The soldier kin is glad for the departure of the brash one. He hadn't even known her name and she was already bantering with him about group sex. He leaned back, face showing the discomfort in the movement. Keith slept quietly, taking a measure of comfort in his father's proximity.
- Adiyah smiled as Maria came to her side, putting her arms up so she could return the hug. "Same to you." It felt good that they were so happy to see her. What didn't feel quite so good was what happened next. As she was being squished in an excited hug, something inside her shifted a bit and poked into her. Maria might have even felt it. "Easy not too tight." She groaned.
As Maria stepped back she rubbed the spot through her shirt that felt odd. There was a bump there second rib from the bottom on the right , and she touched it gingerly and frowned. She could push it back but it didn't stay down. "Well, that's odd." She muttered quietly.
She was glad for the distraction of questions, and smiled to Yvonne. "Yes, both are alright. Keith has some broken and bruised ribs from our fall, and Klaus is torn up, but both are banaged. Both will heal and live. Thanks to all of you." She looked to everyone in the room, Kamut and Saxon included, but her eyes lingered longest on her packmates, especially Max. She had seen what he did, and was amazed at his bravery. "I don't know if I can ever thank you enough for what you have done for me and my family today. We are all lucky to be here."
She turned to Max and shook her head. "I'm afraid not, but I'm going to have to go back there, collect some things perhaps tomorrow. We'll make sure to get it, if it's still there. It's not safe for Klaus or Keith to go there right now." As soon as she said it she sighed, realizing something else. "Or quite possibly ever. The spirals know where it is. I'm going to have to ask Danny if there's a place for us to stay around here, at least for a while."

Maria nodded to Kamut. "Yes, I know and take pride from it" she said, smiling.
As Adiyah looked to be in pain, Maria quickly let go of her. So, everyone was a bit hurt. "Adiyah, you might want someone to look at that. Could be harmful in fights" Maria whimpered, as she was used to both wolf and human expressions at the same time, she also lowered her head down in respect. " Oh yeah my cane, I left it at the foot of the stairs when I took my near-wolf form. amazing nobody tripped on it"

"The cane might still be there, but if the cops showed up already then my gun's done for," Max said said. Luckily, they couldn't trace it back to him, or they might start asking questions.
He shook his head and smiled at Adiyah. "It nothing you wouldn't have done for our kin, if it came to it," he said. "I'm glad everyone's ok. Your family can stay with my cousin. Evie's got a big place, and it's closer to the Caern."
He looked down at his arm wound. It would take a couple more days at least. That guy had big teeth. Maybe he should stay there too. It was within walking distance.

At Max's mention of his cousin's house, Maria seems to think for a few minutes. " I think I'll stay at the Caern, I haven't had a proper rest in two days now and I need to meet some of the newer arrivals" she says, sitting on her bed and rubbing her leg a bit.
"Besides, Cloud-Dancer hinted that she would give me battle training and we have this library full of books about occult, which I need to read" she says, winking with her left eye.

She smiles, glad that Adiyah's family are well, though they can only hope the experience hasn't traumatised the child. "Of course if you go back I'll come with you, I suppose we shouldn't travel alone too much right now." Yvonne nods gravely, the attack really hadn't helped her own confidence in her father's safety - or her own when she sleeps. "If you don't have enough room, Max, daddy could probably put someone up. We've got a spare room and I'm sure he wont mind."

Kamut frowns as they talk about going back to what might be a crime scene already. "If you do mean to go back, I would volunteer to come with you. I feel I am more likely to go unnoticed, I might even be able to get in and get what you need if the police are already interfering."

Adiyah shook her head. "It's nothing much, Maria. Might not be done healing or something. The caern is a good place for you for now. It's safer here and more people to teach you, as you said."
She smiled, the one eyed fang would unfortuantely have to fight with a larger handicap now than ever, but that made defending herself an even higher priority skill. Max's words made her smile. "I would in a heartbeat, Max. That would be nice, I'd hate to have to split them up into other places. As long as Evie won't mind, I'd hate to impose."
Adiyah smiled at the fury. "Thanks Yvonne, I agree, not a good idea to go alone anyplace right now. As juvenile as it seems everyone in the caern should use a buddy system until we figure this all out. No guarantee they won't strike again, soon."
The thought brought a shiver up her spine. Anyone caught alone would probably be even less lucky than their pack had been. She was not prepared for any more bad news just now. The theurge turned to Kamut as he spoke up, frowning deeply. When it came to matters of the garou, it was so easy to forget that the outside world played a factor in their procedings in matters like this. "I had not thought of that, with everything else going on. That's a good point, Kamut. Cops will probably be all over the house soon, I hope there's not much they have to go on. You would be an asset to us recovering things if they are, thank you. Klaus left his rifle in the bunker too, that's registered to him."
She found herself worriedly going over the scene in her mind, trying to 'see' if they had left anything there that would suggest anything other than a violent break in. Aside from the bunker door and plenty of blood that wasn't necessarily human she couldn't think of much, but that was enough. "I've not been in the city long enough to know how thorough the law enforcement is, but I hope for all our sakes they aren't that extensive."

As Maria listened to what the others had to say, she felt a deep stomach drop. "...M-m-my cane, oh no, it is unique enough for the police to know it belongs to the one who was in the scene when they murdered that scientist" she said, sounding paniced. But after few seconds, she calmed down and gave out a pained and tired sigh. " More the reason for me to stay here, and more the reason to retrieve it..." she said.

Saxon looked at Kamut as he volunteered to go a look of approval on his face. Then he thought for a moment, "You had best be thinking of a good story as to what has happened. The gun is registered so the Cops already have a name and the property itself was it linked to you in anyway? The forensic people will have all ready worked out a fair bit of what happened and that the blood is human. And the cops are going to want to have a chat sooner or later."
He paused, "The body is gone so you could go for a domestic, rough you up a bit, you go to the cops, say it was your husband you don’t want to press charges etc. A scenario they are sadly well used to so they will probably let it drop. Otherwise they will go looking for Klaus especially as Forensics will tell them the gun was fired."
