"Halt!" Vasara ordered as he tried to figure out why did the man look familiar, and even more; why the hell was he here? "This is the place, be ready for anything and do not rush anywhere. Stay close and act as a pack, not some random ruffians!" Vasara looked around and tried to figure out where the Bane could or would be hiding. "Saxon and Nadezhda, secure the flanks. It's too quiet in here."
He looked at two ragabashes and smiled at them "Sneak closer to have a better look. But be careful and if you see anything weird, fall back and let us know what is going on." Vasara looked at the man again, who the hell is he? [ooc: activate Scent of the True Form]
"Anna?" even though Anna's Rite of Passage was still so recent, Vasara already trusted the theurge more than himself in this weird umbrascape "Do you see or feel anything you would want to share with us?"

Anna was more than happy to stop. She didn't think she wanted to approach any further.
"The spirits here are hurting," she said, as quietly as she could. "I can ask them, but I do not think they want to stop and talk. And I... I know that man. I don't think we should approach. Something's not right."
She unconsciously took a step back, but quickly checked herself. She didn't want to come off as a coward on her first run as a Cliath.

"Don't worry, we'll be careful," Cloud-Dancer said. She glanced at Kamut, and motioned for him to follow. Then, using one of the earliest gifts she'd learnt as Garou, her fur turned from grey to take on the exact colour and texture of her surroundings. Very quietly, she started towards the strange man standing on a pile of rubble.

Kamut nodded and didn't make a noise as he followed after Cloud-Dancer, sticking to his wolf form for the nimbleness it offered. As he moved forward, circling the man first rather than approaching directly, he became gradually harder to focus on as he slipped from perception. He paid keen attention to his hearing, listening for signs of creatures lurking nearby in ambush, and to the other senses he had learned.
(blur of the milky eye, sense wyrm too unless something happens before he gets the chance)

Nadya did her best to grumble, but a wolf tongue isn't as useful to that end. Keeping her eyes and ears open, she sniffed around the left flank. She doesn't travel far from Vasara and Anna.

Cloud-Dancer crept up towards the man. He in turn did not seem to notice them, but has his gaze fixed at Anna and Vasara. He kept smiling at them. They could still see no sign of the bane, but the air got thicker and warmer the closer they got to the wall, and the strange man. Kamut could sense the Wyrm's taint on the area. As he circled around the man, he found himself getting ever closer to the wall. The taint seemed to be getting stronger as he did.
Meanwhile, Vasara was starting to see what Anna meant about something not being right. Although his half moon gift told him this strange man near the wall was Garou, Vasara got a creepy feeling from looking at him. It was only after Kamut and Cloud-Dancer had already set out that he realised what was wrong. The man looked like Kaleb, except different. If anything, he looked like a flawed picture of Kaleb. He raised his left hand and waved at Vasara and Anna, and called them over.

"Kaleb... you know you're dead, kiddo?" Vasara said under his breath. For a brief moment he felt terrible sadness in his mind, but in just a few seconds the feeling changed into rending, burning Rage. "You DARE to befoul the image of my fallen brother-in-battle!!" Vasara roared, not so sure that could he control himself as he stared 'Kaleb'. There was no way this could be Kaleb, Kaleb was dead, ripped apart by Black Spiral Dancers and his soul was sent to Gaia when the remains of the Pack participated in Gathering for the Departed.
As Anna took an involuntary step back, Vasara took two fast steps toward 'Kaleb' as he shifted into crinos. He had fought Wyrm in many of it's guises before but this was by far the worst. Images of the fallen packmate flooded Vasara's mind, starting on the day he met the burgerhunting Bonegnawer just a few moments after arriving into Berlin for the first time and ending in the Gathering for the Departed for his friend who had died fighting like he had been adopted by Fenris to give him strength for his final stand.
This was far too much for Vasara, and even as he had remarkable control over his Rage, this tested his limits.
"Show yourself! I will rip your black heart out from your still warm body and feed it to you!" Vasara roared on the very brink of losing control. The small nagging sound on the back of his head that told him that this was just a recon run tried to bring the sense into Vasara's mind, but right now he couldn't care less.
(ooc: I think frenzy-roll would be appropriate here?)

