The drive took about half an hour. Johann had stopped at the school and picked up his son, a small boy of seven who had pestered Yvonne with questions on the way. So when they finally arrived, it was a relief. Johann parked the car and got out, leading Yvonne up to the building while Stefan, the boy, skipped up ahead.
"It's a library, actually," he explained. "It's the only Gaian Caern in the city."
The place well taken care of to a certain extent. But some of the windows had been broken and boarded up with wooden planks. It also looked like there were some glass shards leftover from an inefficient cleanup. He reached the door and pushed it open. Stefan rushed inside and Johann held the door open for Yvonne. "Welcome to Widom's Library... what can I say, the people who founded it weren't very imaginative."

Yvonne gets out of the car and follow Johann into the building, she doesn't notice the glass shards, she would probably have exhibited more concern if she did. Yvonne smiles as he opens the door for her and steps through. "Not a great number of warrior-poets in this city then." She is slightly nervous, stepping into a building probably filled with slavering monsters, all of which are going to be strangers to her.

The corridor led them to the main room, which was furnished exactly like a library (unsurprisingly enough). There were shelves with books along the walls, with categories such as "fiction", "history", and oddly, "occult". There was a small reading area which consisted of a large sofa and a few comfy chairs. Stefan quickly found his favourite book and settled himself on the sofa.
To their left there was a wooden door, and before Johann could say anything it burst open and a tall man with a mane of long golden hair with a matching beard stepped out. He wore a black eyepatch over his right eye, and looked Yvonne over with his left. With a slightly obvious limp he walked over to her.
"You must be Yvonne," he said. "I am Mephi Walks-with-Death, but you can call me Danny."

Yvonne shifts slowly from foot to foot, slightly uncomfortable now. "Well it's nice to meet you Danny." she sais, favouring him with a smile as she often does with ugly people "It's quite a library you have here, so how are things in Berlin?"

"Not great, but they have been worse," he said, observing her for a while longer and then turning to greet Johann and his son. The door behind seemed to lead to a small kitchen. Danny wasn't sure why but she looked younger than he had expected. "We have a bit of a situation, but the pack is taking care of it," he said. "What about you? Tell me, how do you find the city?" He was staring at her again with his one eye. It was a bit unnerving.

"Well, we only just arrived so I haven't had much chance to look around, I'll be sure to go out and look around when I get the chance. As I understand it, there were some 'off-limits' areas of the city, is that still the case?" Oddly, she doesn't seem too uncomfortable, possibly because she didn't notice his glare, possibly because it just wouldn't do for an Ahroun to be scared so easily.

"The West side of Berlin is safe, the East side is definitely off limits," he said severely. "And I don't just mean because of the wall. That place is a Wyrm-infested hellhole, and for now nobody is allowed to tread there."
If only he knew that, at this very moment, that was exactly what Vasara and his pack were doing.
"But like I said, West Berlin has been clean and Gaian for over a year now," he said proudly. "So you're an Ahroun, and a Fury. You know I knew your mother, don't you?"

Yvonne, slightly inattentive as she is, notices the pride with ease and is just about to massage his ego when he mentions her mother and her eyes go wide. "You do? I can't remember ever meeting her, my father always looked after me. It's kind of how we do things, but I'm sure you know that, so what was she like? What Auspice was she? I've always wanted to meet her, did she ever mention me?" She pauses to take a breath and composes herself a little, finally realising she isn't giving him time to answer any of her questions.

"She was there," Danny said. "They always are for the Baptism of Fire."
Danny walked a few steps towards the kitchen and said: "How about some tea, then?"
He waited for her to follow him to the kitchen (assuming she does) before he continued. "She was a half moon. A very good one too, and an even better warrior. She was my Alpha for two years while I ran with the pack. But then I moved on, and I have not heard from her since. I am sorry." He had his back turned because he was putting the kettle on, so she couldn't see him smile. "We think of our children all the time, even if we aren't there for them. It is an unfortunate part of our lives as Garou. But I am sure you understand that."

Yvonne does indeed follow Danny, she is taken a little aback by this news. "She was your alpha? Wow! It's cool to talk to someone about her, dad doesn't really like to. You don't know him do you? It must of been years ago when you met her, you've really done a lot here haven't you? I'll do my best to be like her, I wouldn't want to let you down." She hesitates a moment, catching up with what she just said. "I don't mean like I want to be in charge or anything, I don't think I'm ready for that." then in an attempt to skip past her fumble without another mention "Tea is good."

Danny laughed as he poured tea into two teacups and placed them both on the table. "Don't worry, I'm sure you'll make a great leader someday soon," he said, smiling reassuringly. "Milk? Sugar?" He retrieved both said items from their usual place and put them on the table. "You come from a long line of warriors and Alphas. It's in your blood. When the time comes, you will see it too." He sat down and stirred some sugar into his tea. "I've never met your father. That was before I knew her, I would think. So tell me about your change, how long ago was that?"

"Soon? Well, I'm not too sure about that... I mean, it was only a year ago, I'm only barely Cliath. I don't really want to talk about it though, I doubt many people have a pleasant time of it. Long line of warriors and leaders? I really don't know about that, I just want to do my bit for now." she pauses and takes a moment to think about the important questions "both, please. Speaking of which, where can I make myself useful? What packs are in the city?"

"Not many people, no," Danny agreed, adding both sugar and milk to her tea. "There's only one pack in the city at the moment. They follow Bear, and are led by Judgment-from-the-Skies, a son of Fenris. He is a half moon, like your mother."
Danny finally finished messing around with tea and sat down at the scrubbed kitchen table. "They are mostly concerned with upholding the litany and keeping Berlin safe," he added. "They are quite accomplished warriors, actually. I think you'll fit right in." He smiled and took a sip of his tea. "There are some others who aren't with the pack," he said. "And you've already met some of the kin."

Yvonne accepts her tea with a smile. "Thank you. Well I wouldn't want to see I'm a great warrior, I'm still learning really, I never got into a fight before a year ago... but by Luna's graces, I can hopefully keep up long enough to get better." She hesitates a little, she hadn't heard much about Get from her teachers and it was mostly bad, but she tries to be diplomatic anyway. "I'll meet Judgement-from-the-skies" she pauses briefly after saying the deed name, still sometimes thinking them a little silly "soon enough I'm sure. All the others too. Do you have many kin in the city?"

"Some, not many of your tribe though," he said. "There's some Strider kin just moved into the city. The rest are mostly Get or Glasswalker kin. The Black Spiral Dancers either killed or recruited the rest to their own cause. The family that owns the Library, Johann and Eva, they've been a great help securing the land here. Their son is Garou, so it's a personal interest as well. You're still in school, aren't you?"
Danny seemed to assume a lot of things before asking questions. And he did appear to talk a lot. Yvonne could probably start to see what Johann had meant by 'long-winded speeches'.
