Flapping her wings, Abby lowers herself over the park's gates and looks around the Umbral landscape.
"Owl?" She calls out, "You rang?"
She shifts her dufflebag on her sholder, uncomfortably waiting for a reply.

Owl's avatar appears, in all its glory, flapping it's powerful wings and landing close to Abby. (Forgive the cheesiness, I'm eating)
Follow... the spirit.
And sure enough, not much further away, Abby could make out a rather confused looking spirit. It looked rather lost. It also looked to be in a hurry.

Frowning a little, Abby shrugs.
"You're the boss." She says, smiling at Owl.
Taking to the skies once again, she looks down at the spirit, and begins tailing the thing.

The spirit becomes increasingly confused, and more difficult to follow. It streaks off in the direction of the city, and appears to be looking for something. Then, suddenly, it disappears.
With a bird's eye view, Abby looks around for a disturbance in the Umbra. And she is not disappointed. Down below, and surrounded by nasty pattern spiders, she can see a girl in her mid-teens. Upon closer inspection, she seems to be in a right state of shock, but alive.

Dammit... Abby thinks to herself.
Thinking quickly, she slides her dufflebag off her shoulder and grabs it with her left hand. Unzipping the thing, she fumbles around for a second or two before producing a large milk carton, which she grips in her teeth, and, after a second longer, an AK47.
Re-zipping and slinging the bag back over her shoulder, she takes the milk carton, which appears to have some kind of electronic device attached to it, fumbles with it for a split-second, then tosses the thing a few yards to the left of the group of spiders.
Distraction, check... She thinks to herself as she levels the AK at the group.
Almost as soon as the carton contacts solid ground, it detonates. With a loud bang, her makeshift distraction sends flames, shrapnel, and smoke in all directions.
At that, she opens fire, swooping down to attack the spiders.
Destruction... check.

The plan works, or at least it seems to. The Spiders scatter in all directions, obviously freaked. Unfortunately, so is the girl, and she takes off in a run up the street, oblivious to the Umbral dangers that lurk there.

Stupid girl... Abby thinks to herself as she ejects the empty clip, flips it upside-down, and reinserts it.
"YOU!" She calls out, pursuing the girl down the street, "STOP! I'M HERE TO HELP YOU!"

The girl looks back.
She looks tired, scared, and quite about ready to lose her mind. But she stops. Mostly she stops because the woman sounded human. And whether she was real or just a hallucination, she was the first human Anna had seen in a while.
Ok, she's flying... but that's not the weirdest thing I've seen today.

Resting the AK on her shoulder as she touches down, Abby folds her wings back as best she can.
"Some pretty freaky shit 'round here, huh?" She says, smiling, "You seen the Cheshire Cat yet?"
Before the girl can answer, she continues.
"Name's Abby," She says, "And no, I'm not an angel. Anywho, how'd a little lamb like you wind up in a place like this?"

"Are you... real?"
This might have sounded like a very odd thing to say. But Anna was finding it particularly difficult to tell what was real today.
"I don't know, I took my medication... I'm sure I took it, this shouldn't be happening!" she says frantically.

Abby taps the AK on her shoulder as she speaks.
"Real as those spider-things that had you surrounded," She says, her smile returning, "No, you're not hallucinating. No, there's no magic pill to get rid of these things... if only there was."
She pauses for a moment, before placing an arm over the girl's shoulder.
"So what's your name, kiddo?" She asks, nodding for her to walk with her.

Anna seems to realise she doesn't have much of a choice. Besides, when you've been trapped in wonderland all day, you'll actually be thankful of a human to talk to, regardless.
"Anna," she says, starting to calm down a little, but still sounding shaky. "How did you get here? Can we get back?"
She had been dreading tbeing stuck here.

Abby gives the girl a reassuring pat on the shoulder.
"Yeah, we can get back," She says, continuing walking down the street, "We're in a place called the 'Umbra'... as you can see, it's kinda like Alice in Wonderland."
She stops suddenly, reaching for her bag.
"You thirsty?"She asks, as she fishes around in her dufflebag for the can of soda Kaleb gave her, and that old bottle of Coke that must still be in there somewhere.

"What... no," she walked after the the older girl, not quite understanding how she could take all this so calmly. It was as if this was a daily thing for her: wake up, brush teeth, step into other worlds through the looking glass... wait a minute!
"How did we get here... I was staring into the mirror and... has this place always been here?"
She couldn't seem to shake the feeling that all of this was oddly familiar, like something she had seen in a dream.

"Bingo!" Abby says suddenly, before looking up from her dufflebag, "Sorry, not you, the drink."
She holds up her unopened can, a silly smile on her face.
"But yeah, pretty much," She says, cracking open the can, "You look into something reflective, I tend to use my wristwatch..."
She flashes Anna her cheap, crappy watch.
"And you just kinda... will it."
She shrugs, as if it were nothing, and takes a sip of soda.
"I think the Umbra used to be part of the real world once upon a time," She continues after a couple of swallows, "But Gaia... she's like our 'God', before you ask... split them apart when she got drunk one night..."
She shrugs again.
"...or something like that, anyway."
