Kaleb swung the door open with some fierce might, and looked around the bar.
"Never fear, I am back, safe and sound." He applauded himself and the pair he was with and then took a seat at the bar counter.
"Beir, beir to celebrate!" Kaleb pounded his hands on the counter for a moment and then smiled at the two as they came into the bar.
"So, barbaque done, leeches gone...anything else on the agenda today, besides eating?" He looked over to Danny, his voice low, but still in a joking overtone.

Danny followed Kaleb inside, glad to have a place to sit down and maybe take off his shoes.
"Well, I think we can afford to revel in our victory for a short time," he said, glancing at the clock. "Then we should go back to the Caern and see how the others are holding up. I don't quite like the idea of leaving it in the hands of the kin and the cub, although they're capable."
He rested his feet and hoped Ilya would be back at the Caern. Then he wouldn't need to worry so much. "Although there is something I have to discuss with you before we go back," he looked at Vasara.

Vasara enters the Ragnarok, and nods a greetings to bouncer. He follows others to the counter and asks for coffee. He had a feeling this was going to be a long night. "Take what you want" he says to Kaleb and Danny
"That was a Victory and we need to celebrate it." Vasara pads Danny's and Kaleb's shoulders and grins. "Without celebration when we have reason for it, we could just as well fall to Harano."
He takes off his jacket and curses loudly. The local biker-shops had seen him as customer already too often. He buys new leatherjacket, Dedicates it with some other his clothes and soon it has a torn apart by blades or claws or bullets or worse. He had stayed in crinos just long enough to heal his wounds after the fight, trusting his fetish to hide his nature, but that didn't remove his blood from his clothes, or repair that swordslash. Better to get rid of bloodstained clothes before anyone starts wondering where he has been.
Vasara looks at Danny and says to him "I'm all ears, but with that tone in your voice I doubt you have any good news..." usually when Silent Striders needed to discuss with someone the news were bad, at least Vasara's own experiences had taught him that.
"...but wait for a minute, I need to do something first. Guy looking like me with blood on his clothes can raise some eyebrows..."
Vasara walks straight into backroom and soon comes back wearing a clean black t-shirt with Motörhead-skull in it. He takes his coffee and gives a short, hungry look at Kalebs beer, then quickly focusing on Danny.
"So, tell me what is in your mind?"
Sweet Gaia, he could use a drink right now...

Kaleb looked over at Danny, and then at Vasara, he was nosy and wanted to know. So he looked as if he were not too particularly interested in the conversation by playing with his beir, and then every now and then glancing at Vasara's direction, giving a cough or two.
"Beir, must have more! Victory is nothing without a few good rounds!" Kaleb beckoned a bar maiden and then gurgled down more of his beir.

Danny glanced at Kaleb. This concerned him too more or less, but they did deserve a break after the victory today.
"Don't worry," he said quickly, seeing the look on Vasara's face. Danny knew himself to be overdramatic at times. It came from being both a Silent Strider and a Galliard. "I think though, that it was time we discussed the future of the young cub. Soon, she will be ready to undergo her rites of passage, and it is time she got adopted by a tribe. Now we both know she is of a Dancer's blood, and that might complicate matters. That is why I have put this off as long as possible. I know this is hardly the place to discuss this, but I wanted to get you both alone with how busy things have been... well you understand."
He paused, now came the actual question.
"I know your tribe isn't the most tolerant, Vasara. But you have accepted a Ratkin, befriended a Gurahl, and helped protect and teach a Dancer's cub with your own blood. So I am going to be presumptious and ask you, do you think she would have a place in Fenris' tribe, and when she is ready, in your pack?"

"..."
Vasara stares at his coffee cup and keeps silent. He takes a deep breath and orders a vodka.
He keeps his silence as he thinks what Danny just said, waits until his shot arrives and drinks it down. "Leave the bottle." he says to bar maid with low voice, and takes another shot. Then he pours one for all of them. And drinks his own with one gulp.
"...we Fenris believe in Strength..." Vasara starts with low, almost growling voice full of menace "...my Tribe don't accept weaklings, were it weakness of body, mind... or Soul..." he pauses as he locks his eye with Danny's eye.
"Don't take MY tolerance for weakness, I'm still a Fenris, and we are the Tribe that stands ready on battlements when other Tribes are still trying to decide who leads them and how battles should be fought when the WAR is already Raging at their doorsteps..."
He gives a cold and chilling look at Danny, the look his friends have seen him give only to his foes before he begins to rip them apart.
"My tolerance to other Tribes... and other Changers comes from what I've witnessed during my life. Everyone has a place, and I've seen enough Garou and other Changers killed by my Tribe and my Elders just to straighten some stupid quarrels..."
"She is welcome to the Pack, and under my...no, OUR protection, but I will keep her under my watchful eye at all times. One real doubt on my part that she might be Tainted, and you will be one who sings her Gathering for Departed. That I swear by my own Blood." Vasara keeps staring in Danny's eye for few long minutes, to make sure Danny realizes for sure that he is not kidding.
"If she passes MY Tribes Rite of Passage, I CAN allow her to become one of Chosen of Fenris, for she has then shown her Strength, and Fenris Himself has accepted her." he still keeps his eye fixed on Danny's eye.
"Don't get me wrong, I didn't teach her and bleed for her just to kill her later, and I sincerely hope that she is Pure. But she must understand that Way of Fenris is not an easy one. If she passes the Rite of Passage, she can consider her as Daughter of Fenris, and one of my blood..."
Vasara doesn't break the eye-contact to Danny as he waits for his answer.

