Martin listened silently and nodded in confirmation of their statements. "I only came to the city when humans caught me and caged me." He looked out the window at the passing buildings, and noticed the wind on his face through the open window. Curious, he got up on his knees so he could stick his head out the window, and he grinned at the sensation. "It's very windy here." Lessons on relative motion were obviously something well ahead of Martin's education.

Grinning himself, Kasiya couldn't ever return to being a Cub, but he could have a vicarious window into the pure joy of rediscovering the world.
"It is. Always feels good."
His voice becomes muffled and distorted by the wind.
"Boats are better."
Through enjoying the breeze and not feeling nauseous, Kasiya plans out how to try and explain that cities weren't all bad. It's a tricky argument though. Martin had known nothing but the worst of the city, and his own experiences were far from positive.

It didn't take long to get to the first checkpoint, after which it would be a long drive on the highway until they reached West Berlin. The checkpoint guard glanced into the car and smiled at Aleksi.
"ID?" he asked. He took a look at Aleksi's passport and Visa and continued to smile. "I hope you're enjoying Germany, Mr. Vuori. Have a safe trip..."
He signalled to his friend to raise the bar. "Wait!" another guard stepped up behind him. This one was taller, and much better built. He was wearing shades, although the sun wasn't that bright. He poked his head into the car and glanced at the kid in the back, and at the foreigner. "Could you step out of the car please," he said politely to Kasiya.

What was it the humans said? A little prompting from Fred sets Kasiya straight:
"Of course."
Without preamble, Kasiya opens the door and steps out, then has a good stretch. He keeps as pleasant a demeanor about him as he can, given his circumstances.
Being unable to see the man's eyes leaves Kasiya at a disadvantage as far as reading his body language goes, and a little concerned, he ensures that as he stretches he takes a deep lungfull of air, taking the man's scent.
((Sense Wyrm, also whatever he can judge from his mood from pitiful human nostrils.))

Vuori gave his ID and Visa and smiled at the guards. "Is there a problem, sir? We were thinking on going out to see the countryside of your beautiful country, maybe even take the boy for boating somewhere, but it seems like I didn't know it was mandatory for us all to wear seatbelts. We're really sorry if we broke any traffic laws there." he said softly, hoping to distract the guards. When speaking he kept his hands on the sight, holding drivers wheel casually.
"We were hoping to return before nightfall into our lodging." he continued to the guard he gave his ID earlier, letting the tougher-looking guard to be dealt by Kasiya, quietly thanking in his mind any gods that might be listening that he had put his bag of tools under the seat instead of leaving it on the open for everyone to see. "If this takes long, could you tell me a nice place to spend our night and maybe get some good local food?" Vuori kept talking and padded his belly. It was rumbling, as he had only eaten few sandwiches with sausages and cheese this morning.

Martin stayed in the back seat and looked out the window at the guards questioning Kasiya. He didn't like this at all, all the guards and security reminded him of being caged, and he tensed up ready to flee at the first sign that that's what they had in mind.

The shorter guard tried to look apologetic, but the one with the shades just kept a strict face. "ID please," he said to Kasiya, watching him closely. Kasiya could sense no taint on the man. Apart from the fact that the looked like he lacked a sense of humour, he appeared perfectly normal to Kasiya's eyes.
"What is your relation to these men, Mr. Vuori?" he asked.

What a relief. The man lacked Taint. Just a minion of the weaver then. A racist perhaps? Kasiya's African heritage didn't do him any favours in Europe, and there was a lot of residual race hate seeping through society.
He digs a hand into his trouser pocket and pulls out the papers he'd been given. Thankful he'd taken the time to read them. At least he would know his own particulars, and as many details had been kept the same as possible. At Fred's further advice he says nothing more, extending the papers to Mr Happy, the pleasant expression on his face genuine in response to the man's lack of taint.
Thank Gaia you're here to do the talking Aleksi. The more you open your jaw the less I have to.
((I have to wonder why I gained a 'Smooshed' in front of my m1nion?))

