Out of sync with current Caern threads. Feel free to keep posting there until they catch up. Also, it looks like I'll be ghosting Saxon for a while longer.
Sunday afternoon dragged into evening, and evening into night. Despite the physical and spiritual drain the past week had put on the pack, they were quite refreshed and ready for a good midnight run. Bear's charm had taken care of that. It was a clear night, and the dim light of the crescent moon filled them all with an urge to return to battle, especially Anna, who could feel her auspice moon reflood her with lost rage.
Saxon, who had spent most of the afternoon catching up on the human aspects of his life, appeared in the Umbra at the predetermined time. Apparently, Kamut had managed to get him the message that they were meeting. He looked ready for a fight, despite the fact that this was just a scouting run.
Theurges gain full rage. Everyone else, +2.

Nadya had arrived at the Caern by nightfall, she's punctual if nothing else, so is in plenty of time to join the others. She's travelling light, without her usual range of armaments. None of them are bound to her anyway so she couldn't take them to fight the bane, and they probably wont be as effective as claws anyway. Though she isn't gripped by the earlier need to do something immediately, she's still fresh and alert while she waits for Vasara to get things moving.

Anna was also somewhat early to arrive in the Umbra. She didn't have much to do anyway, although she had managed to go home and change, and probably have the first "normal" afternoon she'd had in a while. She wasn't carrying any weapons, but then this was a scouting mission (and besides, she didn't know how to use them).
"Hi," she said cheerfully to Nadya and Saxon. Although they no longer outranked her, they were still much larger and more experienced, and somewhat intimidating.

"We haven't had much chance to meet." Nadya hadn't had the chance to take stock of the teenage girl earlier, so this seems like a perfect opportunity. Nadya walks up to Anna and meets her eye levelly. "You've managed to pick up a few scratches there, looks like a cat had a really good go at you. I bet you're worried about picking up some more, huh?"

A cat? I wish. She didn't correct Nadya, however, probably because she didn't think she was serious. Instead she grinned. "Oh, I'm not worried," she assured Nadya. "It's all part of the job."

"Good, I'm sure there are plenty more to come." Nadya manages not to look dissapointed as Anna gives the right answer. "You've been here since your first change then? So do you know anything about this bane that's got everyone so worked up?"

Vasara approached the place after having some difficulties with the Gauntlet. Even inside the caern his spiritual strength had lot's to improve, and now after finally getting through he was even more pissed off than usually.
He was wearing dirty, gray shirt. Doing laundry was not one of his strong skills either, and he was followed by strong scent of oil and sweat after spending some time with his motorcycle. He looked around to see had everyone arrived already and reminded himself of the gameplan. Get in, get info and get out. If Bane is recognized as something they could kill alone, then kill it. Sounded simple but he had seen that when things seemed to be simple, something usually appeared and made things complicated.
He checked the time one more time and said: "Hi. Are you ready?"

Kamut joins the gathering, wondering if Nadya's going to escalate the confrontation with Anna like she probably would of with Maria. He offers Vasara a nod, he's as ready as he can be.

"Ready to go," Cloud-Dancer joined them in the Umbra a few seconds after Vasara himself breached the gauntlet. Hopefully, things would go smoothly. But if they didn't, she was prepared for battle.
"Lead the way," she said to Vasara. She might have age and rank on him, but she was a stranger here. Besides, she was curious to watch the pack in action, and see how the young Fostern would lead.

"I know where its lair is," Anna volunteered. "We should be careful when we approach it. The spirits around it are angry. I think it plagues them in some way, but I'm not sure how."
She still wasn't very good at talking to spirits, and besides, she really didn't see any reason why they would want to listen to her.

"That's somewhere to start then." Nadya looks around at Vasara and stands with her hands on her hips, waiting. "Ready."

"You know where it is? Good, then you'll take the front with Kamut. Show to rest of us the way." Vasara said as he shifted into lupus for traveling. "When you find the Bane, give us a sign and we'll try to sniff it out, and if there comes any sign of danger you just fall back, lure the pursuers into our claws and let us take care of the trouble."

"I never thought to mention it before, but now we are to be packmates it might be best if you are aware that I was not gifted with a sense of smell."
He looks around at Anna. "So if we will be scouting together, I will not be able to track or notice threats that way. I try to compensate for it by listening more carefully, but it's no substitute."
Following Vasara's lead, Kamut takes to his patchy-coated wolf form. He bows his head to Anna, she will need to show the way.

Cloud-Dancer shifted to Lupus too and took up the rear. "Lead the way, kids," she barked. "We'll make sure nothing crawls up on us and bites us the arse."
It was a good night for a fight.
ST Note: Saxon shifted to his Lupus form too and got ready to follow.

The pack of wolves made its way into the heart of the city. It was a long run, but the wolves were well rested and found the midnight run quite invigorating. The city became denser, and the spiders became more numerous as Anna and Kamut led the way towards the wall. They slowed down as they neared Checkpoint Charlie. It was evident that something here wasn't right. Even the many pattern spiders that spun their way across the walls avoided this place. The whole area seemed to be crying out in pain, and the stench of death was intense. The buildings here had no umbral representation, but seemed to be nothing more than a pile of rubble. At most this area resembled a bombed Berlin, at the end of the second world war, a Berlin none of them were old enough to remember. Only the wall stood proud and strong.
And there was a man sitting on the rubble. He was watching them. They couldn't see him too well from where they were standing, although as Vasara looked him over with his one good eye, he had a feeling he looked very familiar.
