged. "Dead," he said. "All of them."
Saxon joined him as well, and shifted to Crinos and spoke in the Mother's Tongue. "We found some remains towards the north," he said. "Whatever almost killed Anna and Kamut must've killed them. They didn't look particularly roughed up."
Nadya appeared too, but just looked generally disappointed that there was nothing to kill.
Before Vasara could decide what to do, the sphere beside started to brighten. At first it turned white, then it grew, and then it burst into a flash of white light that blinded the four Garou. As it did, they felt their connection to Gaia strengthen, and their spirit replenished as if they'd just had a very large dose of Vasara's spirit brew.
Everyone regains full gnosis, but is blinded for a few seconds.

Hounds were dead? That was eerie. "This is... weird." Vasara said and looked at the Sphere. Then something happened again. Vasara rubbed his eye to regain his vision... Shit! Were they attacked again? Surprised again like a bunch of Cubs? The warm surge inside him cooled him down a bit, but still, this was weird. "Take cover." he said on Mother's Tongue and waited, using his hearing and scent to understand his surroundings.
"That... was weird." Vasara looked around. "Enemies are dead and... I don't know. This shit is way over my head but it seems like we succeeded here somehow."
"Let's return to Anna. Maybe she did something."

Even without Anna to pull them through, it didn't take the pack long to make it across the gauntlet.Continued here.
