"Listen, did you hear that, it sounded like a big beast" Maria said, moving her ears carefully to the direction of the sound. "North" she said. She turned north and began to slowly walk toward where the sound had come from. After few steps she turned to face her pack. " I will be your shield, my pack-yuff, if it is a wyrm beast, it shall munch on me first" Maria said. But inside her heart, she could feel fear about the sound. Whatever had made such a sound had to be big. And if it was a big wyrm beast, she was going to be torn.

Yvonne listens intently, but can't make it out. She shrugs. "If that's all we've got, then we go with it. But don't be silly, if it's a threat then we will all fight it. I would hope there isn't such a thing so near the Caern, but if there is it must be destroyed." She looks back at Max and Adiyah, to see if they will confirm what the metis has said or if they've got something else to go on.

"Yeah, I hear it too," Max said. He looked at Adiyah to confirm the direction. He shifted to lupus too and caught up with Maria. "Don't think we're going to let you have all the fun," he said. "We're a pack, we're not throwing anyone to the wolves... or whoever."
He let Maria lead the way. "Yvonne will let us know if it's Wyrmbeast before we get too close."

Adiyah smiled at Maria and nodded to Max. "I heard it too, from the north. Great work, and the others are right. We work and fight as one if need be, as the pack we're set to become."
The blonde theurge started in that direction as well, not wanting anyone to get too far in the lead in case it happened to be danger. She stayed in homid for now, it would be far easier to run on four legs, but easier to speak with human pipes. She looked to Yvonne as Max spoke and smiled, it was a good trait to have.

The pack heads north, with the two in homid keeping up with the two wolves, heading towards where they think the roar came from. Maria sets the pace, for although she is slow, she has the most idea where the howl came from. But the sound has stopped, and remembering exactly where the roar came from proves a difficult task. Just when they feel they have lost track of where they're going, they hear it again.
And so the hunt continues. Every time one of them is sure they know where the roar comes from, they follow it towards their totem. Soon enough, they have moved beyond the confines of the bawn as the hike through the umbral forest takes them further North.
At one point, the trail slopes upwards, and they all shift to Lupus to scale the hill. It is a difficult task, especially for Maria, whose deformed leg holds her back and slows the pack's pace. But every time they slow down, the deep and fearsome roar drives them on, and every time, it is a little closer.
And finally, at the top of the hill, they find the owner of the roar. It is a proud, majestic white lion whose immense size dwarfed even Max. The great cat fixed each of them with a steely, cold gaze and roared once more. The sound was deafening, and the sight of the lion was humbling.
"You have sought me, children of Owl's Wisdom," said the Lion. "What do you ask of me!"

Yvonne steels herself, intimidated as she is by the magnificent beast, and steps forward. She reverts to her natural form and shakes out her blonde hair, before speaking up. She has trouble at first, partly in awe of the beautiful creature, but her voice gathers it's usual strength as she continues."I am Elpis' Ardour, proud Ahroun of the Black Furies. With me are Claws-of-Fire, Galliard of the Glass Walkers; Eyes-of-Light, Theurge of the Fianna and we have recently been joined by..." Yvonne pauses, momentarily forgetting Maria's deed-name. They had only met yesterday, after all. She felt the same as she would referring to someone in a wheelchair as 'wheely', but Maria seemed intent on using it so she soldiered on."Limp-paw, Galliard of the Silver Fangs. We come as one, seeking the guidance of a spirit that will unify and guide us." Thinking back, Danny had said 'trust your instincts', so she goes on as best she can."Finding you can not be merely our good fortune, great spirit. We have had our way lit by Pheonix's fires, and guided by your fierce roars, and we would ask that you be our guiding strength in the dark times ahead." She then looks to Adiyah, who would surely know more about the spirits and be able to contribute more. Yvonne knew little for certain about what Lion respected and held dear.((I think this is important enough to pitch some luck in to be sure of impressing the lion oh yeah, persuasion ))

(( Noticed that Yvonne all ready wrote a good intro so just adding this. EDIT: Added her saying SOMETHING XD))
Maria shifted to her homid form and bowed deeply to the lion. She dared not to look at the beast in the eyes, lest she would have broken the etiquette. Maria was usually quite comfortable with her formal clothes, but now, for some strange reason, she felt like her tie was strangling her. "As my packmate said" she said simply and courtly.

Max held his breath at the sight of the lion. Sure, he had seen lions before, but those were bred in captivity. They had looked defeated, and small, and even tame compared to this one. He shifted to his homid form, and spoke to the Lion in the language it had spoken in.
"We cannot hope to win this war on our own. Without each other, we are weak, and powerless. But together, we form a pack, and with your guidance, we can defeat the Children of the Black Spiral. We can turn the tide of this war, and reclaim the city fully from their grasp. Phoenix said, we have a great part to play in the war to come. He called us The Unmentionable's children, and said we would rise, where others would fall. We are ready to prove ourselves worthy of your patronage."
Yvonne had already handled the introduction. Max was rather impressed and a little surprised at her speech. Usually, it was Adiyah who addressed the spirits.
"We are ready for this war," he added.

