Just some general rules to keep this a safe environment for roleplayers.
1. No ridiculously powerful characters. All character sheets need to be approved by Admin. All characters will be starting characters unless otherwise specified. Twinks are heavily frowned upon, munchkinism is not tolerated, and Mary Sues will laughed off the site.
2. The obvious rule of no moving, speaking or acting for any character other than your own.
3. Try not to post around characters if they are offline. A few posts is fine, but it's considered bad form to let them lag behind. If someone is holding back the game IM them or let admin contact them.
4. I have a big "No Smut" rule on this site. If all you're here to do is to hook up and get laid, visit Chicago. Everything in that respect will be rated PG-13 on pain of death... err I mean getting banned. No sex scenes, no partially nude Avatars, etc.
5. However, this site is rated adult when it comes to violence and language. If you have a problem with strong language or graphic violence, then this site probably isn't for you.
6. Please be civil to other players. This rule does not extend In Character.
7. Be descriptive and creative in your posts. Although sometimes one liners are acceptable, don't make it a habit, it's not good replaying and it's a waste of web space.
8. Keep your head in game. The World of Darkness is one scary place, if you mess up, you die. And you cannot be resurrected. So if you like your character, know your limitations.
9. Do not use OOC information to your advantage IC. This is a big offense, so any such posts will be deleted.
10. Remember that we are all here to have fun, but if you do so at others expenses, they will be allowed to respond in kind, so don't do anything that you would complain others are doing to you.
11. No Membership Parking: Once you are registered you have a week to contact the admin (username = admin) or your account will be deleted.
Old players who have not logged in for a week will be considered AWOL and ghosted until they return. Once the player has been considered AWOL for a month, their character will be ST'ed out of the main storyline pending their return to the game.
We all have real life issues, so nobody's getting kicked off for inactivity. I just want to make sure that one player doesn't hold off the game for the rest of the group.
Writing Tips
1. Ideally, use third person on the forum and past tense. I'm not enforcing the tense thing, as I know some people are just too wired to the present tense. But if you're wondering how to write, then third person present is best.
For example:
-I walk into the room and there is a man with a meat cleaver chopping bits off my dad. <-- BAD
-He walked into the room and found a man with a meat cleaver making pancakes. <-- Better
2. Use quotation marks for speech. Use yellow for alternate characters you're posting with your same account, and green for phone conversations. Any other fonts and colours you want to use to make your post read better are ok, as long as the colours are readable.
3. Using foul language is fine as long as it's part of the character, but using it in your posts is just bad writing.
For example:
"Crud, Hamburgers," she said. No fucking way was she letting him get away with it. <-- Bad
"What the FUCK?" she said. There was no way she was letting him get away with it. <-- Better
4. Spellchecker is not a substitute for literacy.
No, seriously, it's hardly helpful. If in doubt, use a dictionary, especially if you're American
5. If you really have to, use (OOC:) for out of character comments. Preferrably, you should use the designated area or PM's for that, unless you're declaring your combat actions.
Thanks for taking the time to read these.
Please enjoy the site.
