The run back to the Caern was hard and exhausting, but the group got strength from their recent victory. The night was almost over. The sun was rising. And as they ran, the three swans flew overhead, watching their return.
Cloud-Dancer, Max, Yvonne, Adiyah, Vasara and Anna approached the Caern from the Umbral side. They could sense something was wrong, even from a distance. The Guardian himself was nowhere in sight. In fact, there were very few spirits anywhere in sight. Cloud-Dancer and Anna, whose connection to Gaia was strongest, felt it first. The swans became maidens, and drew their swords. Finally, the others could feel it too. It was as if the Caern had lost its connection to the Umbra. It seemed weak and tired, and no different to the rest of the city. It was a terrible feeling.
And as that sank in, Danny landed a few metres from them. He had flown out to meet them. "Corinna," he said. There were still some burns over his skin, but he was recognisable at least, and he had his face back. He looked over the six Garou. "Are you all that's left?"

At a much slower pace, Simeon came hobbling up, his body to was still badly burned. He was mostly functioning on auto pilot, follow Danny since he had awaken from the horrid pain. Why did it always have to be fire...just once a nice acid bath...or ice even. It was these rambling thought, as silly and random as they were that was keeping him semi focused.
He looked over the ones who had returned, a sadness creeping there, especially if what Danny had said was correct, and this was all to have survived.

The thuerge had been saddened by the losses but bolstered by the fact that a victory had been earned. When the group approached the caern, she slowed her pace feeling a sense of dread almost before they'd come in sight of the place. The lack in number and stength of the spirits was most diconcerting. This didn't feel like the caer. Not like coming home.
It was as she slowed to a near halt that she caught sight of Danny flying. It was a feeling of relief, if but a small one. As he landed and surveyed them all, she could see he was injured, but had no gnosis left to help. Simeon she noticed coming too, again injured. Adiyah's heart sank, but she shook her head to answer his question, as it seemed the others were too stunned to speak. "Others made it as well. Saxon, Anna, and Claire are coming by car. I think Micah and Ben are coming too. Walks With Death Rhya...........what has happened here? Why does this place feel barren and broken now?"
She shivered and it wasn't the cold. It just felt............wrong.

"What happened?" Cloud-Dancer asked. "Have you allowed the Caern to be overrun in the short time we were away?"
"Not overrun," Danny said, angry that she would even suggest such a thing. "They're in the village, wreaking havoc on the forest. They haven't broken in, but it's not what they want. It was a distraction. They were hoping to draw you out."
He pointed to the moongem which hung around Cloud-Dancer's neck since the day she was assigned the position of Gatekeeper.
Cloud-Dancer took it off and gave it to Adiyah.
"You know where to take it," she said. "You three are the only ones who do. Go now and don't turn back. Your deeds today, they have shown you are ready to be recognised as Fostern. If we meet again after this, we will make it official. But now, run. No arguments!"
She handed Adiyah the stone.

Max wondered if this was exactly the way it happened before. He could picture it in his mind, his uncle leaving to hide the pathstone while the others...
He wanted to stay. He didn't want to be the one who ran away while the others stayed and fought. But he also couldn't leave his pack to do this on their own.
"We'll be back," he said. Then he shifted to Lupus.

Adiyah widened her eyes and took the pathstone, putting it around her neck. So they had come for this? The thuerge was confused. Phoenix had given it to them. Now they had to put it back?
Sadly, questions could wait until after. There had to be an after. At Cloud Dancer's words she nodded in appreciation of the recognition. They would gain rank if they returned. Adiyah narrowed her eyes, a look of determination on her face. She looked to Max as he spoke and gave one sharp nod, putting her hand on the adren's arm. "Claws of Fire is right, Rhya. We'll see eachother again. A promise I keep."
The fian shifted down with Max and lead them off. She was worried about everyone's fate, but inaction would solve nothing.

New Thread for Adiyah and Max.
"I hope so," Cloud-Dancer said as the three shifted to lupus and headed off. She'd seen then run. They were the fastest pack they had. She looked at Danny.
"You said they're in the forest?" she asked.
Danny nodded. "From what I've heard, they're preparing for something," he said.
"Let's go ruin their preparations then," Cloud-Dancer said.
Danny smiled grimly and looked at Simeon, hurt and confused as he was, and then at Vasara and Anna. "Do you think you're up for one last battle?"

Simeon brushed a bit of hair from his face and looked over at Danny. "I am in....just point me where to go. I ain't missing this fight. I will manage and carry on." He favored Danny with a rather feral grin as he spoke. "After all, sounds grim and we need a decent talespinner there to sing our praises afterwards."

