Maria gives Kamut a wide smile. " Limp-Paw, or just Limp will do, I am not yet in a pack formally, maybe next afternoon I can use my first name.." she said, looking thoughtful for a second. The she remembered not to act like a court official. " I guess I should explain, we do not know each other well and I want to stay polite to everyone...don't worry, my deed-name is basically my last name" Maria explains.

"As you wish." Kamut refrains from remarking on the fact that until recently the eldest two Garou in the Sept were a Silent Strider and a thug, so proper etiquette is far from necesarry. Being overheard insinuating that sort of thing would be unfortunate at best, anyway. "My pack have taken to addressing me as 'kid', which I can't exactly fault them on. I suspect even Anna is my superior in years."
He shrugs and sets aside the book, then sits up so he isn't twisting around to face her. "This is perhaps a small blessing in this city. Our kind are tolerated rather more than usual. On the other hand, as a city only recently wrested from the grip of the defiler, there is significantly more danger than in other cities. The wall and the tension it creates make matters even worse." Kamut watches her reaction closely, with his hands neatly placed in his lip.

Maria chuckled at Kamut being called a kid, age mattered very little after first change, atleast to her, so she didn't wish to ask his age.
Hearing what Kamut had to say to her next made her far less cheerful, however, and she looked past Kamut to a wall for few seconds. " Yes, it's a situation that is both good and bad. But then again, it is always in the times of crisis that our breed is far more accepted. It's the nature of the world, sadly. And I don't think the situation here will be much different after we have truly won. I know your alpha and the sept elders are different, but my tribe will surely come, wishing for land and rights" Maria said, rolling her eyes. " Then again, I could be wrong and maybe things will get better. After all, I know only the ideas of the Fangs and little what other tribes think" she continued, trying for a smile.

While they talk, Kamut wonders to himself whether she's talking ill of her tribe out of some contempt for her family or if she's trying to bait him into joining her. Not that he expects it, it's just a healthy dose of paranoia. He wouldn't be suprised to see a metis pushed to find any way to stand out amidst the muck of their breed and be accepted by their betters. "The Get of Fenris are strong here as they are across all of Germay, being four out of a sept of thirteen. Your tribe will be lucky to see such wishes come true."
Everything Maria had said so far suggested she had been practically caged by her tribe. It makes him wonder why she's here now, without their steering hand. He decides to watch and wait for the answers to become apparent, it's what he's best at. "We'll cleanse the taint, but the political situation will likely determine the fate of the city on the whole. I don't know many humans well, but few are happy with their country divided."

Maria nods at the Get of Fenris comment, " Yes, I know. Excuse me, for sounding so depressing, Shadow-Stalker, I guess I've spent too many nights studying what really happened behind the great wars of my tribe" she says. But despite the cheery comment, her heart still feels very heavy. " I hope the humans choose wisely" Maria mutters and corrects the position of her leg, wincing while she's doing it. " Anyway, I feel the 'now' is more important now than 'future', with a dangerous bane in the wall and all. And tomorrow, if I'm lucky, I can officially join a pack" Maria says, trying to uplift her mood.

"They've given you an opportunity to join one so soon?" Kamut asks, showing a little suprise. "You must of left a good impression." He nods in agreement, no metis has a future in the way that the other breeds do, even within their own lifetime they will never be as respected. "Though it is a powerful one from what the others have said, it is still only one of many that must be destroyed. It is just the first step in the slow process of taking back the city from the vile clutches it has endured for too long. My pack and I will be heading out soon to observe the creature and formulate a plan."

" Yes, I am to join Eyes-of-Light, Elpis Ardour and Claws-of-Fire, and they have all agreed that I am welcome" Maria answers, looking a little more cheerful. " I'm not sure anything I've done has made them accept me, but I am still honored" she says, taking the book that Danny gave her from under her bed. " I am glad that you and your pack are still uplifted and ready to fight, especially that honorable garou who seemed to be on my neck almost the moment I doubted myself aloud. We need warriors like that to make sure there is no weakness" Maria said, chuckling a little.

