Hands of Mercy suppresses a snarl, and conceals his frustration as best he can as he responds, forcing an air of calm. The Fostern could order him to aid in the Summoning, but he was not going to back down to some harsh words.
"You have professed no skill in fletching, and have spoken of this human not as someone who has experience making arrows or any particular knowledge of our ways. They have two Theurges amongst their number, and seem quite confident of their ability to perform the task. So unless your order is for me to attend them now, I do not see my decision as contrary to your criteria."

Hands of Mercy's face betrayed no sign of his anger, but his words held a lack of respect that was difficult to ignore, especially coming from a metis. Ben's eyes narrowed into a glare. Even Hands of Mercy, rebellious and hotheaded as he was, could not ignore the difference in rank and breeding. He had a hard time looking Commands-the-Tides in the eye.
"I'm not surprised no pack has accepted you," he said. "I don't have to be a carpenter to know what pleases the spirits. And you don't have to be a Theurge to contribute to a rite. There are Garou here less experienced and less able than you who have no fear of putting themselves out there and aiding the Caern and the city in every way they can. You will find one of these Garou, and you will attend them. You will follow their orders to the letter, regardless of what they ask of you. Do not let me find you skulking around the Caern on your own. Consider that an order."
Done with Hands of Mercy, he turned to the other offender and raised a hand in a gesture that Zachary had come to interpret as remain quiet for now.
Then he turned to Simeon. He didn't need to ask him to confirm Zachary's story. Zachary didn't lie, especially not to his elders. "You have much patience to work with Zachary, and I appreciate that. Despite his shortcomings, I believe he will be a good man to have watching your back when you are in danger. Please, let me deal with this. I assure you, there will be consequences, and Walks-with-Death-rhya will hear of this as well." This, on the other hand, was no order. Ben sounded like he was asking the Strider a favour.

Hands of Mercy does not attempt to hold Commands the Tides' gaze when he narrows his eyes, instead lowering his head to the Fostern. He had not survived as long as he had without knowing how to show deference to an irate Garou. "I apologise for the offence, rhya. I did not mean to imply that you could not perform the task you have set yourself to. I shall do as you instruct."
He turns to leave, holding the Rage of wounded pride in check with practiced will. Some of what the Fostern had said was fair and true. He had shown disrespect and misspoken. He would follow the orders, but he was still Fenrir, and no Fenrir was allowed to forget the lesson learned in blood by the guards of legend tricked into leaving their posts in search of Glory over Honour. Patrolling the Bawn and 'skulking around the Caern' were very different activities. Especially when the Spirals had been shown to be willing and able to strike into West Berlin so recently.

Simeon had wisely stayed quiet through all of this. As one who had run alone for some time now, he was no stranger to such behavior. Packs were important, even to a strider. But he had never found a place he felt 'at home' in. even here wasn't home, home was a place he and his could never return to, but it was the closest he had ever found.
Commands the Tides subtle body language wasn't lost on him either, but then he had already been thinking a similar thought, perhaps. Rather than add words to a situation that already hung heavily in the air, he merely nodded and stepped a pace back, before turning to catch up with Hands of Mercy, leaving Zachary alone with Ben. Once he was caught up with the metis, he casually commented, without looking directly at him. "I am going out on a bit of a scouting mission later this eve, the company would be nice." He finished by tilting his head sideways to glance down at Hands as he waited for a reply.

Zachary knew Ben's signals well enough, and did not disobey the order he was given. The young ahroun watched as Hands and, eventually,Simeon left.
There wasn't really anything Zachary could add to defend himself, he had done something that Simeon had given him a piece of his mind about. That alone had made Zachary know how much he had done wrong. The chill was beginning to take it's toll on his bare body and Zachary looked at Ben, not in the eyes but in the general direction where the theurge was, and his expression tried to look pleading to let him shift to lupus.

