Thursday
Cloud-Dancer woke David up early the next morning. He knew this was his last night crashing at the library. She had been sorting out his living arrangements. So David had spent one last night sleeping by the fire in his Lupus form. When he awoke, he found that his chest had almost fully healed, but the scars were as evident as ever, and probably would be for the rest of his life.
He woke up to see Cloud-Dancer standing over him holding two straight wooden sticks. "Up for some sparring?" she asked, holding out one of the practice-swords out to him.

As soon as David caught sight of the two practice sticks that Cloud-Dancer was holding, he stretched out and got to his feet. He shifted back to his homid form and said, "I always am ready. I think this will be a good lesson since I haven't fenced for 2 days now." David took one of the practice weapons and after lunging a few times with it, he saluted Cloud-Dancer and said, "I believe it is your move, as you are the teacher." David went into his guard stance and waited for Cloud-Dancer's instructions. He trusted her to know how to teach him. A stray thought crossed his mind as he prepared himself, he voiced it with, "So did you try any of the soup last night?"

"Seems the boys got to it before I did," Cloud-Dancer said. "I talked to friend of mine this morning, a lawyer. He's going to sort out your legal status."
As he got ready, she pushed the chairs and tables back so they would have some room and didn't have to bump into bookshelves.
"It should be sorted out pretty quickly. I'll be your guardian for legal formalities for the next two years. I've sorted out a place for you to stay as well. Are you bothered about school at all, or are you done with that already?"

David helped Cloud-Dancer clear away the playing field and replied, "I was home-schooled and I really didn't have much more than a 5th grade education, but on the streets I picked up quite a bit more knowledge. I should be good on that level. Though I could likely use a bit more schooling."
As David prepared for the match, he asked Cloud-Dancer, "So why is Silverforge so bossy? And what's up with this renown stuff?" He added as well, "What was it like when you had your first transformation into a werewolf?"

"Our deeds determine our status in Garou society. The more we distinguish ourselves, the higher rank we earn. Silverforge is a Cliath, it is the first rank you can reach, but it is still a rank, because he has fulfilled his role as an Ahroun in Garou society. Some people like to lord their ranks over others. In times of war, it is an important tradition to follow."
With all the chairs and tables pushed aside, she took her place in the middle and got ready to spar with David. She continued explaining as she did.
"That's good," she said. "We can sort something out as well. I have a house not far from here. You can make your home there, although as Garou, we spend a lot of time with our pack."
She paused as she remembered her own first change. "I was older than you," she said. "My tribe got a little impatient and decided not to wait for me to change on my own. So they got my father to dump me somewhere in the black forest until I got the hint. I did eventually. Hunger and cold can be pretty frustrating."

David nodded and said, "Well, at least you still had parents. I had the hunger and the cold, but I didn't really mind it. Although I had to pick up urban survival skills pretty quickly to survive, I can probably still do so today. But they probably won't be necessary since you've allowed me to stay with you, which I thank you for. Shall we spar then?" David dropped back into guard and waited for Cloud-Dancer to answer and start her attack.

Cloud-Dancer nodded. "These are things that have made you strong," she said. "And they are skills that will definitely come in handy in your new life as Garou. Let's spar."

Entering combat rounds. Both in homid, the sticks do bashing damage.

David saluted her and then advanced into attacking range. He feinted an attack to her head and then disengaged with the stick to hit her on her flank.
(Feint to the head, but attacking her flank)

Cloud-Dancer let him advance and moved to parry the hit with the stick, and then brought the stick around to counter-attack.
(Split action to parry and strike)

Cloud-Dancer brought the stick down on David's shoulder. It hurt, but not enough to bother him despite the lack of protective clothing. She parried David's attack to her head, but at the last second he hit her flank instead and felt the stick connect with her side.
One level of bashing damage each. Sticks don't hurt much and both have good soaks.

"Sneaky." Cloud-Dancer pressed her attacks, swing the stick three times in quick succession as she moved around the reading area. They were in a confined space, so she couldn't really go far.
(Split action 3 ways. Abort any one to a parry if David attacks.)

David smiled as she landed the blow on his shoulder. As he recovered from his earlier attack, David swung his weapon as hard as he could and aimed not at Cloud-Dancer, but at her weapon.
(Be sneaky again and Disarm)

Cloud-Dancer attempted to parry David's blow as he moved in for an attack, and barely managed to hold on to the stick as he attempted to disarm her. She retaliated and tagged him twice, hitting his torso and shoulder, but neither hit really hurt him.
No damage

David frowned as the he noticed that she was still holding onto her weapon. So he decided to try it again and then trip her as well.
(action to disarm, rage to sweep)
