Maria looked slightly sideways at Yvonne. " When you are a metis, especially among Silver Fangs, you are glad if you live. I was treated well, I wasn't beat much and I was given a purpose. My master saved my life when everyone else wanted me dead, my master defended me when young ahrouns wanted to tore my throat for existing, my master gave me a human name. He beat me, and gave me scars. But he also gave me a good life" Maria said in a rather neutral tone. Then she took a apologetic expression. "I am not trying to mock you, Yvonne, you and I come from very different walks of life, I am only trying to explain why I respect him" she said to her packmate.
" That is a very interesting thing to train, but I guess it makes sense, given our three way nature" Maria said and smiled.

"You should never have to call anyone 'master', no matter what they do for you. That's not respect." Yvonne shakes her head, amazed at her placid acceptance, but drops the subject. "Interesting? I suppose. I just wanted to do something that would allow me to help others, it's not enough to just fight the Wyrm as a warrior. We have to care for the innocent as well." She looks down at the book, sadly. "A lot of animals get mistreated in the hands of humans."

Again, the chage of subject is a good thing to Maria. " That is noble, Yvonne. You truly have taken our cause to the heart" Maria says, her voice full of genuine admiration towards the ahroun. At Yvonne's sadness, Maria joins the chorus. "A lot of garou do that too. Dogs...especially cats, are seen as inferior. I know they are dumb, human reliant, but they are still as much animals as wild animals are. To shun their rights as living beings and ignore them is only helping the wyrm to grow" Maria said, sadness in her voice. When she had been a cub, just after her change, she had seen how utterly repulsed the Fangs had been at one noble's dogs. That had confused Maria, as the dogs had been nice and friendly. Then again, to a metis cub without much friends to play with, the dogs had brought some sort of comfort to her. " It's good that we are children of Lion now, with him supporting our efforts to protect the weak, we can do a lot of good" Maria said to Yvonne and smiled widely.

"Your master talked a lot of bollocks from the sound of it." Claire commented as she entered the room. She had not meant to overhear, but rather she had paused at the entrance to check herself. Always did well to look neat when you first meet people, scruffy just looked wrong.
She came in and sat down smiling at the pair of them, at least she was not immediately facing the unknown two. She leaned forward looking curiously at Yvonne's books. "Never did well at school myself, probably not the teachers fault, hard to teach me when I was a couple of miles away from the classroom hanging around with the boys at the shopping centre."

As Maria heard Claire's comment, she thre her hands up in the air. " I give up! Nobody seems to understand me" she said, but Claire could definetly hear a bit of sarcasm there too. Then the metis took her sunglasses and put them on, standing up. "How do I look?" she asked. While the dress was good, and the dye not bad either, the sliced back hair, sunglasses and the gray jacket worn on top of the dress made Maria look like a mitchmatch between a rebel and a princess.

Claire laughed, "Hey don’t forget you are talking to Furies, it is drilled into us, don’t take no shit from no man, not ever." She nodded though, "But each of us get to where we are by a different path." She stood and went over to Maria eyeing her up and down, "Hmm, maybe too good, you want dowdy, not appealing so that the border guards especially if they are men do not bother looking too closely." She winked at Maria, "Maybe if we did Yvonne up she would cut such a swathe that all the men would be gaping at her with their tongues out and not take any notice of us two old crones."

"So if he was a she it would be far more acceptaple?" Maria asked, but felt she went a bit too far with that one.
At the comment about dressing Yvonne up, Maria gave out a chuckle. " All right, as long as I don't look like a noble servant, It's fine" she laughed and sat down. She rubbed her leg a bit. " Hmm, Lion is a bit traditional, so do you want to introduce yourself, or shall I do it?" she asked the ragabash.

Claire looked at Maria intently, "No abuse of others is not acceptable whatever the gender of the abuser. That is not what we are about, we are the protectors, that is what Gaia intended and that is what we are, end of."
Then Claire smiled, "Damm your making me go all serious, that will never do, ruin my image." She sat back, "Best follow tradition, I don’t have to roll my trouser leg up like the mason do or use a funny handshake?"

Maria nodded and looked a bit guilty. "I know, that was a low joke and I apologize" she said, looking at Yvonne with a bit sorry expression.
" I don't think we need to go as far as some Fangs do, with everyone standing in crinos and the inroduced being painted with glyphs of ALL their deeds. Just give me some deeds you would like to get known and I think that's enough" Maria said. Then she began grinning very widely. " If this was a official Fang gathering, I would be kicked out with this outfit" she said.