Hands of Mercy slows a little to let Simeon catch up. The Strider's apparent desire to form a pack was still in his mind, as both an attractive possibility and now perhaps the only way he was going to get Commands the Tides off his back. At Simeon's choice of words, Hands of Mercy smiles slightly. With the orders he's just been given, he can't refuse, but Simeon's refrain from phrasing it as an order says something about the Strider's attitude.
"Providing you don't expect me to blend into a crowd." He replies dryly. "What's the target?"

As Hands of Mercy wandered off to once again singlehandedly prevent the Caern from being overrun by the Wyrm, Commands-the-Tides turned his attention to Zachary.
"Let's go get your clothes," he said. "Then we can talk about what happened, and how we can fix it."
At least Zachary was aware of what he had done. He didn't need a lecture, but something had to be done.
(Let's leave this thread for Simeon and Hands of Mercy and continue in the Library)

"No blending. A straight up scouting job after dark. There is a warehouse I have a need to look at. It may be nothing but a tail chase, but I gave my word to look around." Running a hand through his hair he gave a slight sigh, chasing two targets at once was never a favored thing, because you never seemed to get either that way the the prey skittered off. But, this time the choice wasn't his to make, he had both the building and the warehouse to look to. Hopefully the luncheon with Justina would prove useful for the first.
"A kin woman of mine...Gypsy kin, her brother has gone missing. I told her I would help. I am hoping what ever brought her to find me will tie in with that building where the spirit is bound. If not, it seems I will find myself chasing two deer at once. I would like back up just in case. I have already fought with you and I think we work well together. There is one requirement, you can lie right?" The last was said half in joking and half in earnest, after all if something went wrong and they were caught, lying was always a very nice option to pick.
"Oh!" he added "It won't be til later, after dark as I said. I need to finish up some business dealing with that office building this afternoon." He left out a large part of the details there, after all some things 'just' should reamain...personal.

"Yes, I can lie." It was an odd request, but presumably had something to do with Born from a Dark Wish's apparent failure earlier. "I shall meet you by the Caern later, then. For now I guess I'll go see if they need any help with this Rite." He almost adds some unwise remark about Commands the Tides' infuriatingly twisting argument, but stops himself before he opens his mouth, and instead continues off towards the Caern in the direction the others had travelled.

Simeon nodded in satisfaction and headed back into he real word. He had enough time for some preparation for the 'date'. And he intended to make full use of it. he had long term plans for Justina...if things worked out. His step was slightly lighter as he hummed a jaunty tune to himself.
((Will see if Pyro wants us to start a thread for the night time scouting))

If you're done here, feel free to return to the warehouse. If you want to stay and witness the rite, you'll have to wait. No more posting in two places at once, it rips the fabric of space-time continuum.

That Night
It was nearing midnight when three wolves reached the edge of the bawn. Cloud-Dancer stopped and howled an introduction to both the Warder and the guardian spirits, telling that she had returned and brought with her two new allies: Silverforge, Cliath Ahroun of the Silver Fangs, and Slit-Throat Packmangler-rhya, Athro Ahroun of the Fenrir.
Then they continued towards the library. Oddly, Cloud-Dancer kept her eyes on the skies rather than ahead.

Konstantin could not help but to look up too occationally. "Danger above?" he asked Cloud-Dancer in Wolflanguage and wondered what kind of creatures could sweep down on him. His instincts told him to shift his shape to hispo. He kept his position as the last wolf in their trailrun. Even if Cloud-Dancer seemed to be laid-back, it would still be insane to step out of the line in front of Slit-Throat.
"End of trail?" he asked, still using Wolftongue that came easiest to him in wolf and dire-wolf form.

Slit-Throat recognised this place. Years had passed but some things still were so clearly in his mind. He shifted into crinos and stopped, as if counting something in his head. He too wondered what Cloud-Dancer was looking for, but didn't ask anything. She kept her lupus so it could not be that dangerous. Maybe just some spirit guardian, or even better, some faggot following Owl and playing with his wings, waiting to do a dramatic entrance to impress the Cubs. Slit-Throat groaned. "Please let it be a Spirit..."
"Shut up. Did I give you permission to speak?" he snapped at Konstantin.