"That's the spirit, Strider!" Vasara laughed and punched Simeon playfully to his probably very sore shoulder "You are returning my hopes for your Tribe!". Then he looked at Anna and shrugged. They were Fenrir, and there was only one way of action where they would go in situation like this.
Vasara looked at Danny and smirked as if he had asked the most stupid question in the history of Garou Nation. "When I haven't been ready? Death or Victory, both are ways to Glory and Honor if met with head held high."

Vasra's punch did hit a sore spot, but all Simeon did was flash a wicked grin back "Well, I can do more than run you know....I play a mean accordion according to my mum." At the last his grin became a wicked feral smile, leave it to Simoen to always make a joke even in the face of danger. He always saw himself giving death the finger if and when he met it, a quaint but very appealing visual. Lookng back at the other he gave a nod to show he a nod to show he was with Vasra on this.

(Cue cut-scene:)
"Wait a while longer," Danny said. Then he closed his eyes and called on his totem, the large white owl they had all seen plenty of times before. When the call was answered, he asked owl a question.
"What did your children see?"
"The Wyrm's servants in their forest. They gather around Wyrm-taint in a circle, and hold many of our Sept prisoner. Many more than even you can fight alone. But you will fight them anyway, because you must stop them at all costs."
"What is it we need to stop?"
"The tipping of the scales," Owl said cryptically. "The city's future is yet uncertain. Many search for peace, while others incite conflict. But the Beast-of-War has no vision of peace. And the minds of the people are easily swayed. The children of the Wyrm seek to bring him among us today. If they succeed, the third war will come. And it will be the war to end all wars. I have foreseen it."
"Then we have no time to waste. What must we do?"
"Stop the ritual any way you can."
"Will you tell the world what you saw today?" Danny asked.
"I will."
"Thank you." Danny nodded respectfully. "You have never led us wrong. We will fight for your city."
"Children of Bear and Raven, my brood is weakened and cannot fight. But I can give you my guidance. I hope it serves you well in this battle."
They could all feel it, Owl's guidance. For Anna and Vasara, Bear's wasn't gone, but they were suddenly aware of both spirits. Simeon could feel it too, for the first time in his life, he felt a connection to other Garou he had not felt before. Even if this grouping was temporary, it was the strongest bond he'd ever felt. But the most obvious indication of Owl's guidance were the powerful white wings, much like Danny's, that grew out of their backs and made the women look a little like swan-maidens.
(You all temporarily gain Owl as a totem. For those who already have a totem, you now have two and enjoy the benefits of both. One more post each, in case you have any last words. Then we fly into the final battle.)

"*And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels." Simeon murmured as he took a look at them all now with their glowing wings. Indeed it was something so akin to what one would expect in the end days that the quote from Revelations seemed eerily appropriate.
Looking around he gave a short curt nod, he was ready.

Saxon glanced at Claire as he drove, she was quiet looking out of the window. No big surprise there, she had lost a good friend in the battle and that always hurt.
“You OK?” Claire looked at him, “You mean can I fight, yes I can, am I alright otherwise then no. Losing Maria hurt like a bitch, but it goes with our life style does it not.”
Saxon sighed, “Aye not many of use die in our beds of old age.” Claire half laughed and then resumed her watching the road as Saxon pulled his Cab into the Cearn and drove it up to the main door. As he cut of the engine Claire said, “I am going to get wasted toasting Maria, you can join me if you wish.” Saxon nodded, “I did not know her well, but I will join you in the wake.”
They got out of the Cab and walked towards the building.

David had headed back to the caern with Cloud-Dancer, but he split up when they reached the bawn. His path sort of took him towards home, but the loud gunshots had gotten his attention as he walked. He started heading back to the caern, moving as fast as he could to reach it. Seeing Saxon headed up the path, he followed him.
Home could wait while he found out what was going on.

Micah slipped up and into the group on silent feet, watching as was his way and listening, He gave a slight smile as well to Simeon’s exuberant reply and noted Vasra’s reply back made him smile to himself. Perhaps when this was all over, and Gaia willing they all survived, the Strider would finally find a pack to keep him here. He had proven to be an asset to the Caern and with Vasra’s recent loss…
Shaking his head, he smirked to himself. Too much time as a human, his thoughts were wandering as theirs tended to. Seeing that Simeon was carrying some wounds, he moved closer. “If you will allow I will see what I can do about those new injuries of your before we go into combat.”