Kaleb listened to the two converse, and just went about drinking his beir. He really had no input on the cub, but thought that Vasara had a good point. If she were tainted she'd bring down the caern or at least try to! Not after all the strifes and missed meals was he going to settle for that! Good thing Vasara was around to keep watch of her, Kaleb had other important things to do...Like sleep, and eat and maybe find some furniture from time to time for his comfy dump in the city and around the caern.
"Well I think let us see, and while strength is good, girl needs to have wits about her too, like me. Who else would have thought of the fire?" Kaleb beamed proudly and sipped down more of his beir.

Danny nodded, not breaking eye contact either. He would have expected nothing less for a Fenris and a Philodox.
"Times like these remind me that you are a Half Moon as well as a warrior," he said finally. "I would expect nothing less, and from either of you."
He looked at Kaleb as he said this last part, and found him drinking away.
"Around a year ago, when we first found her, and I found out about her background, I was afraid of this. I was afraid that the madness of her ancestors' taint would begin to show as she grew into her role. I, like you, would rather kill her myself than see her fall to the Spiral. I am glad you agree."
He took himself a beer too and opened it, but didn't take a drink yet.
"But I have faith in her, and her future concerns me. Without a tribe, she would fall to the Wyrm far easier. She would draw strength from a strong family. May she prove herself worthy of Fenris."
He stopped, changing his tone and taking a drink. "But let's celebrate this victory now," he said. "We still have a few hours left before the night is over."

Vasara stares the vodka-bottle for a while, reading the label again and again, thinking on Danny's words. He knew he really shouldn't drink more, but poured himself one more shot, and then finally pushed the bottle closer to Danny and Kaleb, nodding to them to take some too.
Well, more importantly, he just had to get it away from his sight.
He raises his glass and says smiling "To Victory!" as he touches Kaleb's and Danny's beers with his glass and gulps his drink down. Then he takes his coffee-cup back in front of him, tastes it, grins and then laughs as he notices his coffee had become cold.
"Yes, let us be prepared for worst and hope for best!" he raises his cup again, as his bad mood was washed away by his laughter.
"HEY! Could you please bring for all of us something to eat!? We are starving here!" he calls cheerfully to bar maid "...and some warm coffee for me?" he continues as he forces down last drops from his old cup.
"Yes, we never even thought the idea of using fire against that leech, that was some good thinking, Kaleb!" he pads Kalebs shoulder firmly but friendly. He had no intention of telling him that he had his molotov's cocktails with him all the time, and his plan was too to use them to scorch the draug, althought Kaleb had beaten him in timing at the battle. But the Bonegnawer looked so proud and happy, so Vasara decided to let him have his Glory. He looked at Danny and out of old habid tried to wink at him, but it couldn't really be seen... after all, he had only one eye left...

(another night)
Aleksi leaves his luggages under the table and looks at barkeeper "I'd like to have a large pint of beer, thank you, and something to eat if that doesn't cause too much trouble to you?" Aleksi looks around and smiles 'homely place this is', he thinks.
He walks with barkeeper to the counter and out of boredom keeps talking to barkeeper "I'm Aleksi Vuori" he starts as he offers a handshake to barkeeper "So, it seems that Vasara is not around? Who does run this place while he is away?" he continues casually.
It was so like Tony to leave his own dirty work to others, it looked like he hadn't changed that much. That sissy didn't even go to army like every decent Finnish man should do, but instead jumped on his bike and left the country.
Aleksi sits on barstool and starts to drum the counter with his fingertips as he checks the clock on the wall. "Nice place you have here..." he continues as he gets his wallet and starts counting money for food and several beers he's going to have here while waiting, it would surely be a cold day in Hell before he accepts anything free from Vasara...

It did not really take Kaleb very long to get to the bar, after all this kid was street savvy and knew his way around in times of utmost importance. Plus he did take the umbral way, and things just seemed to work out much better that way. Making his way inside the bar, he headed for the backroom and side stepped into the real world.
Pulling on his clothing, Kaleb pushed the door open to the bar, looking for Vasara. As he did this, he over heard some guy asking for Vasara. He snickered at what he thought about Vasara's bar tending capabilities and headed over to him.
"What do ya need Vasara for?" Kaleb sat next to him, and looked at the bar maid. "Hey, ya seen him around lately...It's important."