"Men?" Aleksi looked at the guard with a confused look on his face. "The BOY is member of the family, you know I have half-brother living in Berlin." He then smiled at Martin and hoped he would keep his cool. After all, Aleksi had no idea what these 'Red Talons' or 'Tooth' or whatever it was, but the name sounded ominious. "I think I should have a picture of him and the boy somewhere, if I may look at my wallet?" Aleksi slowly took out his wallet and scanned it quickly. Of course he didn't have picture and even if he did, he wouldn't have shown it to guards, but he had something else.
"Oh damn, I think I've lost it, but here's our mother." Aleksi showed an old picture of his mother and himself standing on military uniform to the guards. The picture was taken when he joined the army and he hoped for some sympathy points "Best years ever, but I really hated guard-duty, you know, you know from the morning if the day is going to be difficult. I think it has something to do with air-pressure... I had to leave the army after I busted my knee while marching, it really sucked and my team had to carry me back to the barracks." Aleksi scratched his chin as he spoke "Hey, out of curiosity, are you working under army or police?" He smiled his smile of a tourist.
"Oh, and he is helping us." Aleksi pointed at Kasiya "My brother told me he has traveled alot and he volunteered as our guide. I really would hate to get lost on the countryside. Forests are filled by creepy and dangerous critters, you know, and I really would want the boy safely back to the hotel before dark..." Aleksi looked at Kasiya and gave him a thumbs-up as he continued to nicer guard with way more quiet voice "Our guide's a bit slow as you can see but his sense of direction is phenomenal. I think we really need him more than he needs us. And this trip means lot to him and the boy."
Then Aleksi looked behind "Is that a line forming up behind us, I hope we are not blocking the road? Angry people do dangerous things on the road, you know. I surely wouldn't want to be you, taking all the rudeness from those road-ragers. I remember that being on guard-duty really sucked when I was still enlisted." he kept talking casually with calm voice, nodding and humming sympathetically once in a while.
He just hoped that the garou would not make a scene.

Aleksi's way of lying so freely and readily held Martin's curiosity, and it was a welcome distraction from the discomfort the situation was causing him. Half of what Aleksi said didn't make any sense to Martin, of course, since he lacked the background to understand the context of many of the statements. He was eventually left wondering whether any part of what Aleksi had said was based in truth, or whether anything Aleksi ever said was truthful.

The shorter officer nodded politely and looked at the picture. The one with shades did not seem interested in Aleksi or Martin, but looked over Kasiya's identification thoroughly.
"Mr. Richter?" he said. "I apologise for the inconvenience, but I am going to have to ask you to come down to the police station with me and answer a few questions."
"Mr. Vuori, could you please park the car a little further to the left," he said, indicating a small area where he could put the car and still let others pass. "And step out of the car." He looked at Martin. "Both of you."

Aleksi sighed out loudly and shrugged his shoulders. He looked at Kasiya as he prepared to restart the engine, if Kasiya just was inside the car, he could try to make a run for it. After all, all he needed to do was get to the side where guards didn't belong. The getting back would be the really tough part.
"Sure. We don't want to cause any trouble, of course." Aleksi said as he started the engine and slowly, very slowly drove to the parking area. As he stopped the car and put the hadnbrake on, he gave his seatbelt a strong nudge to lock it in the place. He then left the keys in and started to struggle with the seatbelt. "Erm... it seems my seatbelt is stuck..."
He didn't look directly at the guards, keeping his eyes focused on the lock of the seatbelt "Do you have a knife or screwdriver? This is tightening up and I can't open it."
Actually to get free all he needed to do was press the red release-button, but if he could distract the guards any longer for Kasiya to do his... well, whatever those werewolves do, it would be worth doing.

Had he been on his own, Kasiya would have gone along with it all, gone to the police station, answered a few inane questions, and left either through the usual manner or through the Umbra. With Martin to consider, he couldn't. The wolf cub wouldn't go willingly into another cage, even for a short time.
He repeats:
"Of course."
Moving to accompany the officer, he hesitates at Aleksi's apparent distress. Wishing he hadn't yet moved the car.
"Can we make sure my friend is alright please?"
Never the best liar, he takes his cues from Fred, keeping to short sentences, always polite.

Martin backed further into the corner of the seat. They were saying nice words, Martin had long ago stopped trusting such pleasantries from humans as they had always been a prelude to needles. The association had only gotten worse in the Hive. Fortunately, that did distract him from pointing out that Aleksi just had to press the button, since he hadn't realised it was a deception meant to buy time.

The man with the sunglasses looked annoyed at the distraction.
"Wait here," he said to Kasiya. "What is the problem?" he asked, opening the car door to look at Aleksi. "Let me take a look." Unfortunately for him, getting past the large man to get at the seatbelt was not an easy fit in the cramped car, and he gave up and tried a different way.
"Get the boy out of the car," he said to the second man. "And make sure he's all right." Then he turned around to the other side of the car and opened the door.
