Max had little trouble finding a parking a spot near the park, and soon enough, he and Yvonne were heading towards the designated meeting place.
"Looks quite nice during the day," he said, trying to locate the place they had found Torsten the night before. He made a mental note to check out the crime scene and see if it had all been covered up.
"So do you know what this Karin looks like?" he asked, looking around the park.

"Ummm..." Yvonne says, putting off an answer as she wracks her mind for something other than 'no'. "Danny didn't say." She looks around at all the other people in the park which, unsuprisingly for mid-day on the weekend, is rather packed. "There's a lot of people around. What are we going to do, Max?"

"Don't worry," he said. "We'll meet them by the statue like they said. I'm pretty sure they'll find us."
He checked his watch. "At least we're not late," he said, looking around for anything resembling a ratkin. "A philodox would have been useful at this point."

Yvonne looks at Max, smiling faintly as a more pleasant alternative to looking blank. She takes his word for it, though surely can't remember any mention of statues. "I'm sure everything will be fine." Then she waits.

They didn't have to wait very long.
Although neither of them had ever met Karin before, they could be quite sure that the girl who approached them was her. For starters, there was something very odd about her. Maybe it was the fact that she was wearing reading glasses without any lenses. Or the fact that she was wearing a labcoat over her otherwise shabby and tattered clothes. Or even that she was currently wearing a nametag with the name "Karin Steinwender" and "medical technician" written on it.
But the biggest giveaway, that not even Yvonne could have missed, was the fact that she stopped just a few feet them and said: "What's up, puppies!"

Missing the nametag by a mile, Yvonne only giggles nervously at Karin's greeting. Not being familiar with Ratkin in any sense the use of words comes across as some sort of bizarre slang to Yvonne. "Um, hello? What are you talking about?" Yvonne's paranoia is at least running in the background a little, but she manage not to sniff as she gauges Karin's nature.

Max had also managed to miss the nametag. But unlike Yvonne he had had the pleasure of meeting a few ratkin before, and he knew how they felt about "puppies". He was still careful though, as he stepped up beside Yvonne and looked at the girl in the labcoat.
"Karin?" he said tentatively.

There was nothing tainted about Karin. She did, however, smell of an odd combination of antiseptic and grapefruit.
"Oh dear," she said, frowning a little but still sounding extremely amused. "Almost half the puppies in that dump of a Library have met me, but he had to not only go and send the two who didn't, but also the two most oblivious pups in the city. Whatever happened to the pretty one? Doesn't he like me anymore?"
She looked at Max and tapped the nametag. "What do you think?" she said. "Now who are you?"

"Pretty one?" Yvonne says, missing the sarcasm and instead wondering which of the collection of scarred brutes Karin considers 'pretty'. Yvonne is already getting funny ideas about the sort of woman Karin is. That really wasn't the most important thing at hand though, something even Yvonne realised. "Hello Karin, I'm Yvonne and this is Max." She continues, ignoring Karin's rudeness and putting on a friendly face. "Shall we find somewhere to sit and chat?"

"Uh... yeah," Karin said, realising that a lot of what she said was going to be lost on Yvonne. "So I'm going to take a wild guess and assume you weren't sent here because of your sharp wit or general experience. I suppose the doggies don't think it's important enough to send someone who can at least tie their own shoelaces?"
She crossed her arms and looked a little annoyed. "Fine, let's go sit... over there." She pointed to a place a little way off. Obviously she didn't want to go very far.

Though Yvonne does her best to maintain a friendly face it was getting increasingly difficult. Karin seemed intent on annoying them, but then she seemed quite annoyed herself for some reason so Yvonne decides it would be best not to make it any worse. Keeping any response to herself, Yvonne goes with Karin to sit wherever was indicated on whatever is there to be sat on. The silence was going to get uncomfortable if she didn't break it, and Karin breaking it would almost certainly start things on a bad footing. "So... well, we understand some of us have caused you all a lot of trouble."

The place Karin had pointed to was just a spot on the grass where no other people were sitting. It wasn't really the ideal place to negotiate with terrorists, but Max decided not the argue.
"We think this is very important," he assured her. "Reaching an understanding with your people is our top priority right now."
After finding our lost friends, and protecting our Caern, and just about everything else.
He smiled at Karin. Like Yvonne, he was intent on not annoying her, even though she seemed to be quite set on annoying them.

"Right," Karin sat herself down on the grass and waited for them to join her. "You caused a lot of trouble down in the sewers. Our boys were just fulfilling their side of a contract. It wasn't part of the contract that you bring the Wyrm-doggies into our territory too. It was quite stupid, but I suppose that lack of consideration has to be expected from a Silent Strider."
She glared at them, as if it was their fault after all. "I hope you realised your actions have caused the death of one, the torture and mutilation of a second, and the disappearing of a third."
Karin paused, allowing the guilt to sink in. I doubt either of them would have noticed how much she was really enjoying this. She took a second to observe their actions, and reactions.
(Sense angst on the two of them)

"Well, yes, it was a careless mistake." Yvonne does her best to not agree in pointing fingers, though it was not far from her mind. She looks shocked and slowly horrified at the news of the harm that has been caused as a consequence of the actions. "That's... terrible. Oh god, I'm so sorry, we..." She glanced at Max, momentarily wishing Kasiya was here to face the news himself. Then she decided it would actually only make matters worse when he acted like he'd done nothing wrong again.
"We're all sorry, it's... it's not something I think we can ever make up for." The Spirals they'd killed was slowly being overwhelmed by the number of dead that were being racked up. It showed, but a hint of Rage was rearing up along with her regret and she barely supressed it's rise. "But if we can do anything to try. We will."
((persuasion, of course))

Max, who hadn't heard what had happened in the sewers, was more than a little clueless. He didn't want to jump to any conclusions, although Yvonne's reaction did seem to rule out the possibility that Karin was just exaggerating. Something unpleasant had obviously happened.
He looked at Karin, unaware that she was reading him right now. But she was. "We're sorry about what happened," he said. "But we're going to make sure that these mistakes don't happen again. That's why we're here."
