Having someone come in and take charge of the kin was a bit of a relief to Em. She had heard the gun fire, but had been loath to leave the kin girl alone. But now that she and the others were in a more secure place, she was more than eager to investigate the gun shots. Shifting back to her homid form she gave a simple nod of yes, as she waited for him to get the gun or guns. Assuming that was his intentions.

Carsten nodded and handed her a rather heavy pistol. It was silenced and came with a scope.
"Aim low to compensate for the recoil," he said. "Keep it hidden until you need to use it."
He took his own shotgun. It was big and bulky and there was no way he would be able to conceal it. He didn't seem too bothered though.
"Let's go," he said.

But they hadn't even made it to the door when a dull sense of despair and loneliness washed over the two of them. The usual peaceful feeling of the Caern seemed to be draining away. They felt dull and stupid compared to the usual mind-opening effect the Caern usually had on them. It was as if the Caern itself was dying slowly.
Carsten froze and looked at Emelie, but didn't need to ask if she'd felt it too. The answer was clearly written on her face.

Em nodded to him as he gave her the advice, double checking to make sure a round was chambered as she did so, and that the safety was off. Then with the gun held low she started to follow him as he headed for the door.
The strange emotion tinged feeling rolled over and through her, it was staggering. Blinking a few moments to clear her head she looked up at Carstens and his face. he felt it too. "What in Gaia's name is going on?" It was nothing she had ever felt before, well almost. She shivered as she recalled the bane back in the States...this was close oh so close.

This was followed by the sounds of a loud explosion coming from the forest. When they looked out the windows, they could see the forest fire spreading, and thick black smoke blown towards the Caern. But what worried Carsten the most was the sudden burst of green flame that lit up the forest. It wasn't close enough to affect the Caern, but it almost reached the edge of the forest.
"This isn't good," he said. "Cliaths are patrolling out there." He looked at Emelie. "Get your pack back here," he said. "Don't worry about the library. It's in good hands. I have to find out what happened here."

Katrine shifted up into Crinos, arming herself and holding Tyrfing in both hands. Things were getting bad out there and therefore she did not hesitate to cross over ready to kick some BSD butt
(boardgame day, so if you need to, Katrine will just follow and play tank for the two Theurges.)

(Not to worry. Weekends are slow posting days.)
Carsten turned away from the window when Katrine and Kasiya appeared in the library. He would have asked them why they left their post, but the fact that they did saved their lives, and so he was quite relieved to see them.
"Did you see what happened?" he asked. He looked at Katrine, who seemed to be ready for a fight. He looked at Kasiya and Emelie and weighed out the options. Katrine would be of more use if they got bogged down in a fight without breaking the high ban. Kasiya did not have weapons. "Katrine, go with Emelie," he said. "Her alpha has disappeared, and her pack mates went looking for him and haven't returned. Be very careful. This place will be crawling with firefighters within minutes." That left him and Kasiya. "I have to find the Guardian, and find out what did this," he said. "There's something in the forest. Spirals likely, or Fomori. Track down the other two Cliaths in the forest. They might be in trouble. All of you, remember the ban. Especially now."

Em nodded and then stopped. She had been inside the library and had no idea where the others had gone. Looking over at Carsten's "Where did they go? I was inside and didn't see the directions they went"

"I'm not sure, but I think they headed down the street towards Jan's car," Carsten said, pointing in the direction of West. "One building down. That was right before we heard the gunshots."

Katrine shifted down into homid form, suddenly holding a back in her hand, she quickly hid the sword away and nodded to her elder. Then she turned her gaze at Em. “If it’s fine with you, I will take point? If we run into anyone you are a friend of a friend, that I promised a coach for a few days, we saw the smoke and got worried, but not we are leaving to get home.” She could understand if Em said no, it was her pack after all and the story, it was simple and it covered the quick questions from any “officials”. She nodded to Kasiya, he had been great and she had got the feeling, that not many of the others liked him very much, but she had been the outsider once and when something was good work, it deserved approval

Em nodded as she listened to the girls rapid speech. It sounded like a firm idea and was a good cover for the sword, shrugging she tucked the gun into the back if her pants and under her shirt and nodded. "Fine...that sounds reasonable. let's get going...." As she gestured towards the door.

And so Katrine headed outside, looking up and down the street. She had meet Jona and Jess once, Jona was no light weight so it was possible that there where Spirals involved and anything that affected the Caern this was bad news, could you destroy a Caern?
(Keeping an eye out for anything funny)

Kat and Em can stay in this thread. Kasiya can go here: Back on Patrol
Katrine and Emelie reached the streets and started in the direction that Carsten had sent them in. The car in question was parked near a house around the corner. It was a quick jog or walk down the block. The village was a lot less quiet now that gunshots, explosions, and forest-fires were in the picture. Police and fire sirens could be heard approaching. They were going to have to remain inconspicuous.
You are the blue dot. Heading towards the black dot. Again this is just for visualisation.

Kasiya had shifted to Glabro before he stepped sideways, mindful of the ban even in the heart of the Caern. He'd listened intently throughout. He smiles back at Kat as she nods, then leaves. It was good to recieve a positive reaction from another Garou for a change.
-----
As Katrine and Em leave, Kasiya waits a moment longer to report to Carsten what he'd seen:
"You probably know most of this, but we found the gauntlet too thick. It took effort for me to pass and here it never has yet here. We crossed over to send a spirit back as a warning when we saw the fires.
It's like the library isn't a Caern anymore. The penumbra feels dead and empty, the spirits aren't as vital as they should be. They knew the green fire was coming though. Tried to get away. We came across Jess' Cat. It said that 'first she was there and then she wasn't'. It said the same about the Caern and the Guardian."
Since Carsten was going in search of the guardian it might help, or so he hopes. Kasiya knows he's not a patch on an Elder Theurge, but he wants to give all the help he can. He leaves it at that, hesitating a moment longer in case Carsten wants anything else; a question or another order.

"The Caern is still there," Carsten said. "Only it's hurt. Someone did this. And they couldn't have done it from the outside."
He nodded, impressed with Kasiya's perceptiveness. "Owl's brood will usually see danger coming. Be careful of the green fire. Take a weapon if you can, but stay clear of any humans. I'm sure Walks-with-Death will try to steer them away, but be careful anyway."
"I will find out who did this."
