David replied, "Very well, and may the best werewolf win."
David feinted a blow to Vasara's groin before trying to slam his fist into Vasara's jaw, he then grabbed onto him and started trying to wrestle with him.
(Feint and then punch, rage to grapple)

Vasara kept his position and just snarled at David viciously. He kept his guard up so if David went wrestling, he would have his both arms free to deal with him. He took a step back and launched a quick jab at Davids face when David kicked, and right after anticipated impact he launched himself forward, knee first.

Vasara snarled viciously as David rushed forward and punched him squarely in the jaw. The hit sent Vasara's teeth gnashing together and he tasted blood in his mouth. With a snarl, Vasara retaliated and punched back. David felt his own jaw crack under the pressure of Vasara's rocklike fists, and he felt the rage boil in his body. Still, he lunged and pulled Vasara into a grapple, holding him tightly, and Vasara could tell the boy's large frame was entirely muscle. He had an iron grip like one of Bear's children.
As the effects of the howl sink in, David starts to feel that maybe attacking Vasara is not such a good idea. He can't really explain it, as only moments ago all he wanted was to smash in his face.
Wow, great rolls. Vasara takes 4 levels of damage, gains rage, is stunned, and is grappled. David takes 5 levels of damage, gains rage, is stunned, and is cowed by Vasara's snarl.

Tough puncher, Vasara thought and grinned as he tasted his own blood. The grappling left just a little room to maneuver so Vasara pushed Davids head backward to force him to loose his grip and delivered a vicious set of knees and fists at David.

"Now this is fun, he's a good challenge" David knew he had Vasara in his hands and he wasn't letting go. He squeezed even harder as Vasara squirmed in his hug. He growled to Vasara, "Not bad. Having fun?
(Rage to ignore stun, action to clinch, rage to clinch. If Vasara breaks free, abort everything to block)

David almost let Vasara go on his own, having lost the will to fight back. However, as he went to knee him in the abdomen, David stumbled back a few steps and the hit ended up falling short. Vasara hit him again, but despite his failure to block, the fist only clipped his ear.
Wow, and now, terrible rolls. No damage. Vasara heals 1 point of damage: 3 lethal. David fails to heal. 5 lethal, but can fight back now.

David forced aside the pain from his mind and put all his effort into messing with Vasara's mind during his attacks. He swept his foot behind Vasara's leg to topple him and then followed up with a few kicks.

Vasara kept up with his barrage of blows, hitting David all over his body followed by sudden suplex to bring the boy down.

And just like that, the will to fight returned to David. But Vasara had the jump on him this time, and he moved in for two successive punches before David could get his sweep in. They hit David in the chest, and he thought he felt a rib crack on the second hit. He buckled and fell to the ground, clearly knocked out.
David takes 1 then 3 levels of damage. Is unconscious but it'll all heal up within a few seconds. Combat is resolved.

"He throws a mean punch, you've got to give him that," Cloud-Dancer said, watching the trickle of blood that had formed around Vasara's mouth. David was already healing up and he was starting to come around, so she wasn't worried about him.
"So what's the story with the War Wolf," she asked. "Ben did say something about a mysterious book and a leech. You guys get to have all the fun."

As David regained consciousness he said, "As I said before, you couldn't take me down that easily. But it was a good fight all the same Judgement-from-the-Skies."
David pulled himself into a chair and let himself rest a bit to heal up. He looked at Cloud-Dancer and said, "Well, that was a good warm-up exercise. But while I was holding him, something came over me and I felt like I couldn't fight that well anymore. And it happened right after he snarled at me. Do you know what happened?"

"Volkswagen has a solid punch if you get caught on it's way on highway." Vasara grinned "...but at least he can be taught and shown direction." Vasara was still worried about this. "We are heading for a huge battle, and now we are burdened by two outsiders. Our current pack-dynamics and routines might help us to survive, but with two outsiders, no matter how ahrouns they are, can get us all killed if they can't work with us and follow our moves."
He imagined himself and his pack stumbling over a cub and retard on a crucial moment of the battle... Vasara didn't like this at all.
Vasara looked at David and replied to him for Cloud-Dancer. "Spirits teach Gifts to those of us who has proved ourselves worthy for them. The higher we climb on our renown-ladder, stronger things are taught. That is ONE of the many reasons of respecting your elders, no matter what they look like, they know ways to fight you or even me can't even imagine. To us, Gifts are as natural as breathing is after learning them, if you want you could think of it as if those things are what happens when certain parts of our Spirit-side is awakened." Vasara rambled before looking at Cloud-Dancer. His Philodox-moon was taking over and he decided to cut it short. "I bet Cloud-Dancer-rhya has already mentioned that we are not creatures of flesh, but... kind of combination of Spirit and material creature. That also makes it possible to visit the Umbra."
"Yeah, the Warwolf. There was a leech, at least I think it might have been one, and a book that exploded on our faces. Owl said we prevented or at least postponed something terrible from happening but... I really don't know about what to think about that. I trust Fenris more than Owl and we had a good, tough fight and we kicked some Wyrm-arse in the end. With the leech was two women who seemed to be humans first but did some weird things." Vasara shrugged "I really can't explain even half of all the things that happened, those things where on the far side of the mumbo-jumbo."

"Exploding books?" Cloud-Dancer looked interested. "Either way, I reckon we are ready for the fight. I trust you to take down the bane, and you can trust me to make sure you don't get overrun in the pit. Hopefully, Dammerlicht will be back by then, and they can help me and some of the others hold the wall."
She nodded, well aware that non-pack members were more hindrance than help most of the time. "It's up to you," she said. "They can both stay behind if you feel they will be trouble. You have almost a week to make an educated decision. We strike at full moon, after the moot."
She grinned. She was looking forward to the fight. She looked at David. "That is one of the gifts of our tribe," she said. "I used it on Kord two nights ago too, as we escaped, so he wouldn't attack us when we ran. When you have gained your rank, you will also learn your gifts, gifts of the Ahroun and the Silver Fangs. They will be yours to cherish and keep. They will be part of you as much as your claws and teeth are now."
Then she turned back to Vasara. "You should bring your pack up here," she said. "To meet the new Warder."

David gave a wry grin at Vasara and said,"Well, I guess that those gifts even the odds quite well. How did you learn that one? But I could use every edge I can get my hands on, even if they are cheap. So how long will it be till I can learn one of these Gifts?" David continued to let himself heal and added to Cloud-Dancer, "So when would you like to start sparring again? And what exactly is a leech? I don't think it means what I think it means."

"Evens odds? Cheap tricks? You didn't mention about using your Rage to quicken your actions? You didn't mention about using glabro? You practised swordplay, using tools to fight is more unnatural than using Gifts. How Gifts are cheap tricks to even odds if those things are not? Is your problem listening or understanding? Gifts are as natural to us as is our spiritual power, rage and forms." Vasara snapped at David. His competition for packposition clearly just had it's first bump even before he had met the other applicant.
"I learned it by earning high enough position with my actions, not loudmouthing. Details are not things to be taught to mere Cubs." Vasara said to David before focusing on Cloud-Dancer. "New warder? Sure, we got to meet him. Who is he? Or she?"
