Danny and Micah reached the Umbral side of the Caern and looked around. They were still in their homid forms, but despite that they could still sense the unrest the battle had caused even on this side of the gauntlet. The Caern Spirits were restless, uneasy, and most were spooked. But then this wasn't the first time the Caern had fought for its survival, nor would it be the last.
Danny stood outside the Umbral representation of the library and frowned.
"I am sorry about Eric, I know the two of you were close friends. For him to leave his homeland to follow you all the way here... not many kin would have done that. It was cruel that his life was wasted. But he died a hero's death, and if he were Garou he would have been given a hero's rite..."
Danny stopped again and waited for Micah to say something.

Micah had been looking around, the unrest of the spirits making him wonder what exactly happened here. Wasn't a caern supposed to be way harder to throw into total chaos? Fuck if he knew....oh, there. Painful stabs...wow, this hurt. He pressed a hand to the squished up form of where his heart shouldn't be...close to his stomach. Fuck...it was hitting him. Not now...."Not now....but thanks."
Friend...hardly. His first human mate, and his most favored. Monogamy never really stuck on him as being practicle, but his favorite was his baby. Eric...he'd howl for him. "We can howl for our fallen....after we shred the fucker's that dared to attack here."
Right...push it to something useful. Rage...never, lead to alot of death, on the wrong side. No, cold and clear plotting and death was his plan. He turned wolf eye's to his sire, his form shifting to that of Hispo as he did. Leaner than some feral's, but then being bigger than a small horse helped. He shook his fur to straighten it, blonde to black spattered tips.
They kill us. We kill them. Fair, no? His stare didn't waver as he kept and held his father's eyes. What happened? What attacked us?

"Well, they're not human, that's for sure," Danny said as he trotted around the Caern, making sure the warning Spirits were still there. "Unless whoever sent them has an army of kinfolk at his disposal... because none of them suffered the delirium. If we had one alive, we could question them."
He stopped near a few particularly agitated spirits and thought that the Sept really needed a fully fledged experienced Theurge. They had gone without one too long. "What do you think? Any ideas?"

Micah had been following behind, though a bit off. He took in what he saw...
He was so not playing maid...not his mess. Sigh...right. And he's sprout wings out his ass to...
Ideas...."Might be that pack of shit we fought that ways back, or what remenants we left of them." He took care to sniff out the place...nothting really odd stuck out, yet. The agitated spirits though..."That and we need a theurge right bad. This poor bastard here would spill it all if we had a way of it."

"Dancers you mean?" Danny looked around at Micah. "But why would they send a wave of highly trained kin instead of attacking themselves?" He shook his head. "I think they've accepted who's boss, even if they don't like it. Didn't you say they ran like cowards when you arrived? I fear this might be a lot more sinister than a pack if Dancers, if that's possible."
He pondered this for a while, a frown on his wolf face. Then he turned again to Micah. He always noted how different he looked when he saw his son in wolf form. He was so much less his son, and so much more Fianna.
"Well, let's scout this area out," he said. "I'll take the west side, you take the east. Don't go too far off, and if you find anything, howl."

Micah nodded then started checking out the east side. First though, he shifted to his hispo form. Liked it better anyway, and his senses could pick up far more. So, noseing everything that had looked even remotely out of place, he made his way about searching for clues.
Hum...They really needed a Theurge. Perhaps he could call in a favor from down south? Doubtful...but, worth a shot. They really could use that spirit speech right about now, as he looked back at all the freaked out spirits hovering about the scene. Hummmm...well, maybe he did have one idea.
He kicked up his own gift of speech and went over to one of the worried ones and leaned down so he could see it better, now that he was human form again. "Little one, can you show me where the bad one's came from?"
(Persuasion on the bugger...not sure it will work, but worth a shot.)

The tiny bird spirit looked perplexedly at Micah. It cocked it's little head and looked around, then it stared pointedly in the direction of East. A few seconds later it flew a short way Eastwards, towards the city, and then turned back to Micah and started pointedly at him again.[/i]

Micah smirked, catching on quick. "Danny! Come...I think I found something!" He waited for a moment then looked back at the bird spirit. Flighty thing...probably best to not make it wait to long. "Hurry!"
Soon as his sire was in sight range, he started following the bird. Slowly at first, so that Danny could catch up if he so choose.

As soon as Micah reached the bird, it took off again and fluttered further away. Micah was now well down the street and away from the Caern. Danny didn't seem to have heard, or he was too busy to follow a bird spirit. Either way, Micah found himself alone, tailing the tiny spirit. After a few minutes of this, the bird seemed to be satisfied that Micah was following, and it stopped pausing every now and then, leading Micah through the city at a wolf's running pace.

Micah sighed, but continued following the bird spirit, silently as possible. Least it was umbra side, otherwise this would be a pain. Wolf in the city...yea, that would go over well. He snorted once, easily keeping up with the bird. Course, he was keeping lookout for danger as well.
He'd tell his sire about this when he returned.

The bird led the way, and Micah followed. He ran for what seemed to be hours, eventually losing track of time until he reached what seemed to a large barrier. Thousands of pattern spiders worked away, spinning this large wall of web which separated the city. The bird stopped and hovered slightly over the wall, waiting.[/i]

Micah didn't like this...the spider's even less so. What were they up to? Best inform the pack of that later. His new human side was screaming at him to turn back...tell the other's the threat was from over the east wall. Hardly a suprise though. No...he needed more information than that.
With a final look over his shoulder, he jumped up on top of the wall, mindful of the spiders. "Lead on, friend." He was being stupid...lets hope it didn't bite his own tail off. But...no answers wouldn't help them figure out the cause of this attack, either. He did mark the wall where he was, having the need to pee anywho.
If his father was following, he'd know where he went now, at least. Ahh...feel's good...been holding that one to long. He grinned, then waited for the bird to set off again. Carefully here, friend...not liked this side. Hope the spirit got it, otherwise this was going to get interesting...

Micah cleared the wall easily, his gift enabling him to leap beyond the boundaries of regular wolves. He located the bird easily and followed it once more through the east side of the city. Everything about this part of Berlin made Micah uneasy, whether it was the unfamiliarity of its streets, the high concentration of weaver spirits, or the feeling that the banes were lurking there, just out of sight... waiting.
Then the bird stopped, staring pointedly down a road Micah had never seen before. Although it said nothing, the message was clear: It would go no further, but Micah's answers would be found just down that road.

Micah stopped as the bird did, clearly not liking this whole situation. Every hair on his body was on end...even his short and curlies. One did not go off into enemy territory...especially alone without anything. Still, they needed information, and this seemed to be leading him to it. He thanked the spirit, then waited for it to flitter off before he moved another step.
Still...got to go in all stealth like. He shifted to lupus first, since it was his form. Then, carefully and silently, he stalked down the street. Clinging to cover and being utterly paranoid as only a philadox can, he worked his way down, using his senses to discover whatever was to be had. He stopped often, using everything at his disposal to protect himself.

A few steps, and Micah could already tell why the bird had refused to go further, or at least he thought he could tell. He was nearing something particularly nasty. He could hear the wailings of a thousand tortured souls, and smell the foul stench of death. He knew what it was almost at once.
Congratulations: You have uncovered a hellhole on the East Side of Berlin. What now?