After hearing Max's speech after Yvonne's, Maria felt her silence to be foolish. What could she possibly obtain if she didn't and stand up and fight for it. The metis stood up, placing weight on her deformed leg. It hurt like a bitch, but Maria ignored the pain to speak to Lion. She looked up to the big cat and began.
"As have my packmates told, I am Limp-Paw, daughter of Falcon, born under the gibbous moon..and a child of sin. While my name has not echoed any halls of any court, I have within me my Ancestors, Hjalmar Blood-Teeth, from house of the Gleaming Eye and Percy Swiftclaw, from the now-deceased line of French Falcon's children, who was killed protecting peasants from the Fallen Tribe, and as his reward he lost his head." She said, and her voice, which often heard unsure and shaky, now rang clear and true.
"As for my pack, thought I have not known them for long, I will hear their tales and will remembered their deeds in my heart" she continued, still looking as proud as she could. Maria stood still, waiting for the Lion's answer. She tried her best to stand still, but the pain in her leg kept her body shaking from the unsure balance.
(( roll charisma + expression + pure breed /w metis stigma, and one point of willpower to stay standing like that))

(Since everyone has gone and been so grand in their pledges, this might sound a bit repetetive but I'll do my best!)
As they came upon the stunningly regal form of Lion, it was impossible not to take in a breath and stare, frozen in awe with a touch of fear. The roar made complete sense now, and she was glad it had not been some sort of wyrm creature. Something that close to the caern would have really been worrisome. As relief washed over her, Yvonne began her speech, which was rather impressive.
While her packmates spoke, she listened with a small smile of approval and awaited her turn. They all spoke from the heart and showed no fear, something she knew Lion should hopefully be pleased about. They needed to be impressive, but not too flashy. A strong totem like this did not care much for overly showy, unless of course there was strength and bravery to back it up properly.
Maria's story of her ancestors drew her attention briefly, as she ddidn't know the metis particularly well yet, so any information was useful. But also, somewhat more interesting, was that the woman was drawing herself up, fighting the likely pain in her leg to make her stance match her proud words. She sounded like a Fang.
The fian then stepped forward, once they had all spoken their piece. "Greetings bold and courageous Lion, king of cats. I am Eyes of Light born under the crescent moon of the Fianna tribe. I agree with what the rest have said, they all speak for this pack with the same voice, and the same heart. We have sought a spirit to guide us as our totem, to bolster us against the foes that threaten this place and this caern. Your mighty roars as Elpis Ardour has said, lead us here to you, and we find ourselves in awe of our good fortune at even being in your presence. We are hoping to proove ourselves worthy of such a guide as yourself. There is a war at hand, and if we had you as our guide to bolster us, we will be strong enough to see the enemies fall."
She paused and bowed her head towards Lion, then looked up, trying to meet the great beast's eyes evenly and bravely. "We await your noble words, and will work hard to meet whatever task you set before us."

Lion watches each of them in turn as they speak. Judging from their words, they may well have been a pack of poets and storytellers. Even Yvonne, whose words are not quite as smooth and well-chosen as the other three, manages to speak with an impressive confidence. Not one of them stutters or stumbles over their words, despite the watchful eye of Lion.
"I have heard of your exploits with Phoenix, Eyes-of-Light," Lion said. "You have shown great wisdom and respect for the Spirits and their world. You have led your friends well through the dark places of this world. I will give you the means to guide them further."
A shiver crept up Adiyah as Lion spoke those words directly to her.
"And you, Elpis' Ardour, proud Fury and honourable daughter of the full moon. You have shown courage and selflessness in your quest for Owl. I will give you the strength and resolve to take your friends into battle, and defeat our enemies."
Then he spoke to Max. "You speak with a glorious thirst for battle, Claws-of-Fire, and you fight and quest fearlessly. I will give you focus, so you may call your pack to war, and give them hope even in their darkest hours."
Finally, he spoke to Maria. "As for you, child of sin, I have not heard of your deeds. But your words have moved me. You speak with the eloquence of a true Galliard. For the sake of your once-proud ancestors, and for the packmates who have spoken on your behalf, I will give you the chance to prove your honour. Are you ready to prove yourself, child of falcon?"

Maria's eyes were watery with pain, she was focusing all her strenght to just stay on her legs. But as Lion spoke to her, Maria forgot her pain for a moment. "Yes, Lion, lord of cats, I shall do what ever deed you bestow me, for what am I with just the names of my ancestors unless I can be as great as them" Maria spoke, tears streaming down her eyes. She wasn't sad, but whether those tears were from pain or happiness, she did not know. Her balance was atrocious and she looked like she was drunk. "Thank you for your kindness" she said, bowing a little.

Yvonne bows her head at the lion's support of them all. "Thank you for your kind words, I will try my best to do you proud." She smiles at Adiyah and Max, they were truly going to work well together. Finally she turns her attention to Maria and watches her levelly. Though Yvonne still had her doubts about the deformed freak, even if she wasn't going to voice that thuoght, she had done well so far and Yvonne was sure Lion's test would prove her one way or the other.

(Will skip Max and Adiyah since this concerns Maria)
"The spirits speak of dark places in the city, where man holds power over the wild," Lion spoke, his voice proud and yet it sounded sad. "Many are taken into the white fortress, but none return to the sunlit lands. In their unbreakable cages, they await a fate worse than death. Lion's children do not stand by while the weak and helpless suffer. They do not turn a deaf ear to the victims of greed and ambition. You know what you must do, Child of Falcon."
Lion turned away from Maria and looked at the other three. "When she returns, you will know," he said. "But until then, she is on her own. You cannot help."

Maria nodded to Lion deeply, then she looked at her three packmates. " Thank you for your kindness your trust and your courage, my packmates. If I return and have failed, you shall do as you wish to me" She said, bowing to her packmates. Then she turned to Lion. " and you shall devour me if I fail" Maria said to the lion. Then she began walking away from the only hope she had held. But after few steps, she turned around to look at the Lion.
"...Excuse me, oh Lion, lord of cats, but even if I free the animals in the white fortress, chances are that they will not survive long in the outside world. I do not mean I don't want to help them, but I see no honor in swiftening their death by releasing them into a world they do not know or understand" Maria said, bowing down deeply at the lion.
