12/03/1989 - Early Morning
It had been a hectic week, even by Berlin's standards. Spirals had attacked twice, the newcomers were settling in, and kin were being relocated. In the middle of it all, Kasiya's self-assigned mission to arm the Sept had not gone neglected.
It was early morning at the Caern. So early that the ones who were not on duty were still asleep, and only Martin and Danny were up, standing outside and talking to a large man with a foreign accent as they waited for Kasiya.
"Thank you for doing this, Aleksi," Danny said to the man. "This Sept owes you so much already. We appreciate all you have done for us."
OOC: Because I'm nice, Kasiya and Martin can start with fully gnosis/will/rage. Aleksi is of course on full willpower.

Aleksi was feeling a little awkward for Danny's words. He toyed with the car keys in his hand and watched the kid and the boss. Babysitting now... he thought and shrugged his shoulders. "Been a pleasure to help." he said without really knowing what to say.
He looked at Library. There had been lot's to do, but finally he had managed to repair the damages and reinforce the most obvious routes for getting inside. He had a small bag on his left hand, holding some of his tools and his loaded shotgun beneath the tools. He hadn't fully recovered mentally from the attack yet and wondered would the next time he needed to point his stubby at someones head and pull the trigger be more easy. He had, just in case, opened both shells and added a silver coin on the business end of the shells before carefully closing them again. That would give a nasty sting on any enemy-werewolf who tried to threaten him. The images of Septs garou's in crinos, fighting to defend the Library made him shudder. After all this time, his 'cousins' still scared the shit out of him.
"It's been busy and lot's of new faces are running around, but I think I have done everything I can without adding spring- or wire-traps on the exits now." Aleksi said, a bit absent-mindedly. Using guns and explosives always attracted attention, so he was thinking more traditional approaches to fortify the caern "Good to get out for a while, later I could make few camouflaged wolfpits..." Aleksi's eyes wandered on the yard of the Library, making sure his half-brother wasn't around hearing him using his choice of words "...if you want. At least they would slow down next attack. If I buy and melt some old silverware, I might even make ones that will cripple anyone stepping on them. It would take just about one afternoon to make the traps, and if I pull a all-nighter, the windows would be trapped too by the morning." Aleksi didn't notice his pessimistic voice. He understood now more than ever that they lived in a warzone, and his memories of his time in army was flooding his mind. Enemy was real and even the allies left him scared. He felt like he had been stuck between rock and a hard place.
"You know, I miss Kaleb. This place has become way more dark and serious after he... perished."
Vasara had been drinking too, and that worried Aleksi even more. He just hoped his half-brother could keep his mind straight.

It might be early, but Kasiya had already hunted. The taste of blood still lingers in under his tongue, savoury and satisfying. Rabbits didn't put up too much of a fight to a skilled hunter.
Approching at an easy lope, Kasiya emerges from the dimness of the early morning. Eerily, well, eerie. But silent as always, thick fur standing on end to trap the fleeting warmth of his body before it is leeched away from him by the coolness of the morning.
"Hope you've fed, Cub. We have a long run ahead."
To Danny, his posture and stance are as much a message as the words he gives the others:
I'm ready. It it time to go. I wait or any words you have for us
Realising Alexi couldn't understand Wolf, he concentrates and shifts to Homid, shivering for a moment as he adjusts to a lack of fur. Arriving after Alexi's ponderings on the fortification of the library, he only catches the last sentence. Regret for the dead is something Kasiya can sympathise with
"Death is part of life, and not even he end. It is a good thing you are doing."
He has the utmost respect for Kin who take an active role in the life of Garou. It's not for the faintherted, and it scares Garou aswell from time to time.
To Danny:
"We're ready."
They were wolves after all.

"I have." Kasiya hadn't really asked a question, but Martin was getting used to the weird habits of speech after a few months amongst humans. For the sake of talking to everyone he was in the form of a boy, and had said his goodbyes to the members of the Sept he had gotten to know.

Danny nodded sadly. "He was a good man," he said. "Things have been grim since he passed. I miss him too. I miss them all."
Things really had taken a turn for the worse lately. The increased security made the library look cold and unwelcoming. But it offered much needed protection. He could hardly believe that there had been a time when this had been a proper library. Lately more than ever he saw the importance of their kin, and how lost they would be without them. The fact that they were willing to put their lives on the line for their Garou brothers humbled him greatly.
"Keep that shotgun handy," he said. "The roads into West Germany should be safe, and nobody knows of your plans. I do not expect trouble, but we should plan for the worst."
He looked at Martin. "This is goodbye then," he said. "I hope you will remember us. Remember that there are men who still fight for Gaia. And that to be Garou, we must be the best of both wolves and men."
It was a bit of a desperate plea, and Danny knew that there was not much hope for it. But there was no doubt in his mind that Martin needed to go home.
Finally, he looked at Kasiya. "I will see you soon," he said.

