By the time they had finished with the revel, it was well into the early hours of the morning. Although a few of them were exhausted, it was quite obvious that at least Konstantin and Jona could have gone til sunrise. However, Danny and Slit-Throat did not want to leave the Caern unpatrolled for that long.
It was a rather cold night, despite the early signs of spring. And so it was a rather uncomfortable experience, to be standing out in the forest. It was hardly the first time for Konstantin, and he was used to it. But for Simeon, this new experience was was not only tiring and cold, it was pretty boring.
Somewhere around the Caern, Danny, Slit-Throat, Edward and the elder Glass Walker were patrolling as well. It just seemed unfair that the kids were warming themselves by the fire at this moment.

Simeon stomped his feet a few times to warm them up a bit, or at least remind him they were there. He knew 'why' he was out here, but it don't' make it any easier to bear, but he wasn't about to bitch about the situation either, even if a part of him wanted to.
Looking over at the burly man near by he shook his head, leave if to a Fang to make a miserable guard duty like this look easy and noble. Not one to want to stand around in total silence he decided to break the silence. "So, Cloud-Dance brought you here to help with the Cub?" It wasn't much of an opening but, at least it was better than nothing.

Simeon was spared the uncomfortable silence by the sounds of approaching footsteps and the sight of Danny pushing through the trees.
"Stand ready," he said. "I sense the Wyrm in the air. At least the storm will cover us, should we need to fight."
He looked up at the cloudy sky appreciatively. "My guardians will tell us when they've reached the bawn," he said. "But they won't make it to the Caern. It's about time we showed them what our defences can do. Stay together, and wait for my signal."
He motioned for them to follow him.

"No. I came with Slit-Throat-rhya. There is a difference." Konstantin said quietly. "I did what I was ordered to do." he looked around again, looking for a possible threats and then back at Simeon. "What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be with your pack?" Konstantin asked, assuming Simeon had one.
He then noticed Danny approaching and stopped leaning against his spear. "They? Spirals?" he asked but anyways followed Danny. It was ok to ask questions as long as the questions didn't slow down the actual process of getting things done. He only needed to know one thing anyways: "How many?"

Danny raised a hand and indicated two.
"Scouts," he added quietly. This was the disturbing part. More would come.
As they continued through the forest, nearing the edge of the bawn, Silverforge and Simeon felt they could see a shadow move across their peripheral vision.
Danny raised a hand to indicate the direction. Wyrm, he mouthed, indicating he sensed taint.
In the cold and clear air, Silverforge was sure he could smell smoke. This on its own wasn't too unusual. Sometimes youths had campfires and picnics out in these woods, and sometimes they stayed around til dawn. Something about this smoke bothered him, however. It seemed fresh and smelled like living wood, not dead.

Simeon followed Danny, staying close, as his voice dropped to a whisper. "I am a Strider...I arrived with no pack, but I am hopeful to resolve that situation soon. I find the city agrees with me a bit."
As they got closer to what Danny and sensed, Simeon gave a soft inhalation as he tested the air and sorted the scents. Even his human nose could tell the difference, and it made him frown. Green wood only burned when a fire was hot, or unnatural.

Konstantin moved in a deep, crouching position keeping his spear levelled in front of him ready to skewer the Wyrm. He tried to figure out the directions himself too, but basically trusted the older garou.
"Kill the scouts and leave rest of the party blind." Konstantin said in a serious, quiet voice. "We better move faster if they burn things. They might be attempting arson or luring us out of the real attacks way." he whispered quietly.

Danny nodded at Konstantin's analysis.
"They know they can't make it to the Caern," he said. "But if they're trying to lure us out, they've underestimated us. Let's spread out, try to circle the scout and choke him."
He was confident enough in Simeon's ability to move silently. He wasn't sure the Silver Fang would appreciate this kind of hunting, but now wasn't the time to hesitate. If the scout saw them he'd no doubt run for it.
"We'll cut him off," he said to Konstantin. "Move in for the kill."
Then he started to circle around from one side, and indicated for Simeon to circle around the other side.

Simeon nodded to Danny even as he started to move off in the other direction. It was after all a standard hunting maneuver anyway, two to harry the prey into the waiting jaws of a third. He grinned a bit to himself, it felt good to be doing something and he really hoped who ever it was put up a fight....he really wanted to rip into something that deserved it.

Konstantin nodded at Danny. "Just like hunting boars." he whispered and slowly moved forward, giving Simeon and Danny enough time to cut the scout off. He kept his ears and eyes open and held his spear in front of him ready to intercept anything coming at him.

Danny and Simeon circled around from different sides. For a moment, Simeon lost sight of the scout, but he followed Danny's gaze, concentrated, and caught her again. She crouched silently, using the cover of the trees to hide. It seemed she was good, but not good enough to notice the two Silent Striders as they crept up on her. She seemed to be intent on watching the movement in front of her. Her hand was in her pocket, and she was waiting for Silverforge to show himself.

Simeon kept his cover, his eyes flickering from the female in front of him and to the spot Danny should be. It was Danny's game here, and he would wait to break cover when he saw the other move.
((Basically once Danny breaks cover Simeon will follow suit.))

Danny kept closing in until he and Simeon had the scout semi-surrounded. He glanced over at Simeon, and used the gift of mindspeak to let him know it was time to break cover and send the scout right into Konstantin's open arms.

The scout sprang to her feet at the sight of the two Silent Striders breaking cover and retreated right towards Konstantin's hiding place. Things seemed to be going as planned.
Simeon noticed the problem first. The smell of smoke had masked the scent of petrol but he could sense it now that he was close. As the scout retreated, she dropped something and within seconds, the brush caught fire and burned hotly, cutting both Striders off from her. She didn't seem to mind the flames that much, although she didn't linger to find out if they did. She backed away, then turned tail and ran, away from the flames and straight at Konstantin.

Konstantin waited patiently his hockeymask on for the last moment before leaving his cover by shifting into glabro and thrusting his spear forward to skewer the firebug. If caught, he would twist the spear to cause more internal damage and to make sure the victim was firmly stuck on the boar-spear.
((Rage to shift into glabro, will to impaling with spear, Rage to twist the spear inside the wound OR another attempt for impaling if first one fails))
