There was an opening now, and to his surprise, Slags inside the pit were still alive. The plan seemed to be working for now and there was no need to change it yet. Vasara tore again at the armour of the Bane, and tried to keep out of the way of people striking at the opening. Mentally he steeled himself against possible attack from the Bane.

Anna had done well, Saxon felt himself healing and carried on ripping away the Crab’s armour with Vasara. Soon large areas of the crab would be exposed and then they could really tear into it.

The bane reeled in pain, and thrashed at them angrily with its limbs.
"You cannot strike me down, War Wolf," it said. It was a bit of a shock to hear it speak. Its voice was gravelly and low, and it seemed to shake the pit itself. "You can cleanse this earth but man will corrupt it again, and I will return, as strong as before."
The warwolf didn't bother with words, it turned to face the weak area that the pack had created. From its breath, icy shards started to form and they flung themselves at the bane.

Grinning with satisfaction, David ripped back into the crab. He slashed out, hoping that the crab wouldn't notice him and would concentrate on everyone else as before. He concentrated his attacks on the same spot he had hit before.

Saxon, Vasara and David continued to pile their claws onto the bane. Saxon and Vasara both ripped off some more of the bane's armour. David's attacks, though less accurate, were a lot more ferocious, and they tore away large chunks of the bane. And when the War Wolf's icy blast hit, they finally felt the bane weaken. But then the warwolf roared with rage, and the bane appeared to pull itself up and even reform. The warwolf, on the other hand, weakened and even seemed to grow smaller. Vasara remembered Cloud-Dancer's warning words, that the bane seemed to feed on the essence of nearby spirits, draining their life-force away and growing stronger.
Back outside the pit, both Hands of Mercy and Kamut took a shot at the gliding Black Spiral Dancer as she hurled her curses at Hands of Mercy. They were only words, but they carried with them a curse that drained his strength and will to fight. He could take some satisfaction in the fact that his arrow hit, even though Kamut's went wide. It just barely struck her shoulder, but it took root just as she dropped behind the rubble for cover.
Hands of Mercy loses 2 rage and 2 willpower. Anna heals 1 level of bashing damage.
Initiatives and Status: Crabby: 9
Pack Initiative: 10 Vasara: 0/2/4 Saxon: 4/2/4 – on 1 aggravated. Kamut: 1/3/3 Anna: 2/1/4 - on 3 bashing.
Hands of Mercy: 15 (2/2/1) David: 10 (3/1/2) Warwolf: 12
Leechwife: 16
The bane, visibly drawing strength from the War Wolf, started to attack again properly. Once more, it made one swing for Saxon and another for David with its pincers.

What the heck, I was just taking this guy apart. David went with his rage to slash the bane to bits again. Whatever just happened, it still needed to go down.

Yeah, yeah Saxon thought to himself as the Crab spoke, did not every villain say that? He concentrated on working with Vasara to rip at the Crab.

The opening seemed to turn into valid target in Vasara's mind and he completely ignored the Banes whining. He focused his attacks on the opening now and hoped to bring the Bane down before it could leech Warwolf too much.

Anna circled around for an opening to shoot an arrow into the flying Black Spiral Dancer. She moved in closer. It was dark and difficult to see her behind the rubble.

Kamut moved towards Hands of Mercy, not in a way that would block his line of sight, but still close enough to be able to step in front of him or protect him should any of the arrows come his way. He studied the archer, trying to use his tribal gift to discern her weakness.
Though weakened, the war wolf didn't let up his attacks. He continued to tear at the bane's weak spot, tearing out chunks of it with his teeth.

Hands of Mercy nocks an arrow, but doesn't yet loose the shot. In the gloom and with his target behind cover, it would likely be a waste of an arrow. While keeping his attention largely on the winged form he can just about see, he scans the area again for anyone else sneaking up.

The bane took its strength from the war wolf and as it reformed, it took a swing at David. The pincer's hit wasn't quite as central as it had been when it hit Saxon, but it still gored his side painfully. With the pain came the familiar sensation of rage taking control, and David had to make a tremendous effort not to give into it now. Saxon pulled at the bane's armour, but there was none to rip off in that area anymore. They had torn it to shreds already, and Vasara had no trouble hitting and tearing out chunks of the bane now that they had weakened it considerably. The bane was so weak now it was having trouble lifting David off his feet.
Anna's arrow managed to find its mark, and although it didn't dig too deeply, it still stuck in the Black Spiral Dancer's arm.
The night was already dark, lit only by the umbra's full moon and the glow of the banner. But somehow the darkness seemed to intensify, and the archers found themselves blinded by an inky blackness that filled the night around them. Kamut could barely make out Hands of Mercy by the dull glow of the raven banner, but Hands of Mercy himself could see nothing further than a few inches away.
David takes 4 levels of aggravated damage. (skewered counts as grappled so you can try to break free) Hands of Mercy and Kamut are blind. Unlike normal blindness as described in the corebook (because that would simply make this gift too overpowered for a rank 1 gift) they can still dodge and parry, but at +2 difficulty. All melee attacks are also at +2 difficulty.
Pack Initiative: 16 Vasara: 0/2/3 Saxon: 4/2/3 – on 1 aggravated. Kamut: 1/3/3 Anna: 2/1/4 - on 2 bashing.
Hands of Mercy: 13(2/2/1) David: (4/1/2) 11- on 4 aggravated and must spend a willpower point to avoid frenzy. Warwolf: 14
Leechwife: 12

David screamed in rage at being gored but resisted the urge to let that rage take him. He pulled at the claw and tried to shove himself off of it. It hurt like heck, but as long as he could get off of the claw, he'd be fine.

Leechwife resisted down her urge to mock the Gaian fools, she didn't want to give her location to the shooters that easily. Anyways, she had things to do, and she needed to hurry before the battle was lost.
She carefully stood up, deciding to resist anything that the young girl with bow might throw at her, and took aim at the shimmering inside the darkness with her own bow.
((shoot Hands using Will, making sure she is staying in at least partial cover if Anna decides to try and shoot her.))

As the darkness descends, Hands of Mercy pauses a moment then starts moving away from where he remembers the Spiral to have been, as swiftly as he is able. If he's lucky, this will turn out to be a location-bound effect. If not, well moving was better than standing still waiting to be shot.
