Maria made her way towards the city as the sun slowly began to set. As she neared the denser part of Berlin, she could see the pattern spiders weave their way across the Umbral landscape. There is really no way for her to find what she's looking for from here, and she will probably have to step sideways if she stands even the smallest chance of recognising a laboratory building in this large city.

Maria looked around, trying to figure out what specie each of the pattern spiders were. She had spent hours upon hours reading an ancient book of animals when she was a cub and could with some thinking recondnise a lot of spider species.
But that wasn't really the only thought on her mind right now, she needed to find, release and rehome uncertain number of laboratory animals. Maria was all ready mentally writing rehoming notes for the town magazine.
But first she must find this laboratory that the Lion had spoken about. Maria shifted to her homid form, and with uneasy hands, fell into the physical world with a very real physical pain.

(We'll stay in this thread for now)
Maria stepped sideways into a deserted alley and limped out into Berlin. It was her first real visit to the inner city, and it was all a little overwhelming. It was early evening, and traffic was at a high point. Impatient people rushed past her, not even sparing a glance at her. A middle aged man bumped into her as he ran past to catch the bus and didn't even stop to apologise. Maria tried to stay on her feel, but inadvertently put too much pressure on her bad leg, and tipped over.
"Jerk! At least apologise to the lady," a young man called after him, but he had already hopped into the bus and disappeared. "Are you all right?" the young man asked, offering Maria a hand up.

Maria looked up at the man and took his hand. " I am, my bad leg is just acting up" she said, smiling with a pained smile. As she stood up, she tried to hide her yelp of pain as the pressure on her bad leg returned. Maria's grib of the arm became stronger. " You shouldn't really blame the man, he was in a hurry" Maria said to the young man. Then she took a careful look on his face.

"That jerk? He should learn to look where he's walking," said the young man. He suddenly seemed to notice Maria's bad leg, and looked concerned. "Where are you headed. Can I help you get to the bus?"
He seemed genuinely concerned, and Maria could not guess if he had an ulterior motive to helping her. If he did, he was a very good actor for hiding it.

Maria wasn't too sure how to deal with the man. She couldn't let him see her leg, no matter what. And to keep her motives a secret. And to make sure if he was the enemy. " I am headed for a laboratory, I have few papers to deliver them" she said, waving her notebook quickly. " But unfortunately I came from outside the town to deliver them, so I am at lost where to go" she said, hoping her blatant lie would fly with the guy.

"Oh are you a scientist?" the man asked conversationally. He didn't seem to doubt her story, although he did look a little confused. He offered her an arm to lean on, if she wanted, probably thinking she twisted her ankle in the fall.
"Oh, are you lost then? Do you know the name of the lab, you can look it up in a phone book."

Maria decided to trust the man for now, she could feel her leg crying out of agony still, and he was all help she could get. " Oh no, I am only a student" she said, leaning on the man with her full weight.
" No, they weren't too informative. But I could look at the phone book none the less" Maria said. Even if she appeared to be completely trusting of the man, she did keep an eye on his, just in case. " Hmm, do you know if there is a place around here where one can give some injured animals a rest? I have two rabbits at home who were hit by a car" she continued.

"Oh, you're a student," the man smiled, and looked somewhat less confused. "Well if you're looking for University labs, you probably want to head up to Charite. You can take bus 8 from that bus station over there." He pointed in the direction of the bus station where the impatient man had caught his bus. The young man scratched the stubble on his face as he thought about her question. "Sorry to hear that," he said. "I don't know if there's any pet cemeteries in the cities though, but then the phone book could help you there too."

Maria gave the man a smile. "all right, where can I buy this phone book, good sir?" Maria asked the man. So far so good, she thought to herself. It was smart first to look at the potential laboratories, and Maria had an idea that maybe the students would be so cruel as to torture the animals. " But, aside from that good sir, thank you for your help, I appericate it" Maria said and began limping towards the bus stop.

"Have a nice day," he called after her, before heading off on his way.
Maria didn't have to wait long for the right bus to come. it was easy to take a bus, even for someone who wasn't used to human means of transportation, and the bus stop, named "Unversity" was self-evident. So Maria managed to get off at the right place, and head head towards the University. It was easy to find things here, because of the signs pointing people towards all the different faculties, and she knew enough about human practices to be able to tell that the most likely place for human experiments was probably the Department of Biology, Chemistry and Pharmacy.
