"I'm afraid so," Danny said with a grim nod. "But he has sharp senses and is quite handy in a scrap. Not that you'll need that, but then he's ok company, and I think this'll be a good learning experience for him."
I can't tie the kid down to the Caern all the time. He'll never learn anything that way.
"Don't worry. Karin is mad, but she's trustworthy... really," he said. "I'll find Aleksi. He won't mind driving you. If he's not around, I'll get you a taxi."

"I will do my best to set a good example. Those aren't abilities one normally finds in a human boy, he is wolf born?" There really wasn't much question to it, but Kamut doesn't like assumptions. "So who is Karin?"

"He is," Danny said. "But he has spent the past months since his change in the company of humans, learning to be one. He can pass himself off as human already."
In other words, he's housebroken.
"Karin is a... Rat-Changer," he said. "One we have a mutual understanding, if not friendship, with." He started towards the stairs. "I will let Martin know where you're going," he said. "And get you a ride. Fifteen minutes isn't much time." Despite his reassurances about Karin, he was still intent on not giving making her wait.

Kamut silently follows Danny downstairs and waits for him to arrange things.

--Later--
Danny headed upstairs, helping Vasara up the stairs and depositing him on one of the beds on the second floor. He waited for Kasiya to join them, and then took a deep breath. He had much to say, but he wanted to be as concise as possible, neither Vasara or Kasiya were men of too many words. He turned to Vasara first. "You have returned without Kaleb," he said. "He was a good friend, and he will be missed. We will howl for him soon. This fight has taken much from your pack. I am afraid Micah will no longer be able to run with you, because of his injury. I have offered him a place serving the Caern. He has accepted." Danny said this carefully, knowing Vasara had worked hard to keep his pack together, only to have it fall apart after all this effort. "That leaves you only Anna. We will speak of her later.... but first:"
Now he turned to Kasiya. "You have done as I asked," he said. "For that I am grateful. But now, I must ask you to explain. What have you brought into the Caern?" He didn't need to ask. The ominous presence of the ghostswas hard to miss, even if he couldn't quite see them. But he thought he'd give Kasiya the chance to explain before he started to panic.

You know, Rhya. But like a two-legs, you worry too much. I did what I had to do, what you knew I would if you use your brain.
Kasiya has to look up to meet Danny's eye, but he does so:
"The Hive was haunted with the souls of murdered children. I took their Fetters to bring them away. Now they are here, Judgment-from-the-Skies Rhya and I will cleanse them and Anna and I will lay them to rest."
He doesn't go into what would have happened if they had been left there, he doesn't mention Hans or his 'friend', he doesn't mention the Hag. He's not witholding the information, it is merely unimportant to him right now. He doesn't say how much Anna needs to do this, to focus her on something other than black spiral dancers in her head or her captors chasing her down. He could go on much further, but that's what the monkeys do.

((Ok, not really posting around Vas, just addressing Kasiya's answer.))
Danny frowned thoughtfully. He knew the importance of Kasiya's work. That wasn't really what he needed explaining for. He knew the dead needed to be laid to rest. He knew it was the Silent Strider's curse. But he knew his duty was first and foremost to the Caern, because if he didn't do it, then nobody would.
"Treads-the-Darkest-Path," he said, speaking in the Mother's tongue now, even though it was difficult in this form. "I understand your duty to Owl. I understand what needs to be done, I will even help you cleanse the skulls." Now the hard part. But Kasiya was a Theurge. He should understand the dangers of his actions more than others. "But bringing the tainted fetters into the Caern compromises the sanctity of this place. You should not have brought them here. As a Theurge, you should know this more than others."

Vasara was taking off his clothes, or more like what was left of them and was trying to find a towel. If the skulls didn't compromise the sanctity of this place, his stench would. He let the Striders talk before saying "Then we will need reinforcements for the Pack." there was little room for emotions at times of War and Vasara fully well knew how cold his words must have been. "Kaleb will be remembered fondly as will those Red Talons who fought and died by our side. Today cost more to Wyrm than it did to us, it was a bitter victory but victory and nothing less. We do not forget them."
"Are those kids staying? There are lots of girls around, maybe they could make a babysitter-Pack while we men and She-Fenrir do the fighting?" he said without much thought. "We should hold a moot soon. I was thinking on asking Saxon to become official member of my Pack and Anna needs her Rite of Passage as soon as possible."
"...and about those skulls... I had that in my mind. It was a joint decision in the end. It seemed and still seems to have been the right decision. Just let's not waste too much time. We will Cleanse this place afterward." he mumbled to take the pressure off from Kasiya. After all he had been the highest ranking garou around at the time of the decision. He finally found his towel and walked into the shower, keeping door open to hear what Danny and Kasiya was talking and to be able to comment their words.

Kamut arrives a little after the others balancing a pot of coffee, sugar, cups and spoons carefully which he places down near where Vasara had been seated. It was obvious the conversation wasn't his business so he makes no contribution although Kasiya earns a short but neutral look at the mention of him compromising the Caern. He takes his time walking back downstairs, though he gives no sign of listening in as he does.

