The gathering dispersed, and as the pack made its way back to the Caern, Ben made his way back too.
"I heard you did end up summoning the rogue raven gaffling," he said to Emelie as they neared the library. "Did it help you find what you were looking for?"

Emilie smile and nodded as she brushed a strand of hair from her face. "Yes it did, the gaffling was most helpful it took us to the Guardian of the banner, who in turn tested us as well." Her faced flushed a bit as she recalled the summoning, it had been her first on her own since leaving the sept back in the states. She gave a wry smile as she had the feeling her fellow thuerge didn't think all the ceremony was needed, but White Crow and instilled in her the deep respect the native tribes, and people, had for the spirits. And in the end, a little flattery, and conjoling and yes...pampering was not asking too much for entities that were after all coming to offer advice or help.
"But, really hearing what is to come...I think we had a rather easy job in it all. Hands of mercy has the real task at hand it seems being both the bearer if the banner and the banner itself."

"Interesting," Ben said. "I wouldn't call it easy. Having the wisdom to interpret the signs and deal with spirits, it is more difficult, and just as dangerous, as glorious battle."
He called over Adran, who was also making his way towards the library.
"This is Adran," he said to the pack in general now. "He studies the occult as well. He and I are researching an book written in an ancient language... It seemed to be the focus of a ritual that he and Slagbroder interrupted. I think your insight could help him. After all, five heads are better than two, and there might be something you have heard of that we haven't."
He looked to Adran to explain a little more about the book and the circumstances under which he found it.

"Thank you Ben-rhya for the introduction."
Adran went over to Jona and his pack and said, "I am Adran, Cilath Galliard of the Children of Gaia. I am from Magdeburg, chased off by ronin and came here to both help out the caern and manage my store directly."
"The book Ben-rhya and I have been trying to figure out has been written in a language called Enochian. It isn't a common language among the occult, but I have several books that give me examples and are of no help. The real mystery lies in some writing that marks the sides of the pages in the book. Ben-rhya has said that Danny-rhya tried to translate it and only figured out that it was a very old and obscure language, but wasn't able to translate it."
"The pack led by Judgment-from-the-Skies-rhya interrupted a ritual that was somewhat Wyrm-tainted. It was focused around the tome and did some pretty nasty damage. The book seems to be indestructible, as one of the pack tried to rip it apart and ended up nearly killing herself. The rest of us got some nasty scars from it, but they at least survived. For some reason, their packmate Anna seems disturbed, as she looked into the book while the ritual was being performed. A rite of Cleansing was performed on it and ended up causing a spiritual backlash that nearly killed Anna and I.
"One of the many questions unanswered is the origin of the book. I'm not too good at dealing with spirits, so I would hope to have their insight through your pack to solve this enigma."

"I'm Jonatan Engel," Jona said, offering a hand to shake. "Fire in the Junkyard. This is my pack."
Much of what Adran told him sounded a little out of this world. An indestructible book, an angelic language, and backlash that almost killed Garou. He was curious now. He looked at Jess and Emelie to see what they thought. Then he turned back to Adran.
"What did she see?" he asked. "When she looked into the book I mean."

Adran shook his head slightly and replied, "I don't know for sure. She said she'd rather not talk about it, so I suspect that it was rather disturbing. Considering there was some suspicion of a Leech involved in the ritual, I'd say it would have to be pretty bad."

"Rather not talk about it?" Jona raised his voice a little. He was starting to think the Fenrir at this Caern were being deliberately unhelpful. "Sorry, not your fault. If it was disturbing, you can bet it's important."
He glanced at Em. He was sure he remembered her saying something about leeches before. His knowledge of them was very limited.
"I suppose we should find out what it was," he said. "It's a start. Then we find someone with knowledge of ancient languages. Well the Caern is a library. We can ask the Caern's Spirits, can't we?" He looked at the Theurges for confirmation on that. Leeches and ancient books. This did not bode well.