A shiver ran across Aleksi's back as he watched the black wolf turn into man. He was both scared and jealous at the same time, and if this wolf was what he thought he was, a true wolfborn, he thought he might be in trouble. Hopefully he wasn't a maneater from the folkstories he had read from the old books or anything else. Kasiya creeped him out more than others for some reason and Aleksi decided to keep him under close supervision. The whole idea of being stuck with wolfborns didn't sound now as good as it did earlier.
"Erm... yeah. You can't be too careful these days, can you? Will you look after that one-eyed idiot, I still have things to settle with him and I don't want to hear he crashed into a silverware-store with his Harley when driving drunk while I was gone?" he said to Danny with a faint smile to get his eyes away from the shifting shape of Kasiya. "In every war there are casualties, I know that. He just was the kindest of you." Aleksi continued to everyone around without thinking that his words could be considered insulting. He then smiled at Martin and put his huge hand into his shoulder assuringly. "Hey, ready for a ride? Ever been on a roadtrip before?"
Aleksi sat down on the drivers seat and opened all windows. He wasn't sure, but he thought that if open windows calms dogs down in car, it might also make sure that neither of the wolfborns would freak out inside the vehicle. He surely would regret putting down the boy. He was not so sure he would regret so much if it was the black wolf who freaked out. Creepy thing. He put his toolbag next to him, opening it a bit. The drivers seat needed to be adjusted next, and his face started to turn red as he struggled to find the lever so he could get some room for his legs. After all, he was well over two meters tall and weighted around 140 kilograms.
"So, where do you want me to drive?" he huffed and puffed after finally finding a good driving position.

Kasiya's upbeat attitude is somewhat of a rarity. Danny would recognise it though. He feels it whenever his feet hit a new road.
"You will."
My work is not done here.
Waiting for Alexi to get comfortable in the drivers seat, Kasiya opens the rear door and holds it open for Martin. He'd done this once before. A simple gesture of his head directs the Cub into the back seat.
"Forest. Get us outside the city. Get as far as you can. Then we run."
It's unfortunate that Kasiya misses entirely Alexi's discomfort, as he ends up standing right beside Alexi, for once looking down at him. Fred takes the seat in front. This is probably even less fortunate.

"Goodbye." Martin didn't really have anything to say on the matter, he knew as well as Danny that he didn't belong trapped in a city. It was bigger than the previous cages, but it was still a cage. "I will tell them about you."
He smiled back up at Aleksi and nodded to both questions. "Not one with windows." He watched curiously as Aleksi went to work relocating the seat, and only looked up at the sound of the door opening. Then he looked up at Kasiya's indistinct head motion, and back at the seat he had indicated. Human body language, more experienced than taught, wasn't progressing as quickly. Martin only realised what Kasiya meant after a few seconds of puzzled silence, then he got in the back of the car.

Taking a seat beside Martin, Kasiya shuts the door firmly, pushing is a couple of times to make sure it was properly shut. He didn't really trust cars. Speaking again to Martin, he tries to keep it as simple and concise as possible.
"Did you sick up last time you were in a car?"
Last time he'd lost the contents of his stomach, and no-one had the forethought to open the windows. It had been a bad day for all parties.

"Did you say sick? Oh my..." Aleksi moaned as he started the engine. This had all the omens of a long trip. He repositioned his bag below his seat, frontside. He had grown to appreciate good tools, and didn't want to spend his next free night cleaning them up from vomit. Why didn't he put some blankets to protect the seats... He already saw with his minds eye one werewolf panicking on moving vehicle and other vomiting all over the car.
"Aye, captain. Out and west it is then. Let me know when you want me to stop." Aleksi opened up travellers roadmap to the passengers seat and made one more check on the route. Then he scratched his head, waved goodbyes to Danny and drove out of the yard.
"Erm... left from here... I think..."

"Do you have a map?" Danny asked. "Take the highway from Stolpe and head West. Once you've left the GDR, drop them off and head back. You should be able to make it back to Berlin before nightfall."
He would have asked Aleksi to drive them all the way to the forest. But it was a ten hour drive and even if Kasiya could stand it, Martin might not. Besides, it was a lot to ask of kin already.

"No." Martin shifted around uncomfortably in the car, it was too big for him to comfortably sit back and hang his legs over the seat. He eventually settled with crossing his legs. Curiosity begged another question. "Why would I?"

Curiosity was good. Especially in a Cub born in the full moon. Doubly so for a Red Talon. Kasiya does his best to describe a difficult concept.
"Many wolfborn find their bodies do not understand what happens in a car. They feel movement, yet do not run. It confuses the body and makes them sick up. It helps to look out of the window. Your eyes see the movement, calm the body. If you do need to sick up, put your head out of the window."
That last he says partly for Alexi's benefit. The big humans distress at the situation was progressing beyond even Kasiya's lack of social graces. In truth he'd never given deep thought as to why he'd been so miserably sick last time, but one of the homid had tried to explain it and he remembered some, combining it with his own experiences.

Aleksi repeated Danny's instructions aloud to make sure he got them right. He drove off and watched the library disappear in rearmirrors. "You know, I used to get travelling sickness too when I was younger. You get used to it, and sometimes it helps if you just don't think about it." Aleksi said to his passengers as he fastened his seatbelt.
"Going out to show some nature to boy?" he asked from Kasiya casually as he put on a higher gear. It was a long trip if he had to drive in silence, and he really couldn't imagine anything else to say for opening up some conversation.

Blithely ignorant of the tradition of wearing seatbelts, Kasiya settles back and fixes his eyes on the houses passing by. Conveniently for him, his sense of sight isn't the most dominant one. Smell and hearing are sharper by far.
"Making sure he gets home safe. His people are the Red Talons."
He's seen more nature than many Garou will in a lifetime. He and I are part of it.
It is a shame for Kasiya to be losing one of the few Lupus Garou from Berlin. Truth be told he'd grown quite fond of the Cub. Of course with all they'd been through he saw this trip as finishing what he'd begun by breaking Martin out of the Hive. Closure was a rare satisfaction.