He's thankful to Vasara for offering to share the responsibility, but knows that the duty was his, as is responsibility for the consequence of his actions. His response begins simply, with great humility:
"I had nowhere else to go."
He continues. Acts of duty need no further explanation and the best response to one's seniors is a firm course of action to rectify the lack:
"Send your kin for Gaia's pure water and willow branches Rhya, we three will cleanse the Caern and all things within it come the dawn. I have an ally who may be able to help me to find a safe place for the children and their remains. Then I will account for my actions and repay my debt to this place. While I remain I shall tend the spirit world, nurture the Caern Spirits and seek out other Gaian spirits to enrich it."
You said you had no Theurge here, now you will see what one of us can do for a Caern. I can bear more than one duty. I can lay the children to rest, teach Anna what she needs to know and nurture this Caern.
Danny knows what he has promised already. Kasiya has broad shoulders (metaphorically speaking) this slight wolf has a hardness about him that speaks louder than words the duty he can bear. After all, thus far in Berlin, Kasiya hasn't failed at anything he's set out to do. He picks his fights well.

Danny said nothing more on the subject of the Caern. He didn't need to. He nodded at Vasara's mention of Saxon. He would be a good choice for the pack, and was sure Bear would agree. "He will bring Anna in the morning," he said, speaking loudly to the open bathroom door. "Now that you have brought up the subject of her rites of passage: Kasiya has offered to lead the rite. He is of her moon, I am sure the two of you will give her a passage worthy of a Theurge, and a Bear Cub. I hope the new kids will stay. They have proven quite useful so far." Once he turned to Kasiya, he kept his voice raised so Vasara could still hear over the sounds of the shower. "It might be hard to come by this late," Danny said. "In the morning, we can so the cleansing. You will always find help here when you need it. And if you decide to stay" (there was no pressure, after all Danny understood what it meant to be a Silent Strider.) "the Library could use a Theurge, even one as young as yourself."

"...and Fenris! Worthy of theurge, Bear Cub AND Fenris!" Vasara added from the shower. She would grow strong both in mind and body, she had to. Through training comes discipline, and through discipline she would find strength to fight her ancestry. If she didn't, Vasara remembered well his oath to find and kill her.
Vasara shrugged the thought away from his mind and let the almost ice-cold water to run on his face. Saxon would be a good choice as new pack-member. He was strong and had a healthy attitude, just like those BoneGnawers had who ages ago fought and died alongside Northmen and great Fenrir-leaders. Lowest of Tribe had earned his respect too. Kaleb, even as a ragabash, walked to death at Vasara's side, never questioning his judgement and boasting like a true warrior after fights. Vasara felt icy pain surge through his chest.
"Morning will be fine to me for Cleansing, I've always liked to do it at Dawn." he shouted again as he got a grip of his grief and threw it in the back of his head, next to the memories of his other packmembers and friends who had died in War against Wyrm.

This is, of course a good time to bring up another matter that had occurred to Kasiya before. He hadn't had time or the right company to voice it at the time, but now the situation was right.
I'll take you up on your offer of help.
"There is something we could do for Anna to help her state of mind. I need both of you for it and it should be done before her Rite of Passage. It could be done tomorrow and should not take much time."
It's true he hasn't detailed his plan, but he needed to sound the waters before voicing it. There would be risk involved, not of the physical sense, but to Anna's sanity, already balanced on a knife-edge.
As he speaks, Kasiya doesn't fidget as a human born cliath might in the presence of his elders. He doesn't move a lot or express much in the way of body language, he just talks to them both, while looking at Danny. He tries to keep his tone neutral. He, of course, thinks his plan is a good one, but it was the Warder's privilege to approve or disprove it, even though he had just last night given the Cub's teaching over.

Danny nodded, smiling slightly at Vasara's words. He was glad the Fenris had decided to take her in. She had been rootless for too long. "And Fenris," he added. "I will remember your oath well, and I will hold you to it."
The smile faded quickly as he considered Kasiya's words, but not because he didn't trust him. He knew Anna's state of mind had worsened considerably after her return from the hive, even though he hadn't witnessed it himself. Maybe it was time for drastic measures to be taken. "Tell me your plan," he said simply.

Simple request, Rhya. I wish I had a simple answer.
While he can think his way around complex concepts, and it's easier when in the Human form, he is unused to expressing them vocally. He usually just gets on with it, lone wolf that he is. He replies slowly, with measured sentences, making an effort to be as concise as possible.
"Anna's problems come from the voices she hears. Spirits, Ghosts and Ancestors. I can teach her to treat with the Ghosts, and once she undergoes her Rite of Passage she should be less troubled by wyrmish spirits. Her tainted Ancestors are the problem. We cannot shut them out, but we could open the way for any untainted ancestors to temper their influence. The Galliards have a Gift to bring minds into communion. We three and Anna could use this to enter her mind and I can carry out a Rite of Summoning within the dream. We could call out to her Gaian ancestors and bring her to their attention. That is, if you know the Gift..."
You to be the channel, Judgment-from-the-skies to lend her strength, and I to call them.