Aleksi raised his eyes to face this kid who sat right next to him. He took a sip from his beer to clear his throat and answered suspicion in his voice "Family matters, kid, family matters... You know Tony?" Aleksi was starting to get depressed already, he hadn't even tried to call Vasara for some time.
Still leaning on the table with his left hand he offered his right hand as a greeting to this newcomer "Sorry about my manners, I'm Aleksi Vuori, and I've come a long way to meet that double-crossing son of a bitch you know by name Tony Vasara."
Aleksi had this strange impression in his mind that he had seen this boys face somewhere before, but couldn't place the face anywhere. He gave a tired smile of a betrayed man and gave his cellphone to Kaleb isnpecting his face with wondering look "You can try to call him if you want. But let's take care of important things first... Hey! Pour a drink to my new buddy here, please!!" he shouted to barkeeper and then looked Kaleb again "Do you like Stolichnaya? Well that it is! Stolichnaya vodka please, no ices!"
Aleksi took his book out of his pocket and some money to pay the drink and continued to read, but he kept the book low and from time to time looked at Kaleb if he had something to say, or dear God, if he manages to get in contact with Vasara!

Kid? Granted Kaleb was not as old as this guy, but kid? Kaleb let the comment roll off his shoulders for now and listened to the guy, a bit antsy to find Vasara. If he knew where he was, he was the man to talk to and quick too. Looking at the hand, Kaleb grabbed it and shook it rather quickly while the guy told his life story.
"Double-crossing? I don't know anything about that. So ya gonna bust up his chops or something?" Kaleb looked at him and smiled as a drink was placed in front of him. Surely there was something Kaleb was supposed to be doing, but he couldn't be bothered with that right now. The man had bought him a drink! Looking at the drinks placed in front of him and Aleksi, Kaleb grabbed at his own and held it up, toasting him.
"Thanks." Kaleb said and took the drink, downing it quickly. Kaleb was used to beer, but this stuff...we'll it'd burn the chest hairs off anyone. Coughing Kaleb placed the glass on the counter and slapped the bar. "So you don't know where he is? Well, that's not really going to help me." Kaleb frowned, why was he looking for Vasara again? Food? Nope...Job, nah he had one of those here anyways, what was it? Oh, the caern!
"Look, can you try to call him again, 'cause it's real important here. Family matters, you should get that." Hey! Didn't he say family matters too, earlier? Kaleb shook his head thinking on it, he was sure he did. "Hey, you two family? He never made no mention about family before." Kaleb squinted his eyes, looking Aleksi over.

Aleksi drank his vodka down without any changes in his facial impressions, and he smiled as he looked this young kid bravely drinking the vodka with one big gulp. It had always told to him that the drinker had some good characteristics inside, instead of being one of those tamed city-folk of whom Aleksi had heard before who couldn't hold their liquor. Those empty-headed, soft people who actually thought that individual gains and pleasures were more important that those of whole community, they rarely could keep down real vodka without ice in one gulp. After a short moment Aleksi noticed that he almost stared at this kid while thinking, and he looked down on his book again.
"Bust his what?" Aleksi look turned a little stunned for a while as he tried to understand these slang-terms, but after short consideration he was quite sure the kid was talking about some sort of violent behavior. "Nah, I don't believe in violence without good cause, I just want to meet him, after all, he's supposed to be my... well, brother if you ask him, and a distant friend if you ask me." Tone in Aleksi's voice told that the last statement of him considering Vasara as a friend, at least a good one, was not entirely true. "And I'm not so sure could I take him down, he's smaller than me but can really get quite difficult to fight against if he gets his mood right."
"Yeah, I guess I should try calling him again..." Aleksi took the cell phone in his hand from the table and dialed the number from memory. Before starting his call, he looked again at this kid "I don't think I caught your name? It would be good if he knew who wanted to meet him, besides of me of course." he asked before making the actual call, his big thumb hovering over green button.

Kaleb listened to Aleksi, Family hey? Well he never knew Vasara had family, infact now that he thought about it, he didn't really know much about Vasara. Or a few others in the pack, maybe later they could tell their stories to him.
"Oh, sorry. Name is Kaleb. Thanks for the drink too buddy." Kaleb wipped his hands on his pants from the excess residue from the vodka that spilled on them. "Look, if we can't find him, I gotta go. We, I got some things to take care of back at the home and stuff. I don't mean to sound rude, but I need to find him. There's something some of us need help with." Kaleb scanned the bar quick over and then returned back to him offering his hand again. "Family you say? Well why didn't you say something from the beginning? Since he's my family, that makes you my family." Kaleb's voice got a bit wavery and louder in tone as he offered his hand again. "Hey, what about that phone call?" Kaleb slanted his eyes and looked him over again.