"Wait!" Anna had no idea what would happen if Vasara approached the fake-Kaleb, but she had a feeling that was exactly what it wanted him to do. Her cry changed to a snarl as she shifted to Crinos and lunged after Vasara. He wasn't going to like this at all, but she tried to pull him back. This was just a recon run.
She wondered what bane could possibly do this. They would know, she was sure. But she didn't know if she had the courage to ask them.

Kamut opted not to confirm to the others that the area is tainted, Vasara seems incensed enough without needing validation to push him on. It was obviously an illusion or imitation, though he has no way of telling which. Still concealed from sight, Kamut lies in wait to see if 'Kaleb' poses any threat, settling comfortably within a short run if he suddenly becomes needed, with his senses sharply tuned to their surroundings. Even if 'Kaleb' is benign and unrelated to the bane that they're seeking, Vasara is drawing attention to himself in a non-entirely-friendly area of the city.
(use Fatal Flaw on 'Kaleb')

Nadya gladly joins Vasara and Anna in pushing through to her own Crinos form, but she doesn't move. Instead she holds her position on the left flank, watching for trouble.

Cloud-Dancer stopped in her tracks when she heard Vasara shout out. She shifted to Crinos too. Vasara had already broken their cover. "Stay back," she barked to Kamut, or at least in Kamut's general direction. She was unsure why Vasara was charging, but he must have seen something she hadn't, because the man hadn't shown any signs of hostility.
From where she was standing, Cloud-Dancer let out a low, angry snarl. As she exhaled, her misty breath started to turn to ice.

The shock of seeing their dead packmate's impersonation sent both Anna and Vasara reeling with rage. Neither of them is really known for losing control easily, however. Anna's claw closed around Vasara's arm, but she is nowhere near strong enough to stop the charging the Fenrir. But before they could reach Kaleb, the illusion vanished. The ground began to shake, crumbling beneath their feet. Vasara, Cloud-Dancer and Anna could feel themselves begin to sink into the ground as it started to break up into large chunks, catching the three of them in shifting debris. And the stench intensified. A steaming, sickening heat rose up from underneath their feet. Saxon also pushed through to his Crinos form. From where he and Nadezhda were standing, they could feel the earth tremble, although it didn't seem about to collapse. Kamut, on the other hand, could tell the three Fenrir were in trouble, while he kept his feet firmly on the ground.
Fatal Flaw sent by PM. Anna and Vasara regain rage. (Vas on 4, Anna can gain one above her maximum, also on 4) Will edit in an image in a bit.

"There you are, let us get a good look at your ugly hide!" Vasara grinned. It was always better to face a huge, horrible beast of Wyrm than to be forced to fight someone you've lost recently. Now that the Bane seemed to be out, there was the moment for more immediate problems. Ohhh shit...
Vasara grabbed Anna and attempted to throw her to the safe ground. Then, fuelled by his Rage he launched himself away too. "Retreat into solid ground!" he shouted to Cloud-Dancer. If they were going to fight this critter, he sure as hell would make sure the fight would be on somewhere he could stand.
(ooc: using Rage. Grab and throw Anna into safety and head for the solid ground as fast as possible, on four-paw drive if needed)

"What the hell is this thing?" Anna tried to scrabble back, towards Nadya and Saxon. She attempted to jump, but when Vasara grabbed her, she just tried to land in the right place, or at least land on her feet. The question wasn't directed at Vasara or Cloud-Dancer. They were only ones who would have an inkling as to what sort of monster this was.

Kamut breaks into a sprint around the crumbling area, running as close to the broken ground as he can without risking falling in and being of no use to anyone. He heads for the point Vasara and Anna are heading for, then he stands and reverts to his natural form as he gets there so if they lose their footing he's in the position to pull them to safety. He's still a little difficult to focus on, but all the rapid motion makes him obvious anyway.