"Deeds." Claire said softly, "There are two things that stand out, one the reason for my deed name, the other the reason I came to Germany." She smiled, "I feel you should be telling this, you’re the Gillard, ok."
She took a deep breath, "My deed name should be Strength for Many but it got corrupted to Strength of Many. How I earned it, well, we where raiding a Spiral Hive, the battle was a running one, Garou and Spirals all over the place. We had linked up with another pack to give us the numbers so that is how I found myself in a group of three. Me, a Fury Ragabash named Mar and a Strider Gillard. We bumped into the Spiral Alpha and he was one mean mother."
"We attacked, three onto one and he tore into us, it was one hell of a fight. Mar went down first, smashed unconscious and then the Strider, he went down dead or unconscious. I was pretty battered as was the Spiral, he grinned at me, I can still see his face. Run away little woman, you can hardly stand and then I will feast on these two. I just stood and then I said, I have enough strength for the three of us. Gaia knows why I said it, normally I would have just told him to f off. But I was going to die so I wanted my last words to be more than a swear word."
Claire smiled, "Pretty full of myself, that I was. So the spiral attacked and we got into it, I was losing and then two more Striders slammed into the Alpha and he went down instead. They had heard what I had said and they told everyone at the Moot afterwards, only they got it wrong and I was too bloody knackered to correct them."
Claire looked thoughtful, " As for the reason I left England and moved to Germany. That was to avoid being arrested for murder had I stayed. My husband was an abuser, his fists where always ready to give me a beating. I was stupid and accepted it, it was commonplace on the estate so in a way I thought nothing of it. But then one day he turned his fists on our son. That is when I had my change, I ripped him to pieces rather than allow him to harm my son."
"That is the day I truly understood what it was to be a mother, that I would do anything to protect my child, anything. That was the start of my life as a Garou and the day when I accepted that I would not stand by and watch abuse again."
Claire stopped, "I don’t know if they count as glorious deeds or not, but they are the two things that stand out in my life to me. Protecting my child and being prepared to die to protect my fallen comrades."

Maria listened to Claire's tale intently, sometimes writing important parts down, but mostly just looking at the ragabash with genuine interest. As Claire finished, Maria wanted to sink low. Again she had spoke without thinking first, and it seemed that the more she spoke and did, the worse things got to her.
" Those are...great tales, worth of Lion to listen to no doubt. Especially your reason to leave. Your first deed spoke of pride and glory worthy of a ahroun, and Lion respects bravery. And your humbleness afterwards speaks of your ability to not dwell too much in pride for it to be harmfull" Maria said, looking at Claire. "The second tale speaks for your willingness to protect the weak, the ones who cannot protect themselves. Lion demends such deeds from all his followers"she finished.

Claire inclined her head and smiled, "Thank you for saying that, it means a lot." Then she grinned, "And now as I said to Bobbie Howard behind the bike shed at school. I have shown you mine, now you show me yours, so to satisfy my Ragabash curiosity what are your deeds?"
She leaned forward her face alight with interest.

Maria backs down a bit, but then relaxes. " As you might expect, my deed-name...or, actually it is my last name. We Fangs often have our deednames also stand as our last names, you see. Anyway, it comes from my deformity. The deeds I've done are not numerous, actually I had to do something for Lion to make up for it. The greatest thing I did during my Rite of Passage was finding my ancestor, Percy Swiftclaw. He fought during the french revolution against the Fallen Tribe " Maria began speaking, her voice again in the story-teller mode.
" And thanks to his deeds, the people of Paris gave him the usual treatment. His head sliced by the guilotine" Maria finished her first tale.
" The deed I did for Lion was to free animals from a laboratory. I managed to gain trust of bunch of students there and together we tried to free the animals. But we were crude, incompetent, while the animals were freed, it was at the cost of a innocent human life. A scientist. And on top of everything, the students left me after they got into the get away car." Maria said, her voice suddenly filled with sadness.
"And, that's about it, the latest deed you've heard all ready" Maria finished.

"You found your long dead ancestor?" Claire was intrigued by that, "You mean you dug him it? Bit creepy like but fair enough if that was what you had to do." She was shocked and it showed by the second part of Maria's tale.
"You mean the scumbags just ran out on you? Bah, you know what you should do, find them and stick a potato up their exhaust, ram it in so that no gases can escape, then phone the cops. When they try and get away the engine will blow itself to bits leaving them neatly waiting for the cops. Nothing worse than running out on a friend."

" Yes, I dug him out from the umbra. I had to find a lost tale, and his tale was lost. I don't think it was creepy, if you want to find creepy in my tribe, the ivory priesthood is more than enough to do that" Maria said in a rather matter-of fact tone.
" No, if they truly were my friends, maybe then I would have done that. But, as my grand-father would say ' if you use someone, expect them to use you'. I wasn't playing honest with them and they did the same to me" Maria explained.