"That would be Nadezhda, our Fenrir Galliard. Fortunately she fights just as furiously as she harasses. I am very curious to see how she fills her auspice roll, when that duty is called upon." He doubts she will turn into a delightful singer or storyteller, Nadya has exhibited all the charisma of Kamut's face. He does his best to keep that sentiment out of his tone, though.
"We have been gifted us with the freshness of a winter's hibernation by Tapio, aspect of Bear and guiding totem of Slagbröder. We are all ready to face battle again, if we need to."

Maria nodded as she listened to Kamut, it was important to remember every small detail. In case she needed to recall it later. "I see, I guess you mustn't be too tired then, I guess" Maria said, leafing the book as she spoke. It was interesting to see a book written by garou other than Silver Fangs. The style was completely different, and it made Maria even more curious about it. " I do think she will do fine, her fierce nature might be a inspiration to the rest of the pack" Maria said. She took a pencil and a small notebook from her coat pocket and began to write things down. " I do not have anything against her, she seems sane and atleast she didn't shift to crinos and lift me up by my demormed leg"

"That's probably because Vasara broke it up. She picked a fight with Saxon not long ago, I don't think there was a reason for it." He shrugs, it wasn't that unusal an occurence.
"I doubt there is any need for her to inspire Saxon or Vasara to greater ferocity, the three of them might manage to urge each other on though. Anna is still young from what I can gather, and I'm not built for aggression." Kamut looks down at the book she's holding. "What subject has captured your interest?"

" Oh" Maria said, wincing a little at the idea of being again treated like a floursack. Good thing there is someone to control that woman, Maria thought.
" Oh, Walks-with-death gave me this book, a written book about Warders" Maria said, showing the book to Kamut. But keeping it far enough to not give the other metis the idea that he could touch it. " It is interesting, althought far different from the ones I usually read" she said.

"Yes, 'oh'." Kamut echoes, as he wonders how much control anyone really has over Nadya.
Not wanting to speculate on his packmate to an outsider, he gladly follows the change of subject. "There is a great deal of information stored within this library by it's original owners. I have been taking some time studying it myself. It's of little suprise that information on banes is sparse at best, but that is the point of my current interest. The more that we know, the better the chance Slagbröder has of identifying and destroying this bane tonight."
Kamut breaks out of his introspection to be inquisitive again. After all, they are the closest each other has to an equal. None the less Kamut does wonder if she suffers the hubris of the Silver Fangs despite her bowing and scraping. "Is that a subject you have an interest in for some reason, or did Walks-with-Death-rhya select it for you?"

Maria listens as Kamut talks about the lack of bane related reading material, and then sighs. " I guess it is because nobody wants to dig that deep into them, could be fatal for this place, especially since it has just recently healed" she muses.
" He picked it, I prefer books about lineages and family trees, some even on the study of genetics" Maria says, hoping not to sound too traditional. It is a very boring hobby for a young garou like her, atleast to many of the sons of her mentor thought so.

"Banes are rarely, if ever, talkative. I believe some powerful theurge could manage to force information from one. However the strongest spirits - be they of Gaia or otherwise - are nigh-impossible to control. Study of such creatures is also dangerous for the spirit, the wyrm tries to taint all it touches." Kamut nods, more to himself than to Maria, and looks down as he considers that himself. It's a lesson he needs to remember every time he tries to learn more of the enemy.
He looks back up, a faint smile showing at the subject of family trees. It's not a pleasant smile though, having a somewhat sad quality about it. "Family trees, I suppose you can map yours back many generations? I can only relate the lineage of one half of my family, since I am only in touch with my mother."

" Exactly, I believe one tribe tried their best to understand the enemy completely, and now they are its' slaves" Maria says, rather blandly.
" I can, but truth to be told, I don't want to. I can contact my ancestors and what they say is enough information for me" Maria says, sharing the sad smile with Kamut. Beside her mentor's wishes for her not to do resarch about her family tree, Maria herself feels that she never was part of the lives of her parents. She stays silent for few minutes, just thinking about something. " Is your mother kind to you?" Maria finally asks, sounding sincere.
